Walking On Sunshine
10:57 AM…Dave Johnson..just back from church but I heard a few Amens last night…..it was another fun night..just like the season opener in Dallas… the versatility this team is shining through–no Caron Butler but Mike Miller is able to slide to small forward and Randy Foye is able to slide into the starting lineup….It was a special night for Andray Blatche who is accomplishing more by doing lees. In other words, he is under control and as Glenn Consor noted last night on the radio broadcast–Blatche is not wasting time and energy with any extra motion. He is just making good moves and drives to the basket and good decisions on when to take his jumper. The ball movement again was terrific and Fabricio Oberto’spassing and intelligence on the court is being noticed ..great comments on the BLOGafter the game..including gbkdc noting that the next game is in his words against the Crab Dribblers….

that was a total team win last nigt of corse you got Dre and Arenas standing out but you had other guys doing work all over the floor in more than one way and all that with out CB3 and AJ that is just scary to think you have 2 all-stars on the bench and win a game by 20 points not only that but scoring 123

I’m hoping the team keeps playing cohesively, with confidence and with much heart!

Last night really showed our versatility on offense. Seemed like everyone had a hot hand, especially Gilbert and Blatche.
I’ve been a huge fan of Blatche for the start. His frame is screaming versatility. Now that he has a more disciplined work out ethic and his shot has seemed to improve, the sky is the limit for him. He’s definitely a front runner for Most Improved Player.
Now let’s travel to Cleveland and show the Cavs who’s really gotten better during the off season!

I was at the game last night DJ and it was special. I am a Pastor so I gave props today during my sermon. My favorite player Gil reminds me of the eagle whose strength is renewed in the valley. This season represents him flying out of the valley with new strength. Can I get an Amen?

What I am looking forward to is when we can get some respect from Charles Barkley. When we can be competitive and win the games we are suppose to win and go on the road and have a 50 to 60 per cent winning record and knock off the playoff teams then he will have to give us our props. I believe Chris Webber will make sure he does. I see it coming.

‘Dray’s game is different this year because he is playing in a real offense, a real defense, and for a real coach. He’s better on offense because he’s setting screens all over the place (just watch him) which gets him free for shots and those shots are more consistent for two reasons: (1) he doesn’t have to worry about missing and being sent to the bench, and (2) he’s getting much better looks so that he can take his time and square-up to the basket better (I think we can credit Sam for squaring-up and Gil for hitting the open man). He’s much better on defense because his responsibilities have been defined and since Stevenson, Foye, and Miller are playing great perimeter defense there is less of a chance for the inside players having to leave their man to get to a guard who has lost his defender and penetrated the lane.
Good team ball helps everyone be better, and the Wiz have played their best team ball in many years. When AJ and CB are back we should have more fire-power. I hope the team concept doesn’t get lost in everyone’s efforts to contribute.

BTW, ‘Dray’s picks need some work, but that will get better also.

DJ, last season Bridge said she was retiring from blogging (like Gil). Hopefully she pops her head in though.

A final BTW: I find it hard to believe that the sports writers/announcers are not putting it in large print and screaming it from the rooftops…15 for 18 from the field. Come on, how many nights did Wilt or Kareem shoot 83% from the field on that many shots…and their shots were mostly at point-blank range. The young man was spectacular!

Bravo GOBBO/GABBO
Also, AB was playing out of position, as well as other wizards, and that experience alone will make someone a better player.

I casually came across this on our team history on Wikipedia
I love how they describe Songalia getting suspended for an “inadvertant tap” to Queen James face.
But the best part is when they talk about the “crab dribble” If Wikopedia says its a travel then its a TRAVEL HAHAHAHAHAHAHA lol

Didn’t get to see the home opener but judging by the highlights and box score, we played great. Gilbert is Gilbert again. That is exciting. And how about Andray. Wow. 15 for 18 from the field? That’s nuts for anyone, but especially AB. He’s oozing confidence right now. Our team is solid right now. It’d be great if we can start 3-1 and handing the Cavs another L. Can’t wait til tomorrow night!

Hey Tom! Yeah, Jennings is alright but don’t forget about Jodie Meeks – he’s pretty good also. Good players like Jodie Meeks are always ignored though because the media have their way of just glorifying certain players.
This season, I’m just watching around the league – yeah, I’m still a Wizards and Bucks fan but I also like teams like the 76ers, the Spurs, and the Jazz – - great guys on those teams!
[My continuation on Blatche then I’m over with it…]
I’m just glad that this team has a coach like Flip, because with a coach like Flip, and despite what the media & fans have to say about Blatche, he believes in him. To have gone through so much adversity while on this team, that has to feel great for AB and I’m just so happy for that guy right now. To reiterate what I’ve been saying, and whether people like it or not, (I feel that) he’s the FUTURE!
And overall, despite missing some of the guys that’s gone, I DO like this “new look” Wizards team! Just proves that change is NOT (always) a bad thing.
Ok, I’m done. No more blogging for me!
GO WIZ

Bridgey… nonono, please don’t disappear again.
The team I’m worried about a bit is the Bulls — they have a shot to surprise.
