Monday Links/Dave Johnson Video

SportzWiz checking in…I hope everyone had a great weekend. Obviously the big news of the weekend was Gilbert Arenas and his performance at Barry Farms. For more info on Arenas you can check out Washington Post beat writer Michael Lee’s and Washington Times beat writer Mike Jones’ coverage of the game.

We also had the chance to catch up with Dave Johnson following Oberto’s press conference and as you can see in this video he is very excited about the upcoming season.

Lastly, NBA.Com followed around one of the newest Wizards, Randy Foye, you can learn more about his life growing up by clicking here.

The Randy Foye video segment is *very nice indeed.* A high quality person — and that’s what we like around here!

Oberto instead of Joe Smith doesn’t figure with me. Sure, Oberto will be good for chemistry. But has Smith every been considered a bad apple? And isn’t Smith a much better player? There’s a good chance that some time during the season Haywood or McGee will be out for a while and our third C will be logging a lot of minutes.

Title?

To me, it’s a big question mark if we can secure home court advantage in round 1 of the playoffs. The elite teams of the East — Cleveland, Boston and Orlando — all improved significantly this off-season, and Atlanta won 47 games this year and hasn’t gotten worse.

neal — Oberto has been a little less consistent than Smith, but at his best he’s actually been better (’06-7 & esp. ’07-8). Last year he fell off a little. If he can play like he did 2 seasons ago, he’ll be a steal.

But both these guys are well into the down side of their career; no predicting for either of them.

Wizards ranked 9th overall, 4th in the east.

The Randy Foye video was good. HQ character, we’ll have good locker room.

The Randy Foye video was great and it was important for me to see because just like our own Agent Zero he has a great story to tell and I’m all ears! The character that he portrays is right up there with the best of them and I hope he makes a great impact and foundation right here in the Washington DC metropilitan area with his outreach programs! I see the stars at night win I think about this guys potential and I hope everything he hopes and dreams come to fruition. Good luck you are now part of our family!

The pet word for the entire season is what can you bring to the court on a consistent basis. Consistency, consistency will be the word I use all year long when it refers to break out players like Randy Foye,Andray Blatche and Nick Young, Mcgee and also Deshawn Stevenson because the house needs a great foundation if it is to last and we need a great base to hold all the weight! The words need to be written and the coaches need to implement the plan from the start to accomplish it so theres no miscommunication to whats expected!

Nice to see us ranked so high. It’s going to be fun to watch us — we are a very different team than we’ve ever been.

SportzWiz, I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing the same things that I am, but the blog web site doesn’t seem to be functioning as it should. Frequently, when I click on the option to access the blog absolutely nothing happens; other times I might get an error stating that the page is not available. While it’s not a big deal now, this is probably going to be a real issue once the season starts and we have a lot of bloggers trying to get on the blog at the same time.

gabbo did the error you saw come on just Thursday and Friday?…There was a small area that had an issue with the blog over that two day stretch and that problem has since been fixed.

Not sure on the other issues you are talking about…

WordPress is a very simple, robust platform — many millions of WordPress blogs, some of them much higher traffic than this one, work reliably day in and day out.

That tells me the people who put up this blog for you don’t really have the skills they need. The season is coming, as Getabig says; do we really want to be clanking bricks online when it’s here?

Ask somebody in the organization for some help and a little budget to get this straightened out.

Tom have you noticed any problems?

It was not the hosting site, personally I havent had issues since the first week or two we went up. Trying to figure out what problems people are having…

Actually, despite what I said, I haven’t had a lot of problems lately — though I did have a couple of periods a few days ago where the site gave me an error message.

Often, however, I have to *reload* the browser page before I can get the blog to take a comment — don’t know what causes this.

Without any doubt, there are more problems than I experience with any other blog that I can think of, and more than there were before the “redesign.”
