One More Day
SportzWiz checking in…We are just one day until the Wizards kick off their regular season against the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30pm. It’s amazing how fast summer flew by with the hiring of Flip Saunders, the blockbuster trade in which the Wizards acquired both Randy Foye and Mike Miller, the signing of Oberto, an unbelievable training camp and it all begins for real tomorrow.
The Wizards have talked about an intensity in practice building for the opener and we will see if that continues today when the Wizards host their final practice before the season starts (not including shootaround tomorrow) at Verizon Center. Not sure if we will hear an announcement on the starting line-up but if we do I will post that here as well as any other tidbits that come out of practice and of course video. Get ready folks we are just one day away from what we all hope can be a magical season!
UPDATE: We officially found out today that Paul Davis made the team…We will have video from him as well as Flip and Antawn….Still no word on the starting lineup.

Wizards to win it all (eternal optimist).
At Fedex tonight. Go home. Sleepwalk through work and then COUNTING DOWN THE MINUTES and then through the pregame show. (I was dreaming of getting on my lear jet (a big dream) and landing in Dallas and then into my Limo)).

Congrats Paul. I love how he came here because of Gil. I remember reading where a fan said he went out to “Attacks” in the Summer and saw the pickup games with stars like Gil, Lebron, Wade, and so on. He said he came out to see Lebron but Gil was by far the best player there and was making Iggy & Paul Davis look like stars.
When I saw him out here I knew he came because of Gil made him look like a star and Im glad he made it. That was awesome

Congrats Paul for making the team and capitalizing on the opportunity. I only have on suggestion, that is to go score like you did in Chicago and have no fear! We need you and the rest of the second team to burn rubber and tear down the boards!
Good Luck.

Congrats to Paul Davis. I’ve been following Davis ever since he was at Michigan State. I have no doubt he’ll be an integral part of our team and be a factor in our post season run!
Welcome Paul!!!!

I’m sure it’s not guaranteed — and I can’t imagine it’s for more than the veteran minimum.
Hope he sticks, but I would have to guess he’ll be gone by January. Past that point, he has to be guaranteed, and his salary starts to cost double because of the Luxury Tax we pay on him.

Tom, here is also what that fan said that day but youve probably already seen it:
live in chi-town and i had a chance to watch pick up game today that included KINGJAMES-DWADE- OJ MAYO- GILBERT- WILL BYNUM-A WALKER-and it shocked me becuz i went there to see the KING and GILBERT AKA AGENT 0 was by far the best player there he made paul davis and AI from philly look like gods …i witness it myself he drove pass everybody like they were not in the gym if he was gettn fouled he scored everytime the refs had to put a foul rule in becuz they were just fouling he so he couldnt score his team was 8-0 GILBERT OJ MAYO-PAUL DAVIS AI FROM PHILLY AND A NOBODY WENT UNDEFEATED other two teams..LABRON- DWADE-LUTHERHEAD -WILL BYNUM-A WALKER… 3rd team..SBROWN FROM LAKERS-QRICHARDSON-BONZIE WELLS-LITTLE PARGO-and a ROOKIE…so it was great coop..I also heard about GILBERT in the pro-am i didnt get to watch the games but i did here the games he played he scored 52-38 39 47 and he came at half time and scored 38…the only reason im commenting is becuz a reporter ask if he would speak on his play and he said…the media my friends the city of DC gave up on me and thinks im done…so let them think it…and labron said i know whos in the race for MVP next season ill see yall in the playoffs

Thats also why Gil & Bynum were going so hard at eachother when they played Detroit. They were working out all summer together and Gil took Bynum under his wing since they went to Arizona together. Mayo also said that Gil & Billups took him under there wing over the summer and now he’s going to pass more

@ GABBO:
Wow – I don’t really know how to respond to your latest comment (from previous thread) except I completely disagree with 100% of it.
What you said about Andray is analogous to telling a kid in school that since he’s not “smart enough” he shouldn’t be taught to think like the “smart kids” that are in advanced classes and magnet schools.
Since Gil is one of your favorite players, let’s use him for my example. Arenas came into the league as a bench guy at Golden State. Do you think that he’ll be where he is now IF his mentality is just to be a role player or if he was limited by his coaches to not explode and try to be a superstar?
I like Blatche quite a bit and I continue to think the sky is the limit for him. Therefore, it makes no sense to me why anyone would try to limit him in any way – “mentality or otherwise”. Although Andray is very mistake-prone, he has shown me that he belongs in the NBA. At the end of Blatche’s career, he is most likely going to be a role-player and not a starter for any team. However, if he played with the knowledge and passion of a starter even when his role is coming off the bench, his game will be that much more valuable.
Andray is a versatile weapon and Flip is going to use him – A LOT. I really think Andray is going to start in place of Jamison at PF and not Oberto or McGee. If Andray plays well until Jamison comes back, he’ll have earned more minutes. 12/7 is going to be real tough for Andray to maintain for the season, but if there’s one guy that is a bench guy that can do it for the Wiz, it is most likely Blatche and not Foye or Young or McGee.

Redskins = comedy of errors
Wizards = it’s go time! Let’s try to steal one from Dallas. Blatche is going to have a his work cut out from him trying to ‘contain’ Dirk.
I think the Wiz will out-foul Dallas about 1.7:1. It is a weird prediction but I’m sticking to it.

Caron Butlers Blog is as good as Gils. Instead of being funny hes serious as can be but more real. This team is going no less than the ECF!
Have a great year Agent0, and the better we are the more im going to bet on you once its the playoffs. Ill bet at least a 1000 if we are that good that we win it. DONT PROVE ME WRONG!

Congratulations to Paul Davis. It’s always nice to have a big man at the end of the bench.
Looking forward to AJ video.
