Game Day Cavaliers Game 3
6:53 AM.. Dave Johnson checking in…..let’s hope the joint is jumping tonight…..I remember coming back from Chicago down two games to none in 2005 and worried about how the atmosphere would be……Wizards fans were simply terrific..it was a Staurday afternoon start–which also had me worried–but the atmosphere was electric…tonight it is not about how hard the Wizards foul LeBron..it is about how well the Wizards play on offense….I must admit I still can’t get over the Wizards being portrayed in some circles as a bunch of rogue rough guys..but again the bottom line….this team is capable of so much more and tonight is the night to show it….BLOGCAST starts at 8PM..hope you can jump on….we BLOG courtside while we do the radio….
UPDATE: Just got back from shootaround, the one noteworthy thing, CARON SHAVED “TOUGH JUICE” INTO THE BACK OF HIS HEAD.

no opposing to your comments i would give Gil minutes….i would start off with a few see if he is playing like he first did…Pass the ball….if nothing is there (after he’s looked for 3 options)..he shoots it…right now like someone said in the last thread…he is taking all of it to himself..i think that is the problem too…
One of my friends had a really intereting comment…he said that our team is not going to like for another star (that being GA) think he is all that in the playoffs..think that the one who can do it all…when Caron and Antwan carried us on there backs all the way here…he thinks that once GA comes on to the court..they simply give up…dumb passes..no defense..when Gil has the ball no one gets open..etc..

ill be there, section 116 row L, and BELIEVE me any lebron fans in the stands by me will KNOW me! Im wondering, should i wear a white tee over my arenas jerzy or will the jerzy be sufficeintly white? lol …. i was at that first bulls series win in 05, the the crowd was college like the whole time, and when the lights went out after the final buzzer went off and the confetti dropped it was demoraizing for the bulls. we gotta hit buckets TONIGHT, we can outscore lebron by himself, (maybe Z) no one eles on their squad has the potential to score 25 along with lebron and that is what it would take for them to outscore us if we play right. enough said. forget all this physicallity..all this hitting is taking a toll on our players once they get to the other end of the floor..we need on or two people to stay on LeBron they whole game..(D-Steezy..and..Dom)..their our best defenders..then play man the rest of the way..we are making his stat sheet look good when we double b/c he always seems to find someone under the basket for a layup..C’MON guys we got this..we’ve beating this team before..what was our gameplan then..do something similar..damn its still 8:30am…

im with that, i would love to come in very early and tell gil to find that love for the game he had in 05 and 06, just have fun, smile and play. i met him, him, his dad, and his brother at the dealership i work at. great people, he brought me back an autographed jerzy and let me check out his mybach(sp). i wish nothing but the best for good people like that.

^ That’s awesome about meeting Gil! My girlfriend met him a couple months ago in Target haha.
Anyway – Tonight is big. The Cavs are confident right now – but it will only take a win tonight to make them doubt themselves. A win tonight will give us a ton of confidence going into game 4.
I can’t imagine our shooting will be what it was the last game. We should feel comfortable at home tonight and I expect a win.
Can’t wait til game time!

dude, he was the nicest guy. i went to U of A, so we talked about everthing from the money tucsan campus to the stack of cd’s he had in his car. i have met a lot of redskins and they can be pretty cool too, but no player i have ever met was as down to earth as gil. it was right after etan was diagnossed and he was distrought! but not for the season, but more for etan than anything. just good people

the wizards look good tonight they back and the home crowd will support and get the job done. dont keep them in the game they led the league in the 4th comebacks so the wizards should work on getting the game to the point where is it out of reach early in the 4th or late in the 3rd.

I want to see passion in the faces of the Wizards tonight, especially the Big Three. I expect AJ, Gil, and CB3 to set an example from the outset. They are our leaders (AJ and CB3 especially) and they need to carry us. We need to use controlled aggression and avoid letting our emotions dictate our play. Too many times in the past couple of games we have been out of control, jittery, and very tense. We just need to play our game. When we play OUR game, it is a thing of beauty to watch.

but your point is good because you can see it in there game plan if you watch LBJ sits late in the 3rd early 4th just so they can make that push… so the key to putting the lead to were they cant reach it is to take it to them when he is resting.. when we get to that last push we need to match the shots wile taking time off the clock…. needless to say its alot easier said than done

My seats are endline near the Cavs bench so LeTravel is going to hear about how he’s a whiner, all night. The spin and counter spin is fun to watch. Jordan talks about how LeTravel gets the double standard. LeTravel talks in the Cleveland papers about how he thought Haywood would be suspended. It’s amazing that everytime he gets knocked to the floor, he gets up holding his mouth. Yea, I’m a witness to what a big baby he is.

We haven’t played very well on the road since the trade, so this is going to be a big test for us.

Big Erie one of the big issues is that all cavs fans yes all prior to you, have written in in a trolling, mocking, and instigating way. I believe (although this board hasn’t had to deal with an oposing teams blogger yet) that if you want to discuss the series on a professional level then everyone will be willing to discuss with you.
However, the cavs fans that have entered our board have not done it in a classy manner and therefore have been blocked.
I as well as most of the other bloggers will look forward to discussing the game with all true basketball fans.

