Game Day Orlando
5:17 AM….Dave Johnson checking in from Florida….it is time to get into playoff blogging form…I have no idea what that means… just thought I would say it..anyway in some ways it is hard to believe it is the regular season finale…we have been blogging with the radio broadcasts since the very first pre-season game…actually we have been blogging since the very first practice…..I wanto to thank everyone who has participated and I have enjoyed watching the BLOG grow….again the whole idea is to take our loyal fans where ever we are…Glenn and I are blogging courtside during the game…can’t get much loser that that… and in the pre-season we were BLOGGING from inside practices as they were happening…..looking forward to tonight…see who plays and how much…. and then it is bring on Cleveland….I think DeShawn Stevenson will start despite the sore back but likely will not play a lot–just my hunch—-would not be surprised to see Caron Butler and Glbert Arenas get a little time……BLOGCAST starts at 7…hope you can join us.
SportzWiz checking in. First off let me say that Dave and Glenn have done a fantastic job this season blogging throughout the games. Their insite is phenomenal and it’s amazing that they are able to both annoucne and blog at the same time, they truly do an unbelievable job. 2nd, I hate to hi-jack this thread but I just wanted to let everyone know that the Wizards are going to have a new interactive locker room coming soon and they just threw up the preview here. You can also enter to win a free Gil, Caron or Antawn jersey by entering the sweepstakes on the right.
Finally we are going to do our best to give you all the inside scoop with the playoffs, and there will be a centralized home on washingtonwizards.com for all the information which should be coming up either tomorrow or Friday. And well one more thing the NBA will announce the playoff schedule tonight at about 2am. As soon as we get it we will put it up.
6:20 PM…Dave Johnson checking in courtside…Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison, and Gilbert Arenas will not play..starters Daniels, Stevenson, Haywood, Songaila, and McGuire
6:30Pm Spalding Never Flat Winner….congrats to George Sellmon of Bowie…..he wins the Spalding Never Flat Pack that inlcudes a basketball, football, soccer and volleyball…

Yeah, and we have to get our comments in post-season, playoff form too. Exercise those fingertip pads, guys and gals!
I imagine we’ll see a lot of bench action tonight from both teams. I hope there is a little more discipline on the court; the 2d half against the Pacers was too much like a schoolyard game.

you know i really dont care about this game that much becuz it will be nice if we just rested our starters..well our main players..let deshawn start so he dont mess up his starting streak…but other than that we can just let our bench play the whole game…its like another glory road if u think about it…LOL
just kiddin but yea just let our players get some rest..esp. caron and gil and jamison..iight yall talk to u guys later.

Barkley is well quoted to be a Lebron puppeteer and that will not change. Reggie Miller made the most reasoned suggestion and that is it’s very difficult to beat a team in the playoffs three years in a row! But maybe Barkelys right because MJ waxed that Big Behind of His 3,4,5 times in a row in the playoffs! So lets talk trash because its fun to hear and even more fun to see Lebron back is about to break into for the Huge Defeat in 5 games!

cleveland has lebron we have gil (okay lebron may get that one with gil being injury prone) they have broussard we have wilbon (one for us) they had brad daraughty we had MJ (one for us) they have cici sebastion we have….. (okay they got that one lol) they have brady quinn we have clinton portis (one for us) to top it off we have the president ( we’re in charge buddy!) go washington! with all this taking sides thing going on….. the wizards have to go into cleveland and win. now the rules change so much these days….. the 1st round is the best of 5 or best of 7????? well never mind i just saw aundra’s comment

Caron needs to get in a good 20 minutes tonight, to get back in the flow. Let Deshawn and Antawn play the first quarter and then just them down. Gilbert should play about 10 minutes off the bench (maybe 5 in the 1st half, 5 in the 2nd).

u know what i dont mean to get ghettoo, but i bought a pair of jordans in cleveland that was suspicious! lol the damn logo was showing the opposite direction! i got sum ghetto jrodans. i was simply hood winked! but hey they were only $50 they last me 2 months

the logo was doing a reverse layup rather than gliding like MJ. moral of the story dont buy shoes in cleveland! im sorry i was venting. well tonight both teams will rest their players but expect hedo to get sum payback he wants that award since he didnt make the all star. and for the first time deshawn came to orlando and didnt hang out last night…… i guess eddie put his foot down! aww well. i talk to dwight nearly every week when he gets his haircut… he thinks deshawn talked to much with lebron but he also doesn’t blame deshawn for doing what he did.

this is the first time i have ever seen the championship team totally forgotten about. nobody is talking about the spurs. it is unfortunate that the suns have to play the spurs but thats who they brought shaq in for. if the suns win. i predict the suns and lakers in western conference finals. with detroit and washington in the eastern conference finals.

