A New Week

Hey everyone, we are just a few weeks into the NBA season and the Wizards have dug themselves a little whole but they have been in tough spots before and they have responded well. A busy week of games after a few very interesting weeks schedule wise.

A quick stat, currently the Wizards have only played 7 games while four other teams have played 11 games and only the Lakers have played 8 games. Its been hard for the Wizards to get into a flow but the schedule starts to straighten out this week and hopefully that will help the Wiz.

On tap this week the Wiz host Miami on Tuesday (Click for tickets), they will travel to Atlanta on Wednesday before returning home for another back-to-back when they host the Rockets on Friday (click for tickets) and finish the week at New York vs. the Knicks on Saturday.

The game on Friday vs. the Rockets will be Collect-a-Can-from-a-Fan so if you bring in a can of food you will receive a ticket voucher for a future Wizards game.

I will be heading down to practice shortly and I will report whatever I see. Also while the Wizards will have a four day rest heading into tomorrow’s game, the Heat did play last night and fell to the Raptors 107-96.

just got back from practice/an Etan Thomas Reading Time-Out.

Didn’t see much of practice. Just basically individual work, JaVale McGee and Pech were working on their low post moves with volunteer coach Tony Massenburg.

Dee Brown, Dominic McGuire, DeShawn Stevenson, Juan Dixon and Caron Butler were working on their mid range around the world shooting with Dave Hopla

Nick Young was working on coming off of screens and shooting or taking one dribble and shooting with Wes Unseld Jr.

Tawn, Etan, Darius and Dray were working on free throws.

Practice sounds like fun. I saw the Heat fell to Toronto. I didn’t get much satisfaction out of it, I can’t say I was angry at the Heat. It would be nice to split with them. Let’s see if we can stay with it. Defensive awareness! Let’s go Wiz.

You can hear a pin drop on here lately. I guess everyone is depressed.

Things’ll pick up again — not to worry. It’s just a bit hard to know what to say right now.

Activity always picks up around games, but I suppose people are depressed as well. If Gilbert’s blog has any truth in it I think Gil will be back in December like he said. He sounds like he’s doing really well.

I found this as encouragement for the residents in my apartment complex. I’ll share it here hoping its supportive for the Wiz and fans, too.

“When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out—

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”

Very nice slwiz. It _is_ encouraging.

(can we get some rich text here, I want to italicize)

Eddie was talking after practice about how few games we have played and how it is hard to get a rhythm with the games spaced out like they have been. I think there is a lot of truth to that. I didn’t realize that every other team in the East has played at least 2 more games than we have and some teams have played 4 more!

Sounds a little lame to me.

I went to see George Mason v. Brown tonight. Boy, the college boys really hustle in comparison to most of the pro teams.

Great time of year!! The air outside is getting crisp. So many different sports to watch.

The basketball season is young and we have some extra games that we can use to our advantage. This is the NBA. Come with your A-Game and we can beat anyone! Go Wiz!!

The Miami Herald is reporting Dwayne Wade sprained his ankle in the 3rd quarter against Toronto. He said he hopes it doesn’t keep him out Tuesday’s game against us.
