Monday Practice
Hey everyone. I was down at practice today and shot some video of the guys talking to the media. The team all seemed upbeat and confident that they could turn things around. Anyway their are four videos, three of guys talking to the media and just a quick look-in on Pech shooting with Caron. The three players that talked were Gil, Roger and Brendan.

hey, since 2(?) days i always get an antivir-warning when i go on the blog, something like “HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen”…dunno if anyone else got the problem, kinda annoying :/
Yeah, i bet they’re kinda upset, we really had the chance to win that one…but…we didn’t. But it’s not over yet! Let’s show them what we can do, pressure’s on us!
Go wiz, c’mon!

April 28th, 2008 at 4:48 PM
Just before watching the video: I just read DeShawn was fined (as well as Paul Pierce) ” NEW YORK, April 28, 2008 – Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce and Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson have each been fined $25,000 for making menacing gestures during games played this weekend, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations.
The incident involving Pierce occurred in the fourth period of the Celtics’ 102-93 Game 3 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on April 26. The incident involving Stevenson occurred in the first period of the Wizards’ 100-97 Game 4 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 27. “

yo check out what i found

its a shot from a rapper back at Jay-Z for diss D steve in DC
April 28th, 2008 at 8:50 PM
Well, I hope that Stevenson don’t get too happy about this because this rapper (I didn’t even click it - no offense to you Wiz4Life; this all to me is just sooo stupid) is just trying to promote himself. I don’t care if he knows this rapper or not, but it’s all for himself. He’ll be known as that rapper who “dissed Jay-Z” as opposed to the rapper who “defended DS.” Everybody (and they mama) about to get into this stupidness now. Sometimes the problem with people who got some ching($) is that they think that everybody is their friend and lovin them, but in reality, it’s all about themselves - media and/or moola (money)…Those the one’s breakin you off and down…
April 28th, 2008 at 9:05 PM
Well said, Bridge.
Right now, *basketball* and nothing else is on the table. Over 4 games, there are about 3 points between these teams. But their team has been able to close out games (1 and 4), and we haven’t. That’s just a fact.
It’s time to go there, play hard and smart, and if we get the chance it’s time to show that we can end a game strong against these guys.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
o no disrespect to me i was just putting it out there i found it on a Cavs forum there were talking about it and it was a DC guy and no dought its a self promo… even tho i cant help but fall in that trap from time to time i do know that DS hangs out with 50Cents people so this guy would have not been in the fray had DS tryed to fire back thats not the case

Hawks Won!
INSPIRATION TO MY WIZ THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. People thought that the Hawks would get swept, but they’re proving themselves…and all these people wrong…
GO WIZARDS!!!!
April 28th, 2008 at 10:33 PM
I originally was fine with all the talk if we backed it up, but now its time to let the play do the talking.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:19 PM
wish you would have let that haywood video go longer so i could’ve heard brendan say:
“Awww,” Haywood said, in a whiny, high-pitched voice to mock James. “They are trying to hurt me.”
hate bron. love brendan

Dave-
Can you please ask Twan, Caron, or Eddie why we continue to let our D-list players like deshawn and Brenda bash the Cavs when we are getting toasted. To me, Gil, Caron, and Twan represent Wiz basketball and our best players, yet they are taking the fall for all these off-court antics that have gone way too far. They could be tolerated (and even funny) if we are winning but please shut up and win. I’d really like to know why 1.) Eddie is letting this go on, 2.) Why when Lebron picked up his 5th foul with 3.5 minutes left we did not go back after him (next play caron kicked it out to deshawn who shot a 20-footer and missed), and 3.) why we do not foul Ben Wallace when he has the ball (worst free throw shooter in nba history).

I like Haywood stepping up and calling LeTravel a crybaby. That’s what I was yelling at him all game and he kept taunting me. Some lady in front of me kept giving me dirty looks and then LeTravel walked over and kissed her at the end of the game so I guess that’s why he took the time to taunt me. I haven’t lost hope but I hope that Jordan comes back to his senses and plays Mason instead of one leg. I know Wizard announcers like G.Consour defend Gilbert by saying he’s a 2X allstar and 2nd team NBA. Michael Jordan won six championships and Bill Russell was a pretty good center, but they wouldn’t help us in this series right now.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:36 AM
Beeb - I couldn’t agree more. I’m ready for mason to be our guy next year. Deshawn needs to go. We’re the laughing stock of the NBA. 2 years in a row deshawn is all talk no action. Hopefully he can step it up tomorrow night but I’ve seen nothing to make me thing he can.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE -
April 29th, 2008 at 9:35 AM
I LIKE THE ATTITUDE BRIDGE. But honestly, it’s just one game at a time. With every win the pressure gets hotter on Cleveland. Now they just need to get the momentum going tomorrow.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:55 AM
I definitely liked what Haywood said and cracked up at it, but I also agree that we need to keep our mouths shut. I mean, I agree with Haywood 100%… and I think we all agree that LeBron is a crybaby… but there’s no denying that we look like fools because we have talked so much trash, and now we’re behind 3-1! It’s just embarrassing. At first I liked the fact that the guys were showing toughness. Our team has not been known for that, so it seemed good at first. But now… we ARE a the laughing stock of the NBA! So sad…

