12:52 AM EDT Dave Johnson getting an early start….need one on this trip…it is going to be busy play tonight here in Salt Lake City and then on to Los Angeles….we are running into a hungry Jazz team that is in a scramble for a playoff spot in the west….we heard on the post game show and on the BLOG that the Wizards had good effort during their just completed home stand which ended with Sunday’s win….and yes Sunday’s win over the Kings was closer than it should have been but it was just fun to win….Antawn Jamison is just a model professional and is now averaging close 25 points per game since the All-Star break….Caron Butler is with us on the trip but we will have to wait and see when he will go as he continues to nurse a hamstring strain…..I will check back later but remember…….BLOGCAST—live radio and blogging together—starts tonight at 9….on the radio on ESPN 980 AM…94.3 FM in Warrenton and Northern Virginia…92.7 FM in Southern Maryland…1370 AM in Baltimore and great affiliates from Cumberland to Roanoke…..

The only way to beat the Jazz is for Deron Williams to get selfish (like he did in their latest road swing) and not run the pick-n-roll.
AK-47 is fragile now with no confidence. Boozer takes himself out of games for being non-aggressive. And Brevin Knight is 55 years old – enough said.
Okur is the guy the Wiz centers need to be aware of. His 3pt shooting will force Andray, JaVale, and Darius to move outside the painted area – leading to penetrations from Williams off of the high pick-n-rolls. And Ronnie Brewer is energy off the bench and he can light it up quickly.

Not a bad idea to rest both the starting forwards and have them fresh for the more easily beaten Clips.
Utah is a great team, and they are on something of a mission this year (as there are probably big changes coming in the off-season — lots of FAs). Be tough to beat.
Be *fun* to beat too!

On another note, Brevin Knight played a couple of games in a Wizard’s uniform…..however I forgot which deal brought him to D.C. Maybe someone refresh my memory….I know he didn’t stick around for very long.

Brevin Knight was with us part of the year in ‘03-04. He had been at Phoenix; I don’t remember a trade with Phoenix.
He’s 33, and he has been a pretty good player, actually. Pretty under-rated (in addition to being under-sized — his biggest problem). He plays good defense, he gets *a lot* of assists, right up there with the top point guards, steals about as many as turnovers. His big problem is he shoots a low %. He had a couple of very good years w/ Charlotte, and he was good as a rookie. He’s 33, and I think all his numbers have been somewhat down the last couple of years.

This is about the fifth game in a row that Critt has played totally out-of-control. He can’t just put his head down and barrel toward the basket. Do we have a guard coach?

The jazz did have a 12 game streak a few games ago and are one of the better teams (disciplined and exploit weaknesses), so if you don’t come with your a game, well we see the results.

What the heck…Pech is shooting great and is open and McGee takes that stupid jump shot from the top of the key when Pech is standing 10 feet from him.
McGee should not be allowed to shoot from anywhere beyond 6 feet from the basket.

true, when I started watching, the jazz had a consistent 10 point lead that the wiz couldn’t penetrate, and in the third the jazz went down low and forced their will/plus our turnovers and missed layups, and the route was on.

I don’t mind who’s on the roster, as long as it’s in the best interest of the team. I guess they can stay, since I can think of two or three other players that need to move on…make that three or four players that need to go

Pecherov played a great game given he hasn’t gotten more than a few minutes here and there. He scored, he defended the middle well (even got a block), and was the only Wizard to be in the+ range. What a shame we didn’t give him a few minutes in games earlier.
We have sqandered our players talent this season (I thought Eddie Jordan did that too). I’d like to get a coach that can really see the skills eveyone brings to the team and be able to formulate an offense and defense based on the player’s skills.
Granted on or around draft day things have to change. Let’s all hope we get a coach that can put the talented pieces together.
It’s going to get very interesting around this joint around draft day.
PS… Play Pecherov More. We will need him here or we will need him to “catch some GM’s eye”.

I couldn’t watch the game — other stuff to do — but dvr’d it. I did watch the first quarter.
I will definitely watch the 2d half at least, to see Pech’s minutes.
As to keeping Pech and Juan: Pech is under contract. We have 2 high draft choices, so Juan will go. I imagine there’ll be some kind of trade as well, but it’s beyond me at this point to understand what it might be. Not til mid-late July anyway, after the FA period opens.

Good early morning Dave.
We are up against a very good team in the Jazz. I suggest sitting both Caron and Antawn in this game. Give Caron time to heal and give Antawn time to catch his breath for Wednesdays game against Clippers.
By no means am I giving up the game against the Jazz. I think our young guys match up pretty well against them. In fact, if Andray plays Kirelenko tough we could win. Dominic on Boozer. Crit can handle Brevin or any other guard on their roster defensively. Nick is going to be the intangible one in this one. If he has a good night on both ends and Andray can handle Andre (lol) we really could win.