If we win game 1 it’s a 6 game series and we only have to split, with 3 of them at Verizon Ctr. That would be WONDERFUL.
Give the starters 10-15 minutes TOGETHER to work on timing. Let the kids play the rest.

Interesting game tonight, just cuz I love to see a lot of Roger, Dominic and Nick!! Not that I don’t LOVE to watch our starters get out there and do their thing but honestly I love the summer league and you know the pacers game was pretty much like that so I hope tonight I can just chill in front of my computer watching a cool game. Cuz I already know I’m gonna be screaming like crazy and jumping all over my place during the playoffs so let’s enjoy that last regular season game.
Did you guys check Gil’s last blog? Not amazing but funny though. I hope we get to see soulja boy in DC as soon as next thursday ![]()
GO WIZARDSSSSSSSS
P.S: I still hope our starters get 10 minutes and Gil too.

i gotta say, aside from agent zero, the wizards are the most under-rated and least-talked about team in the NBA, hands down. no one really cares what butler and jamison have done with their leadership this season, not to mention the phenomenal job eddie jordan has done to keep the team afloat, starting out the season 0-5, having an 8-game losing streak heading into the all-star break, and who would have thought we would have a chance to finish 6 games above .500 given the injury circumstances we had this year, and if it had not been for the injuries, we very well could have wrapped up the 3rd, maybe even the 2nd seed in the eastern conference. just look at some of our big wins this year:
Without Arenas:
two wins over boston
6 game winning streak folowing 0-5 start
two wins over mavericks
season sweep of miami (ok i know they won like 2 games all year but they had beaten us 16 straight at one point)
3 of 4 against toronto
big win over detroit
come-from-behind win over clippers
Withour Arenas AND Butler:
two wins over hornets
all in all, this season can be one of those what-might-have-been seasons. what might have been if gilbert hadn’t had to miss 68 games with the knee injury? what might have been if caron didn’t miss the stretch before the all-star break which contributed to the 8-game losing streak? what might have been if we had held on to win games such as at home against the knicks after the all-star break; on the road in golden state where roger mason had a career-high 32 points; the game where agent zero came back with sessions hitting that jumper; the game in cleveland in february where stevenson failed to convert on the game-winning drive (and where the refs robbed antonio daniels of a last-second dunk to end the 2nd quarter). there’s so many variables of what might have been for the wizards.. my major hope for this offseason is that ernie grunfeld re-signs gilbert arenas, antawn jamison, and roger mason jr. we have come together in so many ways this season, i would hate to see everything go all for naught and have to rebuild AGAIN. i like what gilbert arenas said a couple weeks ago, that he would take a pay cut in order to keep the team intact. i think that is important over the long haul. you look at where jamison’s at in his career–this is his 10th season (or 11th, correct me if i am wrong on 10).. he’s at the peak of his career, and to have a teammate like gilbert who he has been with in golden state as well as here in DC, it speaks wonders for team leadership and the chemistry that has been created with the rest of the team. i look at the next two seasons as being key to see if washington can get to that elite status of being a conference finalist next year and even winning the championship (hell i think they can go all the way this year!) the way the team established toughness in gilbert’s absence, and the way he was able to ease his way back into the rotation has elevated this team to a whole different dimension compared to when he was out. and when you do the outlook for the 2008-2009 season, we will be 100% healthy, having gilbert back to normal, deshawn won’t be so banged up from this season, daniels will be back after offseason wrist surgery, caron will be fully healthy, heck, even etan thomas will be back next year after missing this season. so having written an entire article basically, let’s go finish out this season strong, get win no. 44, then start concentrating on cleveland for this weekend. REWRITING THE RULES!!!!

yeah, is was getting some sleep in advance for the playoff games yesterday, sorry ’bout not bloging ;>
Alright, it’s on. This is serious. Let’s show em our true face! I’m really looking forward to see us playing against boston, that will be some great games. Was there something before that? hm..i don’t know, can’t think of anything. Cavaliers you say? Cavaliers, cavaliers…oh yeah, but that’s no team dude, that’s just one traveling guy. One guy. We have 3 allstars, and a lot more good players..damn, that’s almost unfair! But well, if we have to…some daggers by arenas, dunks by tawn and caron, 3s by mason and deshawn, some hooks by haywood, hell, even some dunks by nick! Game over, Traveliers go HOME
Man sieht sich Samstag (see ya saturday),
