jmalone, I’m wondering about your point of view re. Arenas. I’ve always thought him too short to be a SG. But maybe he just doesn’t have the composure to be a PG. On the other hand, consider the following stats on assists per 48 min of play:

Arenas 8.1
James 6.8
Crittenton 6.5
Boykins 4.7
Foye 4.4

Boykins, although he certainly looks like a PG, has actually been more of a shooter than a playmaker.

Magicman, if you sign Iverson, who are you going to cut?

Iverson’s too much like Arenas, I fear. However, the good news about Iverson is that he has averaged 7.2 assists per 48 minutes of play. Maybe at this point in his career he could be talked out of shooting. His shooting percentage isn’t good – we have others who shoot better.

Gray, during the last part of Jordan’s tenure he had lost the team IMO. There were almost no vestiges of the Princeton offense left. The team was playing as individuals and looked hopeless. EG had to do something. I REALLY hope that Saunders has enough credibility, reputation and personal persuasiveness to avoid the same thing happening to him that happened to Jordan. If he can’t get his system well installed this year I think EG ought to get what he can for Arenas and Jamison (maybe Butler also) and rebuild.

@Neal-hey those were great stats and info! Yes as of right now per 48 minutes Gilbert would average more, but we also have to consider that when he is running the offense based on these stats, he has it over 80% of the time. So let’s put Critt or Boykins with the same number of chances? I like Foye to back up Arenas, our problem is at the PG position (one of them IMO). Boykins showed flashes of being agressive and looking for teamates as well as scoring. I think he or Critt starting with Arenas would benefit Caron and Gil more, and get them into spots too be effective.

Eddie Jordan didn’t want to play the young guys and didn’t want to change how he ran things and wanted more players, etc etc etc….hence Eddie Jordan is gone. Why are we comparing him to Flip?

Good News is Cleveland played Golden State tonight, so even though they didn’t have to work to hard on offense, i’m sure they ran a lot on defense. Back-Back we may be able to run on them, and shaq is supposed to be out.

We’re not going to improvise or invent a point guard. Gilbert is our starting 1. Boykins played well the other night, but he is still just insurance because of our injuries.

As to signing AI, don’t you read the papers magicman?? Why did AI leave Memphis?

If there is one thing I wouldn’t want the wizards to do, it would be sign AI. Honestly, no offense magicman but that is a suicidal idea.
