Bulls and Heat Are the Big Winners

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Alright, so there is plenty of talk in the other thread but we will switch this over to a new one now that it’s official on the draft order.

Personally if I were the Bulls id take Beasley. Between Larry, Hinrich, and Gordon I don’t see a reason to add another point guard, and while I think Rose is PHENOMENAL!!!! I just don’t see how he fits with that team unless they let Gordon go. But you would still have lots of money locked into Hinrich and Hughes (Hinrich is signed at over 9 mill a year through 2012).

With all that guard play and Deng at the 3 spot, you can throw beasley right into the four and play Noah or Thomas at the five. The biggest issue for chicago has been their lack of an inside scorer and they can shore that up with Beasley.

I also think this team with either Beasley or Rose would fit perfectly into Mike D’Antoni’s system which makes me very happy that he signed with New York instead.

As for Miami I don’t think they can go wrong with either guy. Rose and Wade would make a dynamic guard combo and Wade and Beasley on the pick-and-roll would also be very tough to stop.

The good news is young players rarely win in this league instantly and Miami still has a long way to go. While they will have Marion and Wade with one of the two young guys, that team is very thin, returning only Mark Blount, Udonis Haslem, Marcus Banks, Daquan Cook and Smush Parker.

NBA Draft Lottery

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Ok so the NBA draft lottery will take place at 7:30 tonight in Secaucus, NJ. All the teams that did not make the playoffs will have their future decided for them by the bounce of a ping pong ball. Anyway, here is the number of balls each team has. Now my question to you is which two teams do you not want to see get the 1st and 2nd pick and what two teams you would like to see get the top two selections (Rose and Beasley). Personally I would like to see Durant and Rose, I think that would be a great combination, and I would like to see memphis thrown a bone because Memphis always seems to get the short end of the stick when it comes to the lottery.

1. Miami Heat (250)
2. Seattle Supersonics (199)
3. Minnesota Timberwolves (138)
4. Memphis Grizzlies (137)
5. New York Knicks (76)
6. LA Clippers (75)
7. Milwaukee Bucks (43)
8. Charlotte Bobcats (28)
9. Chicago Bulls (17)
10. New Jersey Nets (11)
11. Indiana Pacers (8)
12. Sacramento Kings (7)
13. Portland Trail Blazers (6)
14. Golden State Warriors (5)

Mid-Level Free Agent

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Over the past few weeks lots of people have talked about their desire to either re-sign either Antawn or Gil or go after big free agents like Josh Smith, Elton Brand or Jose Calderon.

While everyone talks about big names, their is a chance the Wizards could go after someone with either leftover money or their mid-level exemption. What player or players would you like to see the Wizards pursue in the off-season that would fit into that type of category and how would those players help the Wizards.

Click Here for a list of the upcoming free agents. Realize the Mid-Level will be around 5.5-6.0 million dollars this year.

Rose vs. Beasley

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

On June 26th one of these two players is going to go with the #1 pick in the draft. Assume that for some crazy reason, the Wizards ended up with the 1st pick in the draft. Which of these two players would you like to draft? Now for those of you who want to fully play this speculation game, what would you do in free agency after drafting that player.

So let’s say you took Beasley, would you look to re-sign Arenas and Jamison or just one, or neither and look for something else? And obviously why would you look to do that and how would that help you…

Nick Young Just Misses out on Making All-Rookie 2nd-Team

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

The all-rookie teams came out yesterday and Nick Young just missed out making the 2nd team, coming 8 points shy of Houston’s Carl Landry.

Young did receive two first team votes, the most for any player that did not make either 1st or 2nd all-rookie team.

Here is who did make it. I wrote the age of three players instead of their draft slot to show that they really aren’t rookies. Al Horford was the only unanimous selection to the first team with Kevin Durant being voted to the first team by all but one coach.

1st team
Al Horford (pick #4)
Kevin Durant (pick #2)
Luis Scola (28 years old)
Al Thornton (pick #13)
Jeff Green (pick #5)

2nd Team
Jamario Moon (28 years old)
Juan Carlos Navarro (28 years old)
Thaddeus Young (#12)
Rodney Stuckey (#15)
Carl Landry (#31)