Arenas should dye his hair white; ala Dennis Rodman style. Heck, even make the coaching staff do it if the Wiz win the series. Mike Woodson of ATL shaved his head for the playoffs (but they aren’t doing too good against the C’s).

Some random thoughts on the Wiz playoff scene:
1) I get the impression that if the Wiz somehow win tonight, they will have “solved” the Cavs and get the monkey off their backs. Then they will be okay (barring inury) for the rest of the series.
2) Maybe the best strategy against James is to let him go for 50 and let the other Cavs stand around and watch.
3) If Marv Albert is doing the game, would someone let him know that Andray’s last name is pronounced like “hatch”. The way the Marvelous one pronounces Andray’s surname (”blotch”) you would think he is playing for the Munich club soccer team rather than an American basketball team.
4) Good thing for the league that they decided to forego Haywood’s flagrant-2 foul suspension. If he was to be suspended for tonight’s game there would be a real taint on this series.
5) Related to #4….don’t you bet the TV execs are hoping to see LeBron take on the Celts?
6) Daniels needs to penetrate in the lane a bit more tonight.
7) You got to admit, this guy James is an athletic freak of nature. His playmaking is extraordinary. That is what so far has been killing us. He has made his teammates better than they usually are.
I think the Wiz will get out of their shooting slump tonight, partcularly Arenas and Stevenson. With Arenas back, Mason doesn’t get enough minutes to get comfortable out there. Maybe he can hit some threes tonight too.
9) Too much tipping rebounds instead of outright grabbing them. I don’t know what changed, but when a guy just went for a tip instead of grabbing the bound he got whistled for a loose ball foul. Now most of the rebounds are tip drills.
Tonight, the Wiz bring home the bacon 105-95! Good luck to them! And to us for cheering them on – loyal fans come what may!

Really nice first half. Never easy to play on the road during the playoffs and that’s what the travaliers are learning right now!!! It was a great team effort. Wonderful to see.
And here’s a stat for everybody: Cavs 2-16 from 3 point range. And I’m pretty sure at least one of those was at the end in garbage time.
We need to ride this high that our players feel right now into game 4.

Great to see DeShawn have a terrific game, especially in the last quarter it seems.
Need the same attitude and results on Sunday. Then win one in Cleveland, and bring it back here to close out. We don’t want to play a 7th game in Cleveland if at all possible.

Great game. Stevenson was solid. Not quite sure he backed up his trash talk yet but it’s nice to actually stay in the series, especially with a 36 point win. I am glad Haywood wasn’t suspended. I think Mike Brown is a punk. He gets out there and complains after every game about fouls and his team is dishing out as many fouls as anyone else. Haywood should have never been ejected from game 2. I mean unless they got rid of Varajo for doing the exact same thing earlier. It actually looked like Brendan tried to reach out and catch James from falling for a second. If he wouldn’t have started acting a little bit and went horizontal it wouldn’t have been an issue. I used to not like LeBron because every time I saw him on the court he was crying for a call. I thought he had matured until I saw how much flopping he did in game 2. One play they actually called the foul on LeBron because he just jumped in the way and flopped. I understand that it’s good strategy to occassionally sell a foul. A play that was already going to be a foul might may or may not get called if you play tough guy. Sometimes a quick fall backward on your behind is appropriate, not flying through the air Superman style. I thought Stevenson was supposed to be Soulja Boy. BTW, isn’t the same LeBron James that was bragging a week ago about being 6′8″ and 250 lbs. solid. I didn’t expect for him to cry about many calls, he’s supposed to be diesel.

i like his energy actually if he play like this all year he will look like someone who can get a chance to say the lebron is ……….I feel like he made some shots that led to avictory but he does not dunk better than lebron. NO WAY…. CB3 might get somewhere near lebron’s dunks.
any way DS knows that the wiz are still down 1-2 so what the celebration for. i think the fans can celebrate not yet for the team. I am just gonna enjoy the competition.

Honestly I’m not gonna lie I feel exhausted… Worked 3 back to back 10 hour shifts at my day job this week and then I had my 6pm to 6 am shift @ the fire dep last nite and I jus got home… Wrk from 9 to 12 and then class from 1 to 5 and then the game tonite.. I will be there and I’m sure that once I feel the buzz in the arena I will be more than fine but leading up to tip off is gonna rough lol. We must be loud and wear white!!!! I got some signs me and a buddy are taking tonite! We’ll show them tonite what home court advantage is and that we are still in this! And ps yall know there will unfortunatly be a lot of lebron fans in the stands tonite… And while we can’t turn around and throw them to the ground “a-la haywood” we can let our disgust wuth them be known and be much much louder than them! I hope to see soljia boy courtside today and for deshawn to go a lil tear tonite! I have a feeling that we will hit plenty of shots tonite! Let’s hope we get a couple of calls our way tonite!