im with you bridge, these guys surprise me every time i feel like i want to get down on them. i feel like a beaten girl friend, i just keep coming back for more. to see MY BOYS get out boarded on sunday was sooo exhausting to me, i can only imagine what it’s like for these guys. im sure it was hard to keep ur head up. im prolly going to get bashed for these next comments, but here goes. Deshawn, i love ya, i rooted you on all 82, but you gotta roll brotha. either drop 30 in game 5 or ur mouth was too big for this team. Secondly, AJ, u are my man since UNC, but when are you gonna help out on D? I take great pride in watching you drop 20 and 10 game in game out, but to have a mental lapse that great @ home in the playoffs, its inexcusable. i have seen you rotate over 100 times and tip that pass away before it even get to delonte west. we all kno its not the first time either. ur a vet in this leauge and ur our captain, but the opposition slavates at the site of you on D. if ANY team in the NBA can do it, you guys can. please shock cleveland. GO STONG, PLAY SMART, PLAY HARD!!! we are ALL pulling for you here in DC. it was easy to root for the under dogs all season, now its hard to root for show boats(we’re looking right at ya Dsteve)
side note: the nba referee side show also makes it very hard to stay positive about the nba. i mean how does lebron not get hit with a 3rd foul in the second half after blatantly(sp) fouling darius from behind? incidently, thay play happened right before the flagarnt by deshawn(.. possibly intentional????) im watching the game and thinking to myself if joey crawford does his job on the other end and calls that foul then lbj is on the bench and the flagrant never happens. any thoughts?
April 29th, 2008 at 10:34 AM
I meant to say 3rd foul in the first half… sorry
April 29th, 2008 at 10:44 AM
The reason that I say that “anything is possible” is NOT to be some motivational speaker or oblivious optimist. I say this because it’s how I see life, and it’s proven everyday in life. To stay on topic, look at the adversities that Caron and Gil were (and still are) able to overcome. It’s not so much the team, but comments that make me sometimes say: “well, why the hell should I care then?” It’s just like being around a negative friend all day - who would want that??? How could we sit up here and fuss off Cavs fans for things that they say (as if we own this blog) but turn around and say worser things about our boys?? Just because I’m a fan don’t mean that I could disrespect a player, then get mad at a non-fan for doing the same thing I’m doing.
As humans, we don’t have to “give in” to nobody; in this situation, not LeBron (and HIS Cavs), their fans, or their refs. Well, I at least, won’t be. There’s no need to be someone else’s female dog, if you know what I mean….And I think that Twan is stepping up on D; just as this is “one game at a time,” the process of D takes one practice at a time.
GO WIZ!!!
April 29th, 2008 at 11:08 AM
i still feel like we got a punchers chance. GO WIZZZZZZZARDS!
beeb,
lbj was taunting me all game too, i think its just one more unprofessional thing he does. IM sure it didnt help i was holding up a huge sign with his moms mug on it. but i am willing to bet you were scarrrrrred as heck when he came over to kiss that lady. lol… i was thinking that all game, what if he gets pissed off enough to walk over here? lol

What were some of the things lebron was saying back to you? those posters were great. what did he say or do when he saw them?

April 29th, 2008 at 11:29 AM
I could not make out much of what he said. mostly it was just scowles after every comment. but you can tell by the eye contact they might have been directed towards you. before a second half free throw he was starring at me for like 30 seconds and im yelling…”hey lebron, im up here with ur momma!” “look who it is letravel, its my date to the game!”. he just kind of growled and shook his head. i have just never gotten a reaction out of a player on the court before other than damon jones in game 3. you can get a guy ur a fan of to give u a smile of some sort of reaction if he’s on fire and ur cheering him on, but i have tried over and over to get an opposing player to look at me when im yelling, screaming, trying to get into a guys head, get a reaction and they never do. i hate to say it, i think its just a testament to his unflappable focus and superior skills ’cause he just keeps on throwing daggers.
April 29th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
Phonebooth, your experience made me chuckle. LeTravel seems to look into the crowd an awful lot to see if people are looking at him. His pregame antics are apparently to make sure that he gets on espn. It might be that he’s just young. I do know that when I watched players like Bird,Jordan or Magic, their demeanor on the court was not always checking out the crowd, while even sitting on the bench. At that one point in the first half, though, James was so worked up that when he got taken out with about 5 minutes in the half, he was hyperventilating and had to stand at the end of the bench to get his breath. I’m also amazed that a Coach can actually run out on to the court without worry of a technical under the guise of breaking it up. There truly is a story behind the game on every play.
