after hearing the press conference and hearing what mike miller and foye had to say i feel so much better about this trade. miller is gonna take a lot of the attention of caron, antwan, and gil. plus miller will get more open looks for sure. now i hope we take a pf with our 2nd rd pick.

I hate the trade and the answer to our dearth of big men won't be found in tonights draft.

Seems to me, the trade ensures another season of watching these guys chunk up a three ball as the clock winds down. Moving Etan and Songalia cleared the space and the fifth overall pick guaranteed suiters. We should have made our pitch for a GOOD post weapon.

Stevenson and/or James won't get us what we need. Wiz fans will hate this, but with Miller here we may have to consider something involving Jamison or ugghhh...choke..cough ..BBBBButler.

The 5 pick is tough to give up because a future stud will be available...
Love Etan as a man...
Love Songs grit...
Bye Bye Pech...

Wish we coulda somehow had James in that mix!

Everyone knows I like Crits upside so I hope he competes in camp & doesn't get lost on our guard heavy shuffle (that's unfortunately been the problem everywhere he's been)...

All that to say, nice to lose some dead weight & a little salary obligation.
Nice to add some backcourt pieces so that guys like Dee Brown, Mike James & Juan Dixon aren't running our show from time to time this season.

Enjoyed reading all of the comments thus far...
Although my stomach does hurt from laughing everytime someone said "good for Pech, maybe he'll get a chance to contribute" or words similar.
Even on his way out the door, you guys are delusional.
Good luck Stewie, don't the the door hit you...

Good trade! we got scoring punch off the bench, long range shooting, and added competition to our roster. Lets draft Taj Gibson in the 2nd round or an scrappy player like Jeff Adrien and look forward to seeing the maturation of Javale McGee in Summer League.

This is a very good trade on a number of fronts.

1. It makes us a much better team for '09-10. We should contend for home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs -- assuming everyone stays healthy.

2. It costs us nothing. Darius is a great guy and a heady basketball player, but he is limited physically for his position and doesn't really put up good enough numbers as a result. Obviously, Pech and Etan aren't much of a loss to us.

3. Ernie gets rid of his mistakes -- all the 3 guys we traded were GM mistakes. Ernie matched at too many $$ for Etan, drafted the wrong guy in Pech, and signed a guy who couldn't deliver what he wanted from him in DSong.

4. You can think of this pick as ET/DS/OP for Foye (not much for not much -- a wash) and Miller for pick 5. Foye is not a contributor; his numbers are way below average, but Miller sure is: he is one of the top wing players in the game and is quite under-rated.

Basketball is about the future and the present both -- Mike is good right now. Maybe the guy we got at 5 would be good in the future, but who knows. If Curry is still on the board at 5, I'll have a twinge of regret. Other than that, I'm happy with this trade.
