I kind of like Patrick Beverly.

Other than Lawson, I think these are all guys projected in round 2 if at all.

Does anyone really want the man who wouldn’t stand for our National Anthem to be a member of the team that represents our nation’s capital?????? I don’t want Josh Howard anywhere near a Wizards uniform.

September 18, 2008
“In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson’s charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: ” ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is going on. I don’t celebrate this [expletive]. I’m black.”"

I forgot Howard did that.

Yeah i remember howard doing that…we will see what happens

In these workouts its Patrick Beverly who i like and also of course Ty Lawson. Rest like tom said are 2nd rounders to undrafted.

Again, either EG does not care about these workouts, or he is trading down.

I want to see guys slated at the 5th spot like Derozan, Harden, curry, etc.

Come on EG!!!

TWO WEEKS BABY!!!

Don’t expect us to use the 5th pick. I’d be very surprised if we used it. If we pick straight up we have no second round pick. Too many teams want our pick to sit back and wonder what if.

I see a trade or multiple trades coming with our 5th pick. It’s just high enough to make the teams at the middle to bottom of the draft excited. but, not high enough to do us any good. Before you say anyting… I like Harden and Curry too, but, both would be NBA rookies and probably wouldn’t help us for a year or more. Our core players aren’t getting any younger. We need to find a team middle of the draft pack to want our pick and be willing to take a “contract” off our back to get it along with giving us their pick and a good vet. Without some sort of 5th pick trade scenario we will have no second round pick.

Good Morning,

We can’t say anything about another player’s choice of words, when we have Gil saying what he wants to say at any given time(He hasn’t done it lately, but he was off the chain). Remember, these players are young men and because of their skillset, they were not “properly” groomed (not all, but quite a few), because they were pushed to keep making chedda for whomever, instead of being corrected in their “ways”….

Howard is good, but he’s too up and down, somewhat in the same fashion as Blatche earlier in the year. We need consistency, not a “hope”.

DraftExpress has put up a revised mock draft showing us taking Curry at #5 and Marcus Thornton at #32.

Obviously, we can’t take 2 guys in this draft unless we somehow do a 2 for 1, or 3 for 2, trade along the way. But, leaving that aside, I’d be *very happy* if we actually wound up with these 2 rookies.

When Thornton worked out for New Orleans, Byron Scott (a great 2 guard himself back in the day) came away extremely impressed. As to Curry, I think he is going to be a big time NBA player.

When I see Patrick Beverly, who’s going to be in working out today, I think “Rajon Rondo.” An idle dream, no doubt, but he seems to be the same kind of player.

Lawson, on the other hand, makes me think of Jameer Nelson. Like Nelson, Lawson seems to be slipping on draft boards because of his size.

Nelson is an excellent NBA point guard. I can’t see why Lawson won’t be one as well.

I like both Curry and Ty Lawson, but unless we are giving up on Arenas, those are both wasted picks. Gilbert needs and wants the ball. The only reason it made sense to play him alongside Larry Hughes was because Larry was a defensive stopper who always played the opposing team’s best guard. Neither Curry nor Lawson can do that.

Then again if Curry is willing to play the role of his dad and come off the bench and nail 3-pointers (a la Roger Mason), then we could use him (but for the 5th pick?! I’m not convinced yet that Nick Young is a bust).

The 2 areas where we are weakest are DEFENSE and FRONT-COURT. It’s a shame that there is nobody at the 5th pick to clearly address either of those issues, (Blake Griffin might have addressed both).

Ron Artest seemed to control himself last year. Can anyone else see him in a Wizards uniform?

Ridiculously happy.

As for this crew. I like Taj Gibson okay though he’s an out-of-position tweener. Plays pretty exclusively in the low-post but doesn’t quite have the beef to really excel there. Was the best player on the squad much of the time playing next to Nick Young. Never stints on the effort.

Ty Lawson I’ve mentioned before. Okay he had a DUI incident before the season, maybe not the best judgment to add to the squad, but a proven team leader. These are all trade-down possibilities and round two guys. If Lawson slips that far then he’s a significant bargain. If you have an open roster spot, you pretty much have to take him as a bench back-up to Gil.

I have mixed feelings on the Ginobili rumors. He’s not the most durable guy and we’ve been injury smitten, with question marks about the efficacy of our medical squad.

The group just finished. Demar derozan is doing an individual workout now. We will have pictures and videos from both

Thornton is an absolute steal at 32… STEAL!
Might be a perfect example of how dodgy these drafts can be as I’d love to compare he & Curry’s first three seasons in a few years.

I really hope the Ginobili rumors are false. If he was going to play 70+ games and the playoffs, pull the trigger, but that is highly unlikely.

If we were to do it, no young guys should go to them.
The only one i would even consider would be blatche.

I dont want to see another Mitch Richmond trade go down.

The DeRozan video was kind of funny — other than his shooting motion which wasn’t funny.

Lawson is a little monster. A tough kid. I wish I could figure out exactly which one of these guys is Beverly. Am I right that Pargo is in a black shirt, then Beverly is the other guard on one of those 2 teams. Was it he who threw the alley oop for Heytveldt?

M2 — yes, it’ll be fun to compare it’ll be fun to compare reality with “draft-ality” in a few years. It always is.

The weird thing is that you *know* there’ll be someone on noone’s radar today who turns into a terrific player.

im pretty sure its pargo. But I could be wrong. Beverly and Lawson switched teams which also makes it tough because I don’t know who was playing with who at that time based on the video.

It’s easy enough to see who Lawson is — his body type is different from the other guys. Ditto Pargo, who has lighter skin tone. It’s the other two guys.
