6:33 AM. Dave Johnson wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving….and we have a lot to be thankful for…life’s pretty good when you are doing well enough to enjoy NBA basketball on radio or TV or in person and of course BLOG about it… and thanks again for all the keen interest of the BLOGGERS….again this is just a place to share opinions and have fun….and even when it is a negative opinion as long as you state your case with out getting personal it is great…But we have POSITVE stuff to talk about… the win over the Warriors was shall we say much needed….now the hard part….do it again.. and even harder with Orlando in town…25 points 12 rebounds 5 assists and 5 blocks from Andray Blatche would be nice..butEd Tapscott is just looking for consistent effort from him and told him so…..JaVale McGee will get his second look at Dwight Howard..Tapscott says McGee will have to find a way to use his speed and quickness against Howard’s strength….I first interviewed Ed Tapscott in 1982 when I was still a student at Towson State University…I was impressed with him then and I think it should be noted that he has done an exceptional job of managing a difficult week. I just got back from New York, but I recorded the GSW game and just watched it. They really did look like a different team. It was friggin awesome. Anyway let’s see how successful Ed is, I’m liking him so far. Blatche was just amazing. I like that Ed limited the rotation. It was a surprise to Etan on the bench but I wasn’t disappointed in that that. McGee came out of a cannon and I felt that set the tone for the rest of the game.
I hope Blatche keeps up the energy and I hope the Wiz keep passing the ball. Let’s all give thanks to the Wizards.

Hey everyone, I’m live from Verizon Center after polishing off a fantastic meal about three hours ago.
Anyway right now out on the court Gilbert, Pech and Nick are warming up. It’s great to see Gil moving around. I know its probably another month before his return but its nonetheless good to see.

We have no offense outside of Jamison and Butler to start the game. Nobody else can score. McGee sometimes…but now that he AND Blatche have two fouls thats gonna slow us down more. Get Nick in there.
We arnt going to win alot of games with that kind of lineup.

Well… this is going to be a tough, tough game.
You just have to admire Dwight Howard. What more can you say????? He is ridiculous and unstoppable!
13 points is isn’t that much.
I am not sure what we are doing wrong specifically, but the 3′s are still a problem. What is the difference between this game and Golden State? Were they just missing them, or were we guarding them better? And what is the solution?

Barkley did make some points. No arenas, no Haywood, with mediocre role players (daniels, thomas etc.) Should not be blamed all on Eddie. I did not think it was all him either, except for the fact that he did make questionable subs at times, but still. I personally think some kind of trade has to be done to shake up the bench, outside of Young, Blatche, McGee.

I’m sorry, but Etan Thomas is not an NBA player….they should have never signed him to the deal that they did a few years back. Let’s face it, we’re in for years of losing, Arenas will never be the same and Jamison will just continue to decline, who by the way is the worst defender in the NBA for his size

losing by 20+ w/2 all stars is sickening….signing Dixon and Dee Brown are the 2 worst signings in free agency this year. They don’t belong in the NBA, period. Antonio Daniels wouldn’t play more than 10 mins on 90% of the teams.
D Wade is winning with rookies and nobodies, yet we lose with 2 all stars, this entire organization is nothing but a complete joke.

Wow, this is embarassing to even watch……..give me one aspect of the game where this team is good. They can’t rebound, can’t defend the 3, no offensive rythym, can’t shoot the 3. Every team has injuries, but they manage to stay positive. Look at the Rockets, they consistantly lose Ming and McGrady to injuries, but manage to win games, and keep games close.
Honestly, I would put the Wizards organization in the same category as the Lions, and I’m not joking.

Ok OK OK … I knew if game starting turning this was going to happen.
Soon as we are down some points people are ready to play GM-make trades, etc… Look at this point, when we won last game-none of this was said.
We have to support our team -I dont agree with some of the BS going on with the fouls and some of our players productivity but this could be an effective unit-We have to believe.
Win or not tonight, We have to learn to play as a group. Hopefully we review this and learn.

You all have to face reality…..I am the only one to speak the truth, the Capitals is the only thing this town has going for them. If you think for one second, this team will make a miraculous comeback, you are in for a long season. We are getting lit up by JJ Reddick, there is no hope, period.
People, please don’t talk about the Golden State game. That game meant nothing, it was an emotional win and was against a bad team from the west coast, who just made a trade. If we can’t come out here against a playoff team at home and make it competitive we will not win more than 25 games this season. We took about 5 steps backwards when we gave all our money to 2 players who don’t deserve it. We had the opportunity in the offseason to start over, and we didn’t do it. Now we’re doomed for years

I have been saying even in the offseason, this team needs a change with its role players. Dee Brown and Juan Dixon are not going to cut it. There has to be a taker out there for 2010 contracts, umm we have two in Daniels and Thomas.

