gray16 -- in general college numbers translate to nba numbers. All the guys you mentioned liking in the crop of young nba point guards, all of them had very good college numbers.

tom m- to me numbers aren't everything, ESPECIALLY in college

collins junior numbers are a much better judgement of his game imo, this season he was doing great until his injury and still did decent after that.

like i said i'm not saying he's going to be a star, but i do think he's going to be a good nba player.

It's good that Blatche is thinking big. I hope that means he'll put in a lot of time in the weight room in the off season in order to make it happen.

I agree that Blatche shouldn't be discussing his contract and if he's underpaid. In my opinion, up until the all-star break, he was overpaid.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. he took a 5 year, 15 million deal a few years ago to guarantee his time in the league. There was no guarantee he would have gotten the opportunity he has now. Had he signed a one year deal back then, he'd probably be out of the league by now or making league minimum somewhere else.

Flip now seems to be sold on him by those comments from the post and I think he likes the thought of a Gil-Blatche inside/outside duo.

You know what I like about that Fanhouse article though is Blatche's comments on his game. Its more than him just thinking that he's underpaid or whatever. If you look at some of his comments, he doesnt feel that no one can mess with him anymore. He feels like he's unstoppable and will be an All Star next year or close to it and I see that on the floor. He dont have any kind of fear of the elite guys and his game is growing by the game, literally. You can see game by game he is learning more moves and pulling them off easily against top guys

Sure, a small point guard can be a great player. Tiny Archibald for one. And see above for my estimation of Chris Paul.

But Collins doesn't have *near* as good college numbers as Darren Collison -- and Collison's numbers weren't near as good as Jameer Nelson or Chris Paul.

Collins is not a player in any of those guys' league. There's not much about the guy to suggest he'll be an NBA success. Admittedly, you're pointing to him as a potential round 2 choice. So... maybe he'd be ok. Doesn't appeal to me as much as e.g. Kenneth Faried at that spot.

tom. m- i say this about wes johnson because imo it's not that he's consistently showing us a great nba ready game, but he has flashes of brilliance. every once in a while he will make you say " this guy is going to be a star" and other times there's not much to say about him.

he's just not consistently showing he's a great player imo. imo he's one of the least nba ready "stars" out of this draft, like i said, i think he's a bit of a risk. i don't know if i see him turning into an nba star soon if at all. right now, he's just another al thornton to me.

as for the collins/paul comparison, i'm not saying he's that good, i'm just saying small guys are not as big of a risk as you may think. heck don't just look at paul, look at his "mini me" darren collison, he too is proof that a small pg can still do damage.

a great comparison for collins imo is jameer nelson, as they have very similar games. they are both small, play a scoring point role, and come/came into the league just needing a more consistent jumper.

In the Post this a.m.

'Saunders said that helping Blatche develop from a backup into a go-to guy after the all-star break has been "a lot of fun."

'Blatche has averaged 24.4 points and 9.5 rebounds in the past 16 games and Saunders said: "That's something we can hang our hat on. Knowing that we're going to have Gilbert, we're going to have draft picks and we're going to have a lot of cash. We're going to have the ability to change this team drastically. What we're trying to do now is see what we have. The decisions we have to make this offseason are as big a decision that we've made in a long time."'

I agree gray16 I could never find out what the restrictions were either.

Out of the RESTRICTED free agents I think Rudy Gay is the best.

23 years old, 6-8 Small Forward averaging 19.8ppg 5.9rbs 1.9ast. Also he is from Baltimore MD.

Again I don't think the Wizards have a chance to get any of the big unrestricted free agents, but going after Gay with a big contract maybe too much for Memphis to handle.

The future would be very bright with Rudy Gay and Andray Blatche both only 23 years old. I don’t want to over pay for a guy, but you have to go high or go home. Especially if the Wizards are able to void Gilbert’s contract money won't be a problem in stealing him away from Memphis.
