Friday Practice Update

SportzWiz checking in…the Wizards will return to the practice court today and we will get updates on a couple players and their ability to play tomorrow night. In the mean time, usually we don’t post highlights or plays from around the league, but last night you might have seen the dunk of the year already….In case you missed it check out the video below.

UPDATE: Practice just ended, Mike Miller said he’s likely to play tomorrow and is being listed as probable, Antawn is still recovering from an illness and did not make it to practice he is questionable for tomorrow’s game, Randy Foye went through light jogging and is listed as day-to-day and finally Crittenton will be out of his boot on Monday and said it should take him a few weeks once it comes off before he’s back.

Great post of the Wade dunk video SportzWiz. I watched that game last night and saw the dunk…speachless!

I guess that it’s not just the Wiz who get shafted by the refs when we play the Cav’s…the Heat got it too last night.

We need someone that can explode to the rim like that to help wake up the crowd. I know dunks are only 2 points but it can change the mood of a team and crowd.

Oh sorry, I forgot we have Young and Mcgee they just don’t get playing time.

Although not “dominant”, I think Haywood is having a career year and is definitely above average for centers. IMO he is the one bright spot so far. He’s become a force on the offense, which is really good for us.

I hope antwaan doesnt have H1N1.. will miller start or are we going with boykins at the point and gil at the 2 to start the game?

neal- I agree. there are not many centers i would take over haywood to start center for us. I’d say he is the 7th or 8th best center in the league. well *best* may be a little misleading. Ill say he is the 7th or 8th most valuable center in the league. thats pretty darn good.

The Post said Boykins was signed to a partially guaranteed contract (to my surprise). So I guess we’ll have him for the rest of the year. However, if we get multiple injuries among our bigs we’ll probably have to cut a guard and just eat his salary in order to sign another big.

Does anyone have an opinion as to how well Foye is running things as the PG?

yeah the heat did get the shaft last night.. but thats not the only team the magic got hit with the LBJ refs too the only reason the cavs beat them is Howard sat most of the game in foul trouble..

that is not good to hear about AJ i hope he is ok and will return soon but its good to hear miller is on his way back we need him too

Haywood is a beast this year he has steped his game up over 3 years i for one think he is better than alot of Centers in the NBA

typical Wizards. Now when it looks like were finally starting to get healthy, AJ gets sick out the blue and is now questionable because of something other than the injury

It’s always a good dunk when you dunk on a known shot blocker. I still think Baron Davis on AK47 was the best.

That dunk was beautiful.

Nope
Kevin Johnson had two of the 5 best ever actually…
Off both feet over Utah’s Mark Eaton after going baseline comes to mind as the better of the two. He was literally sitting on his shoulders hanging on the rim with his right hand afterwards.
Baron’s was top 5 as well…

millie mill that AD dunk was just crazy. I thought the Baron Davis dunk was a top 5 but that AD dunk gotta be in that top 5 of all time

SportzWiz, it appears as though this year, just as last year, write-in votes for All-Star selections don’t count at all. Check it out. Vote and select a write-in; then send your votes to anyone and copy yourself. You’ll see that for the write-in position, you didn’t vote.

Can you shake some trees?

Good dunk by wade thought, i wouldn’t have posted it after losing to wade two games already. (speaking as a wiz fan)

Also its ridiculous to say that dunk was top five. Some of you guys must be under 18. MJ had 10 dunks in his last few years that no one will ever top. The best dunk for me has to be Vince Carter jumping over a guy in the Olympics. Baron Davis… maybe you can argue top five.

I put some thought into it and and put LBJ second. Anyone can dunk on “Varejao”, he’s not even an All-Star. Some players can even take it to the next level and dunk on an elite Superstar, which is more impressive. But when you dunk on the Raining NBA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, Thats hard to Hate ON!!! Just because it was the PlayOffs, not some meaningless regurlar season game in November.
believe me im not a fan, just keeping it real

LBJ over KG is top five

Random thoughts:

Eric Maynor starts for the Jazz, in his first starts gets a double double (think we could have used this guy)

@Wiz_Hype_Man-I know he all have opinions at that was a sick dunk by D Wade, however I agree with you there is no way that is top 10 all time, sorry!

Please you tube the following names, in no order what so ever:

Shawn Kemp
Scottie Pippen
Michael Jordan
Tracy McGrady
Vince Carter
Antonio McDyess
Domonique Wilkins
Dr J
David Thompson

And that is just a few names, youtube is a beautiful thing, anybody 25 and under do yourself a favor and review the tape.

@milliemill-I liked your links :!:

Speaking of dunks, I saw a pretty impressive dunk on youtube by some 5’5″ pipsqueak by the name of (Duke of) Earl Boykins grabbing a rebound and slamming it home in one motion.

Now that was unbelievable!

@ Millie Mil

Nick Young is in a funk and is a liabilty each time we put him on the court. I don’t know what is wrong with him but he can’t seem to do anything right and has no buisness being on the court right now.

Javale Mcgee has been getting some minutes and looking good

BTW we already have a guy who throws down dunks on a consistant basis and at one point was leading the league in dunks:

Brendan Haywood
