Workouts Begin Tomorrow/Big Games Tonight

SportzWiz checking in…Just an FYI to all our bloggers, Pre-Draft workouts will begin tomorrow and we will have coverage of all workouts from here through the draft. I haven’t gotten a final list on who’s coming in yet, but check in tomorrow for more information (if I get it tonight I will post it when I have it)

Wesley Matthews G Marquette Madison, WI 6’5”, 215 lbs.* Averaged 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists during his senior season (2008-09) at Marquette
* Was named to the 2008-09 All Big East Second Team

Dionte Christmas G Temple Philadelphia, PA 6’5”, 205 lbs. * Averaged 19.5 points and 5.8 rebounds during his senior campaign (2008-09) at Temple
* Led the Atlantic 10 Conference and Temple in scoring during his final three seasons in college
* Was named 2008-09 Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press

Jermaine Taylor G Central Florida Tavares, FL 6’4”, 205 lbs.* Averaged 26.6 points and 5.2 rebounds during his senior season (2008-09) at Central Florida
* Finished third in the nation in scoring during his senior year

Kyle Spain F San Diego State Newark, CA 6’5”, 209 lbs. * Averaged 14.1 points and 5.3 rebounds during his senior season (2008-09) at San Diego State
* Led the Aztecs in scoring and rebounding during his senior year

In other NBA news, two big games tonight as Boston-Orlando and Houston-LA are tied at 2-2 heading into game five tonight. It should be interesting to see how Orlando responds after losing a tough game 4 at home that would have given them a commanding 3-1 lead. On the other side of the spectrum, the Lakers came out extremely flat against a short-handed Houston team that brought a ton of energy in game four.

Is it safe to assume Blake Griffin won’t be doing any pre-draft work outs?

I doubt he really has to Vitality. Nobody else is even being considered as the top pick I don’t think.

Nice line up for the first work outs. I guess you kinda nailed that one Doc. looks like we are looking for a guard in the second round. The fact that we are considering a second round pick is encouraging.

These are all second round players at best. I wonder what’s really going though Erine’s head.

most top ranked first rounders usually don’t start their workouts until after the draft lottery takes place next Tuesday.

Plus, we do have a very high 2d round choice.

Doesn’t it cost money to have players come and workout?

Great question! I assume it costs *them* money — fronted by their agents, presumably.

Nice interview with Jermain Taylor on nbadraft.net.

I only ask because I play video games. When after playing the regular season they ask if you want to have any Pre-Draft workouts and it cost X-amount of dollars. Why would the Wizards have workouts and spend money if they are not thinking about bring in the second-rounder?

Taylor looks good.. real quick.. would like to know if he could play some D but he can sure dunk lol but i think a quick guy to slash down the lane draw some people and pop out to a open guy would be worth a 2nd round pick even if he truns out to be a project..

I can’t figure out who’s who in the video — probably my screen. Which one was Taylor — in a white jersey?

Taylor is in white along with Spain.

Spain is the one that hits a three in the 2nd highlight
