Back In D.C.
SportzWiz checking in… Great to see the Wizards pull one out last night and take over in the late third. Too many times its been the opposite this season and it was great to see a total team effort last night in the win. Obviously a great night out of Darius Songaila who went 8 of 9 from the floor.
The team landed around 3am last night so there will be no practice today before the team starts a 3-game homestand on Wednesday.
As I stated last week, on Thursday we will be hosting a live chat with Caron Butler at 2:30 p.m. You can send in your questions now to Caron by clicking here.
As always folks, I will be checking back here often so if you have any questoins please send them along and we will do our best to answer them.

I saw the last part of the game. We won in spite of our D.
I know there’s no love for Tapscott on this blog, but I think he has the guys playing better than they were at the first of the season under Jordan. That’s not to say they’re playing up to their potential, that I can understand his substitutions, or that I want him back.

My impression is that Tapscott is very good at seeing what the players ought to be doing – probably better than Jordan. But what is most needed is the guy who can INSPIRE (through either negative or positive motivators) the guys to really go all out on both ends and to play unselfishly on the offensive end.
How do you motivate a bunch of pros to go beyond their comfort level when they’ve already made more money than they’ll ever need and they see no possibility of their team going for a championship? I certainly don’t know.

My last question made me look up which team had the most retired numbers. The anwser is Boston, soon they will be wearing three digit numbers. LOL
00 – Robert Parish
1 – Walter A. Brown, team founder and former owner
2 – Red Auerbach, former head coach and executive
3 – Dennis Johnson
6 – Bill Russell, player and head coach
10 – Jo Jo White
14 – Bob Cousy, player and broadcaster
15 – Tom Heinsohn, player, head coach and broadcaster
16 – Satch Sanders
17 – John Havlicek
18 – Jim Loscutoff (gave permission for number to still be worn) 18 – Dave Cowens (played after Loscutoff with the same number)
19 – Don Nelson
21 – Bill Sharman
22 – Ed Macauley
23 – Frank Ramsey
24 – Sam Jones
25 – K.C. Jones, player and head coach
31 – Cedric Maxwell
32 – Kevin McHale
33 – Larry Bird

That’s pretty incredible — and a pretty incredible franchise!
