Caron's "shot" (& everything else about his game) will be fine...
But Tom, DSS can rarely find his shot (minus that miracle season of course - you know the one where he vanished in the play-offs, so no stat quotes from then please)..
If Flip is willing to let him come in from time to time & provide some defensive intensity while throwing up a few prayers that might actually drop on that rare night, fine...
But I doubt Flip will call on him to do much more.
If he does, then that means DSS is playing great ball & I'll be overjoyed.

dcbutler357, it looked like Caron was suffering a bit with Antawn out. They play off of each other a lot. But Caron is going to have to have to figure things out because even though I am a HUGE Caron fan, I too saw him impeding the flow of the offense. I don't really have any doubt that things will smooth out.

@Grif

It seemed like Caron was taking the offense out of its rythm a few times...good thing is that he stopped doing it.....

The nice thing is that everybody played well. Caron's shot wouldn't fall, but otherwise he was very productive. You could say the same thing about DeShawn.

Certainly, Gil and Randy both played well -- and Randy *definitely* has the position of first guard off the bench based on that performance -- but really the games of the night were by Andray Blatche and Mike Miller. Especially Mike, who only played 22 minutes, yet managed 8 boards and 2 steals and got 6 points off of 4 shots.

Coaching and substitution were outstanding too!! Flip may be a keeper? :)

This was a great game to watch. I would have joined you guys on the blogcast if I weren't finishing up a paper for school. Unfortunately my busy schedule will prevent me from blogging on most nights but I will try to get on here with you guys here and there... from what I saw tonight it looks like it's going to be a promising season.

Disappointed that Nick Young and JaVale McGee didn't get any playing time. I'm surprised Mike James never saw the court either, seeing as James is a veteran with experience. But I really liked the production our offseason acquisitions made. Mike Miller nailing 3's, Randy Foye scoring 19 off the bench, and although Fabricio Oberto didn't really fill up the stat sheet he was sure harassing Dirk Nowitzki all night long. Sucks that Oberto did get hit with foul trouble right away but Andray Blatche more than picked up the slack for Oberto. I like Blatche's attitude this season, reflected by his jersey number change to 7.

We're only 19 wins away from surpassing all of last season's total.. 1-0. Let's keep this train rolling!!

39 points off the benh and only 9 turnovers were keys to victory.

Unbeleivable that ESPN gave Lebron didn't even win his game queen james the "performer of the night" I guess Gils 29 and 9 after missing almost 2 full seasons and getting an opening night win against Dallas wasn't considered by ESPN to be as good as a Losing Lebrons performance

I don't know or care so much about numbers DCB but I'd guess Caron would have been involved in more Iso's or more to the point just taking his man off the dribble. I don't see many plays run for Caron. He seems to work at his best as a free lance kinda guy.

I wonder if I went and looked at film of Caron during his all-star year, if I would see him with a lot of ISOs? moreso than him benefiting from Gil pulling in the D and him hitting open shots....

YAHTZEE :!:

We Got a Big Boy Team this year! That was just flat out fun to watch. I guess that answers a few questions about the rotation... I like it. Foye and Miller were teriffic additions. Oberto increased his average minutes and played amazing basketball defensively. Defense? From the Wizards? I don't know what Flip is putting in their corn flakes but keep putting it in lol. IF Andray keeps playing like "that" ..... wow guys. I know it's only one game, but, it was against a very good team in their house and we were never really threatened. What a Game.

WELCOME ALL THE WAY BACK GILBERT :)
