All I hope is that Gil is ok and I dont just mean him playing. I dont want him out there if he’s going to look like that ghost we saw from that long stretch during the year. I dont want him playing if he’s not going to be moving much or going full out. Now he has the 3 knee surgeries and thigh bruise on the same leg. Hopefully he can shoot it up or something. I was worried because he didnt come back in but he didnt sound too worried and sounded like he only did that because Earl and the 2nd unit were playing so well. I was 100% sure we would beat the Wolves but if Gil cant go or is limited then that could change things

Happy Holidays Everbody!

A question to everybody, has anyone heard of any trade rumors involving the wizards,(Dave, Glenn, Andrew) Have there been any rumors being talked about within the organization.

I want to start off by saying Happy Holidays everybody!! The past few days have been great for the Wizards, as we are now only 7 games away from being at .500, and really only 2 wins away from being in 8th place in the East!!! I hope the thing with the knee with Arenas last night isn’t too serious….it shouldn’t be, but then again the Wizards always seem to suffer big injuries on small things! lol Has anybody heard any updates on Gilbert’s situation? Is it just a bruise, or is it worse? Hopefully if it is just a bruise, he will just be listed as day-to-day, and will just need to rest over Christmas!!

All the best to everyone in Germany Phemy….

As for Reuben’s question–really no trade rumors….that is something you usually here from the outside…on the inside a team that wants to play up to its capability.. and I think we are seeing encouraging signs…especially Gilbert shaking more and more rust off

And as for Gilbert . He suffered a deep thigh bruise. Seemed fine after the game. He was listed as questionable to return when it happened so that was encouraging because it left open the possibility of him coming back last night ..So in short I don’t think there is anything to worry about..but will let you know if that changes

Happy Holidays everyone. Its been fun chatting with the other posters and really fun listening to & chatting with DJ, Glenn, and Sportswiz. Its just like being at the game.

BTW, I think I speak for all when I say RIP to George Michael. A true legend

Hey guys, from yesterday’s lack of offensive boards, there are two reasons. First of, we shot a very high percentage, meaning less chance of a rebound. And, second of all, flip said that every posession, Flip told the 2 guards and 1 forward to immediately sprint back to defense to remove the buck’s guards of having a fast break point. That strategy worked really well, the bucks only had 3 fast break points.

A few random thoughts…

The Bucks were beaten by a 5′5″ 139lb backup point-guard who chopped them to ribbons. That has to hurt. They were probably licking their chops went Gil got hurt.

Randy is working his way into the starting line-up better and better. Those 12 points he scored came in handy.

The fact that the Wiz came out of the second half attacking the basket and not try to ease their way into the game was key.

RIP George Michael. I can remember when he was a DJ at the powerhouse popular music station WABC in NYC.
I guess he went on to become quite the local legend in DC.

Merry Christmas to all. May Santa bring the Wiz and the rest of us the gift of good health throughout the year.

Hey, Sportswhiz – did Andray get my Christmas card?

On a sad note – WHY GIL? WHY NOW WITH DISTRACTIONS?

Happy Holidays Everyone :!: :!: :!:

Sorry to hear about George Michaels, he was the first sportscaster to introduce wrestling on his sports briefings, he was the first sportscaster that everyone talked about in school…..he made watching sports on the evening news fun, and made everyone stay up to watch his 11 pm show, because he always had something exciting to display…Prayers go out to his family

Wow, that story with Gil….seems like he was doing the right thing….no one caught him with illegal weapons, nothing was loaded. Maybe he should have just turned them in, without all the verbiage…..or he should have asked questions prior to transporting….sounds like he needs a mentor….

@SportzWiz – I may have mentioned this last year, but I never got any feedback so I’m going to try again. How about a promotion every home game in which the players all sign two of those east covers that are on their seats on the floor. One of the signed set covers is given to a lucky seatholder by lottery and the other is the subject of a silent auction where the dancers gather in the concourse prior to the game. The proceeds of the silent auction got to a Wizards charity.

Seconding everyone’s thoughts…its a shame to lose George Michael. He made the local sportscast worth watching. I’ve missed Redskins Report and Full Court Press…both were just plain fun shows to watch.

