Getting Ready For Orlando
Well folks I think I speak for a few people when I say it has been a long time coming. Great win by the Wiz yesterday against one of the top teams in the NBA and just a great overall atmosphere yesterday at Verizon Center. Can’t say enough about the Wizards defense and rebounding yesterday.
The Cavs entered the game as one of the top rebounding teams in the league (#3 in rebound differential) as well as the top team in the league in offensive effiency according to John Hollinger. However the Wizards held the Cavaliers to a season-low 77 points (previous was 85 vs. Boston) and outrebounded them 52-35.
Just a great effort by the whole team. The Wizards now will finish off arguably their toughest five-game stretch of the season on Tuesday against Orlando.
Beginning on Monday December 29th the Wizards have played Houston, New Orleans and Boston on the Road, Cleveland at home and then Orlando on the road. Those teams combined for a record of 119-38 and the Wizards have the chance to leave this five game stretch with a 3-2 record if they can pull out a win tomorrow.
This team has really started to play better basketball and it all seemed to start in that Christmas night game to Cleveland.
I’ll be heading down to practice in a little while and as always I will let you know what I hear.
UPDATE FROM PRACTICE:
Just got back from practice. A lot of talk about the game last night, the teams recent play, the “crab dribble” and how gil is coming along.

Great quote from Caron today after practice
Reporter: “What is a crab dribble?”
CB3: “A crab dribble. A crab dribble is when you….travel.”

Well, we’ve shown we can beat a top team if they have an off day. We can’t hope that the Magic also has an off day. I really hope we can play them straight up anyway.

Now Caron, Antawn, Juan, Mike, Nick need to do some time with Dave Hopla to get a consistent 3 pt threat going.

Ok; what the hell is a crab dribble again??

I googled it and one coach defines it as “The most overlooked dribble maneuver is what is called a crab dribble. What is a crab dribble? It is when the dribbler has their back to a defender and dribbles the ball between their feet with step-slide footwork.”

Well – in that case, he traveled his butt off lol. Hey, at least Lebron can be known as the one who made people research ‘what is a crab dribble’ more…Always gotta look at the good in a situation right?? LMAO
Thanks rgz!
GO WIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whether crab or no crab, the fact that LeBron took three steps without dribbling is why it is a travel.

Great comments by everyone, I especially loved Tawn’ comparing Gil to Batman, that was fun!
For the rest, I’m of course still laughing about all the crab talking ![]()
Tomorrow’s gonna be much tougher, muuuuuch tougher…. Guarding superman while in the mean time guarding the three is close to impossible for us. Considering we played our butts off on last game and scored 81 I think we can say we are not a real offensive threat… How are we gonna manage that?? Will Mcgee play 32 minutes, grab 15 rebounds, have 11 blocks and 12 points en route to be the first former WNBA player’s son to get a tripple double?? I sure hope, let’s check back tomorrow

The crab dribble king has finally been exposed for what he has been doing for years and thats travelling. I just want to see continuity in our young core of Dre,DMAC,
Critt and Nick Young because thats our future of this franchise. Make your freethrows and control the pressure in the fourth with facilitators of CB3 and Mike James and the Captain!

i have to say if you want to keep Howard out of the lane your going to have to call on D.Song last time we played them he did the job on keeping him away from the hoop and making him take shots he did not want…

The NBA… Where the Crab Dribble Happens. ROFL JEFF!
I hope to see a lot of Darius and … yep… Etan tomorrow night. The semi beef brothers. Ok that’s big stretch, but, they both know how to keep Howard at least a little out of the lane. If the rest of the team hustles on defense like we are playing Cleveland again…. who knows?
I can’t wait for Gilbert to come back either. I’d at least like to hear some news from the medical staff as to his progress as he is slated to “come back” this month. Caron’s comments were encouraging, but, you don’t know how much of that stuff (said by a veteran) is for the Press. If Nick had said it I’d be saying … Yippee!
Let us not forget our anchor. How about Mr. Haywood? I know the cast is off. How is physical therapy going? How is he feeling? Any timetable as Mr. Haywood is who we truely miss this year. If both he and Gil come back this season…..healthy… we probably won’t make the playoffs, but, we sure could still make some Noise.

“I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn’t know they were going to call it,” Butler said about what happened Sunday. “That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move, good officiating, and they called the call. And I was like, ‘Oh, man, there is a God.’ “
