DJ, thought that you might like to know that TWO hangers at Dulles have collapsed because of the weight of the snow on the roof.
We have 24-30″ of snow on the ground and it is still falling hard. The directive is “shelter in place”. Is the NBA nuts in trying to get the game played in DC tonight?

I am glad that the team didn’t try to come back to DC – safety first. This also gaves them a few days to rest. Hope everyone does as good as Caron after he had a game off.

The following ticket exchange procedures have been put in effect:
· Patrons holding tickets for tonight’s postponed game vs. the Hawks can hold onto those tickets and use them for the rescheduled game, which has yet to be scheduled by the NBA. Details of that game will be announced at a later date.
· Patrons can also take their tickets for the Wizards vs. Atlanta game (2/6/10) to the Verizon Center Box Office and redeem their ticket for a ticket to the Wizards vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game on Wednesday, February 17th at 7:00 pm. There will be no service charges added.
· Wizards planholders can also exchange their tickets at the Verizon Center Box Office for the Minnesota game on February 17th, or redeem their tickets for one of the pre-selected planholder exchange games listed in their planholder on-line guide. No service charges will be added.
· Patrons still holding unused tickets for the game vs. the New York Knicks that was played on January 30th, who were unable to attend that game due to the inclement weather, can also turn in their unused tickets for the game vs. Minnesota on February 17th. No service charges will be added.

The Hawks-Wiz game would have been played if both teams could arrive in Washington since the Villanova-Georgetown game went on earlier today as scheduled.

Man the g-town game earlier was great. Really good fan support. Now time to watch the bulls heat game, someone has to lose so the wizards will be 6 games out after tonights game.
Phemy: The cavs just have great team chemistry, I would love to have hickson come to the wiz, he and blatche could both develop into solid pfs.

CAN HE SHOOT?

From ESPN:
Butler is the key to the trade proposals.
He is the centerpiece for both the Rockets (swap McGrady and others) and the Mavericks (swap Josh Howard and others) trades.
Problem is, if the Wizards go with Mavs, Josh Howard’s contract doesn’t end until next season, not this season. Wizards already have Andray Blatche – I don’t see why they need Josh Howard – who’s got a rap sheet of personal issues.
Let’s see which Western conference team (Mavs or Rockets) wants Butler more. I’m hoping it is Houston and not Dallas.

If he can breathe, we’ll take him….LOL…
Seriously, he plays D and attacks the rim. But who doesn’t look good playing with lebron?

In 15 minutes he was 5-7 and 5 boards, tonight. Honestly, with the proper coach, I would rather keep Caron and Brendan. Brendan should be on the court with a “real” 4. I don’t know why Flip doesn’t play with two bigs yet, on a regular basis. We seem to do so well when we do IMO.

Yeah, I don’t really buy in this “JJ Hickson i awesome talk”. David Lee said it right last night, “playing off Lebron and Shaq, man he got the easiest job in the world”. And I think that’s right…he was just feeding off Shaq/Lebron when they got double teamed and the D wasn’t focusing on Hickson at all. He got 10 quick points yesterday, all easy dunks…sure they were nice cut, but when he hast to play against defence… nah, I’m not that sure about him…

Wizards have good players but the 5 on the court at any given time may not be the correct combination and their lack of confidence as a team makes them seem worst than they are. Some of my examples are;
1. AJ and CB shouldn’t play together most nights but that combo works well against a few teams.
2. AB shouldn’t play center most nights but pf or sf.
3. The guards should have at least one experienced guard on the court most nights. Flip does okay with his guard substitution but DM and DS can bring the ball up for RF or EB. Most folks want the Wiz to get rid of DS but I like his heart and passion as a NBA player. I guess if AB had this I would support him too.
4. Flip will give minutes to players that score or are capable of scoring instead of looking for the right combo most nights.
I just don’t believe bringing in players from other teams will be the only answer for the Wizards. Definitely don’t like going with the young guns. Confidence as a team is a bigger issue.

Lockout is all I can think of. And star players won’t be more inclined to move if money is not a big factor.

nba players are spoiled as it is, making 20 million in a year?… come on now, that is beyond ridiculous to begin with.
i even heard dwyane wade when asked about taking a pay cut to have him, lebron, and bosh on the same team (to basically ensure championships lol) say that he has kids to feed… i mean i guess he needs to think about his kids and how 10 million won’t feed them smh.
these players should definitely accept a pay cut, and if they don’t things are going to get ugly for sure. it wouldn’t even surprise me if some players that were very money hungry went overseas to play, seeing as they don’t have a salary cap.
but stern, the nba, and marketing are smart. they know even if lebron, wade, and kobe weren’t in this league, they could easily find someone to take their place in the spotlight. they know how to market names with the best of them.

Hey has anybody heard any news about when they will announce the new owner of the Wizards? I wonder what type of guy he is, like if he is looking to build an immediate winner, just looking to make money, or just looking to rebuild……..Hopefully this dude is gracious with his money…..Oh yeah quick question, if a team receives a player in a trade with a contract for more than 1 year, if the team “buys out” that player’s contract once he is traded to the team, will the team still be responsible for how that contract affected the salary cap? Because I just thought of a great trade scenario that would involve us receiving another 1st round pick for this year! But, like I said, if anybody could help me out as to information about the new owner and the trade thing I said, that would allow me to know if it would be realistic or not!

Why should we frown on the players for not taking a pay cut? If the players are making that much, how much do you think the owners make? Why is basketball the only sport (may not be the only one…oh yeah football also) that has an age requirement? Hockey and baseball dont have age requirements (i don’t think we really want to go there). These players have been pimped until going to the pros and getting a “legal” salary. So I don’t blame them for going after it. Just because the fans don’t make the same salaries (some of them) doesn’t mean that we should define them or look down on what they make. They are entertainers, role models, etc
Things will work themselves out.
BTW-AJ ain’t blocking Dwades Dunk or Dunking on Dwade…LOL….would make for a good dream though….lol

The owners are just doing this as a means to normalize their business entity (i.e., nba franchise) to current economic conditions. But, we, as fans, shouldn’t be fooled and sympathize with either side.
dcbutler’s right – the owners are money hungry as much as the players.
If the Wizards are really losing that much money, the team would have been long gone.

UNC played like how the Wizards play on losing nights:
a) no transition defense when the Terps ran
b) taking jumpshots every possession (leading to point a)
c) no ball movement
d) not boxing out for rebounds

@ W4L
Since the SuperBowl is pretty boring (I kid, I kid), I went ahead to look up the info.
Here’s Gil’s stat line from his 60 pt game (notice he was 21/27 FTs! and made 5/12 threes)

Here’s LeBron’s stat line from last night (notice he was 7/7 FTs and made 6/12 threes)

LeBron scored 47 points. If he made 14 more free throws and matched Gil in that department, LeBron would have had 61 points.
That’s a pretty even comparison.
The only thing is – LeBron got his against the Knicks while Gil got his against the Lakers. Big difference in difficulty.

Caron kinda redeemed himself with a much more confident shot for him (baseline jumper) than whatever he tried to go against Marion in the Mavs game.
Caron’s still a solid player, but it is hard for him (don’t know why) to bring the effort he had against Orlando every night.
As mentioned yesterday, credit also has to be given to Foye-boi. Randy almost had a triple double.