As for Gilbert, if the story is as he says…this sure sounds like a lot of worry over small potatoes. Hopefully it won’t effect his play as we’ve definitely shown some signs of looking halfway decent again.

What’s up with these athletes? What was he going to do with firearms in his locker? Is it a macho thing to own guns?
Is this the 2009 equivalent to our having ducktails? How old is the man? How many millions does he have? Isn’t it time to think of other things?

Anyone know how long his suspension will be for? Anyone know the status of Crittenton?

Now I am sorry, but I am a little ticked off that Andrea Bargnani has more than 120,000 votes…..he will never be an all-star caliber player…..I am also a little mad that Brad Miller had almost 30,000 and he isn’t even playing good basketball, and Brendan Haywood hasn’t even made the list yet!!! So all we need to do is go to nba.com and put the Big 3 for the Wizards on the ballot, whoever else you want on there, and then write in Brendan Haywood…..my suggestion would be for everyone to just put Dwight Howard in for the votes (even if you don’t like him), because he is guaranteed to start, and it takes away potential votes from the other Centers who are ahead of Haywood….that way when we write in Haywood he will catch up more quickly!! Well Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Comment from wizards_fusion

@ W4L:

Just want to clarify – all these votes you’ve posted are fan votes for the 5 STARTERS in each conference.

So, it doesn’t matter what votes Haywood gets because he’s not starting in the East over Dwight Howard or Shaq.

And, these votes mean nothing for the selection of the other 7 guys on the team because it is the all-star coach’s decision on who makes it.

If you want Haywood to get some love (or other Wizards), you write a letter to Flip Saunders and tell him to POLITIC his way with the all-star Each coach (right now, it looks like Doc Rivers) and force that coach to consider picking Haywood as one of the 7.

Comment from wizards_fusion
Time December 25, 2009 at 4:44 PM

I remember Eddie Jordan saying that he doesn’t do any politiking to get his guys on the all-star team because he thinks the stats should say enough.

Who knows what Flip thinks about these things. He may not care like Eddie. Flip is rather practical, so I don’t think he’ll care to call up the East coach and have a discussion.

In the end, I feel all 24 guys in the all-star game should be superstars no matter how well they’ve played this year. Fans only want to see superstars and Haywood ain’t no superstar. Heck, even Gilbert is on the fulcrum.

Comment from Wizards4Life

yeah McGee is good… he is just real raw he needs more of a NBA type C/PF style game… he can still do the flashy dunks and ooops but he has to learn to box out rebound and be in spots to help on D# and stop trying to block every shot and pick his spots… Haywood took a long time to learn that and i just hope it dose not take McGee that long… but he needs time on the floor no matter! 15 mins a night is nothing in the NBA and we all know that would help his game an give Haywood a rest and i think in some games he would have been a better choice that Fab

Comment from dcbutler357
Time December 25, 2009 at 8:20 PM

Even funnier, we haven’t won many without him getting minutes, so that argument is a draw….LOL….

Sooooooooooo, focusing on the original discussion “the all-star” game…..lol….

Seriously, with the right “schooling” he could/will be a beast. I just hope it happens with a wiz uniform on his back.

Comment from dcbutler357
Time December 25, 2009 at 8:24 PM

When we play teams with quick-leapers, McGee should be getting major minutes. Haywood is good, but we’ve seen him look like he’s walking in quicksand, against teams with quick/agile bigment. I just hope the wiz figure out a way to get him that experience. Because if we should get it together and make the playoffs, we will definitely need more than haywood down low (and I’m already factoring alberto into the mix)

Comment from tyrone20000
Time December 25, 2009 at 8:25 PM

Would you try McGee at the power forward with Haywood on the floor?

Comment from dcbutler357
Time December 25, 2009 at 8:31 PM

Heck to the yeah :!: :!: :!:

We really don’t need 4 scorers on the floor with Haywood, save some of that for the second unit (balance out the team). I’m not saying start him either, but he should be on the boxscore with more than a “DNP”. It may make both of their jobs easier. Plus, once AJ gets beat (which we know will happen), we have a second line of defense between the opposition and the rim. I know McGee is raw, but he’s got to get the experience somehow. If we can let players play 20-30 games to get their “rust” off or to learn a system, why can’t he get some experience. I guess this isn’t a two-way street, so I will digress ;-)