Come on, I am not employed by the Wizards so I shouldn’t have to hold back the truth. This is not “one game”, this is the same game we’ve seen 11 times this year. The GS game was not a true reflection of how bad this team is, this game is. You can blame foul trouble and the refs all you want, but this is what we’ll be seeing the entire year. If anyone truly thinks they will see a healthy Gilbert this year, they are sadly mistaken. Even if he does comeback, it will be the same as last year. This team will be cursed by him for years. But hey, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Maryland Terps is our true basketball team. This organization has been worthless for years. One playoff win in almost 30 years is an absolute joke considering more teams make the playoffs than those that don’t each year. At least they play with some passion.
I really feel bad for Caron Butler, a guy who gives it his all each night. Jamison plays hard too, but is a terrible defender. Don’t even get me started on our drafting, look back at the last 10 years, what do we have to show for it. McGee might end being a good pick, but that is about it.

Trust me, there is not just “1″ big win over the last 6 years. Every program has ups and downs, but I wouldn’t consider the sweet 16 early stages, or winning the ACC Championship for only the 2nd time in school history ending Duke’s 6 year run a small feat. I would not mind take a season of tanking. Hey look at the Celtics. They decided to tank with their star player Pierce, thought he was getting traded, they were aiming for Oden with the number 1 pick (fans had Oden jersey’s custom made, lol), the lottery came they get the 5th pick, trade for Ray Allen, then make the major trade for Kevin Garnett.
Good can come out of Bad.
Hey if we get the number 1 pick, Blake Griffin all the way.
But if we can somehow tread water until Arenas gets back, we still have a shot at a low seed in the playoffs.

Maryland was 19-15 last year, did not make the NCAA tournament, i dont even know if they made the NIT, but if they did they didnt win it.
Tell Gary to get some recruits in there that can play ball, or they wont be a contender anytime soon.
But, Dave Neal went to my High School. So that is something i like about them.

I watched the game and listened to the post-game radio broadcast. Tonight we got within 4 points of Orlando twice. Both times they went on extended runs. Both time coach had inserted AD and ET. ET played his best game of the season and we were still negative when he was in the game. AD did his usual tempo slow-down while spending a lot of time conferring with coach T to let him know what everyone else was doing wrong while he was in the game.
Granted, playing Golden State is not the same as playing Orlando, but we had NO life tonight. It’s interesting that one difference was that AD & ET did not play against Golden State, but they both had more than a few minutes against Orlando.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…neither of them should get 1 minute of playing time. We will not be a good team with them in the lineup. Go with the younger players and let them learn.
I heard someone call in to Glen’s radio show ranting about AB. AB has a great game attitude; he’s energetic and he plays hard. He also commits the worst ticky-tack fouls by reaching in on the offensive player. Some of the calls against him tonight were awful and forced him to the bench. He’s still a young guy with a ton of talent. He’ll be fine. However, he, and the rest of the Wiz inside players have to stop trying to be finese players. They have to get a body on people on defense and go hard to the basket on offense.
Orlando spread the floor great. They got easy open shots as the Wiz collapsed against players who got around our front-line defenders. The Wiz are at their best when they double-team the ball on the outside and create confusion that leads to turnovers and fast breaks. Go for the double-team; create some confusion. Our straight-up man-to-man defense is horrible and I cringe when I see us in a zone defense.

The foul trouble right from the beginning really hurt the team. We got seriously behind the 8 ball and there wasn’t a way to come back.
I wasn’t able to watch the 4th quarter — somehow my dvr stopped about a minute or so in — but I can’t fault most guys’ effort or play.
We have some new guys on the blog, which is a nice thing. One of them thinks it’s good if we are winning and bad if we are losing. That seems to be the extent of his basketball knowledge.

That’s a tough game to win everyone… On paper the Magic have too many shooters so when we collapse (because we always collapse let alone against a team with an all star big) they knock down shots. With our DL-ish lineup we never had a chance in this one… All good… There are gonna be some ups & a lot of downs this season. Everyone knows what it is.
Breath in a bag for a minute, calm down & keep your expectations realistic.
I personally just wanna see the guys compete, play hard, continue to develop & execute. Especially the kids.
