Game Day Pacers
5:33 AM…Dave Johnson checking in….It’s Cleveland again in the playoffs…but of significance it is at least the fifth seed…..We have talked about how hard this team has played through adversity and how several players continue to play through pain…. so it is nice to see that the Wizards did not slip…..it’s been so tight these last few weeks…. and this team came through with some big wins….It was exciting to see Gilbert Arenas take over Saturday’s game with the Sixers… that had to feel so good for him.. and the Wizards really needed him to do that with Caron Butler out with a bruised right knee… and also with the pace the Sixers played at……Butler said yesterday he had an MRI on his knee that was negative..so that is good….still not sure if he will play tonight….we’ll update as we here it…… but again getting back to the determination of this team…I think of DeShawn Stevenson—he has a bruised tail bone but yet there he was on Saturday taking a charge at a critical point of the game…… the way the Wizards battle and the way they can now play with Arenas back gives us all a lot to be excited about…….BLOGCAST starts at 7
12:43pm Sportzwiz checking in. Quick injury update. Caron is going to be a game-time decision tonight, however I wouldn’t be shocked to see him sit tonight because the team definitely wants him back at 100% for playoffs. Also, you could see other players sit for precautionary reasons either tonight or Wednesday now that the Wizards are locked in at least the five spot. One of those players could be Gilbert Arenas, we will let you know more around game time but that is the latest.

Anyway we HAVE to win that game tonight, not only to get closer to the now so called Travaliers who are obviously gonna lose their last two games but to get into a good winning rythm right before the playoffs. Of course we have to be careful cuz a winning wizards team is a healthy wizards team so now that the fifth spot is secured (worst case scenario!) let’s not injur anyone!!!

I really want to go tonight. I don’t think I can, though. I went to the game Saturday night, though. What a GREAT GAME!!!! But I noticed it wasn’t sold out, and I was really surprised by that. I thought for sure it would be, because it was such an important game. And the fans are really quiet a lot of the time. But in the 4th quarter, they got really loud. I was getting annoyed by how quiet my section was.

Really…I was thinking about going, but I would REALLY like to see this game. I need a break anyway – I’m at good standing; if anything, I think that my professor been wanting to ask me to take a break. We get about two “free” days here anyway, so I’ll be cool. Wizafan4life, I don’t know about the last two games because he might be trying to give some guys some rest before the playoffs. But he has stated that at this point he’s going with his rotation of 8 or 9 guys and you probably wont see that much out of dom, nick and pech unless a specific situation calls for it.

Dominic has played some, but the other two rookies haven’t. That’s as it should be. Pecherov and Nick have not been much help so far. I don’t want to see them again until the summer league to tell the truth.

The rookies decision is pretty hard. I’d like to see a lil bit of em, to be honest I’d like to see a lil of Nick and a lil more of Dom. I’m alright with Pech “resting” until the summer league cuz I truely don’t think he could bring anything. But some playoff experience for Dom and Nick could, I said could be good.

I wouldn’t mind seeing caron and jamison rest tonite but I want 2 c our guys go at it on wed @ orlando! We have a legit chance for home court and if we lose tonite then I wouldn’t mind resting the big 3 on wed. But I thought we were tryng to get down that chemistry? I would rather the big 3 play and rest ad and haywood. And maybe deshawn but get him @ least 5 min in both games

would love to see a “playoff” foul as long as its WITHIN the game. no need to start a bench clearer, but last year we didnt do it, the nets couldent do it, and detroit just let him walk his way to the basket. i think haywood is the perfect man for the job. just big enough to open “king travels” eyes and just smart enough to not get suspended. damon jones needs a message sent to him as well. just remeber they got big ben who can do a lil damage too. i really just hope Dsteve backs up his talk. like they say, its all talk untill you make it happen. for the home playoff games we all need black shirts the say “witness…. this is what a travel looks like!”

You know what I think about when I hear hard playoff fouls? I remember last year when that damn old giant (Ilgauskas) commited one of the dirtiest foul ever on AD and was not even given a tech! You know what we owe them that one and an extra one for making us waste our time playing them!!

Phonebooth the playoff schedules will be posted on washingtonwizards.com as soon as they are announced, should be between 1 and 2 am on Thursday. First games for the playoffs are that Saturday, however if the Wiz were to get home court they probably wouldnt play until sunday because the Caps play on Saturday at home in game 5. For a road game your guess is as good as mine.
Natsdude, it’s completely random so I dont think any level changes anything.

Honestly I hope we play Gil a little tonight. We could win without Caron but not sure about without Gilbert… Indiana is gonna play as well and hard as they can as they have to win in order to basically make the playoffs (we all know that ain’t happening btw) so watch out. This is the last regular season home game and I don’t wanna lose!!!!
Now as for the shirt, we’re a classy organisation guys so let’s rethink the middle finger . I had something in mind very official about the whole wizards organisation officialy apologizing for last year’s finals as if we stopped the cavs earlier nobody would have had not to watch the most boring finals ever, I’ll think about it a lil more later.

Indiana will come full blast because they want a piece of the playoff pie. I would suggest 25 minutes for our special Agent Zero delivery and some play time for everyone on the role player bench. So we
could see everyone play except Etan and that would be something special. This is a must win game so take it very serious because Indiana wiil. The keys to the game is stop Dunleavy and then play smart error free team ball and everything else will take care of itself! Good Luck! Go Wizards!!!

All right Wiz! Great job pulling things out against Philly.
We still have a shot at the 4 spot so we want to give it a go. Caron, because his knee is so tender needs to sit out. Gil needs get more work in. So he needs to play. He still only looks about 75%; but that is understandable. Jamison needs to be limited to 30 mins. Let’s get McGuire 20 solid mins tonight on Granger. That would be a good challenge for him.
Congrats on the Wiz improving on their record from last year. They are a noticeably better team this year. They have all the pieces needed for a strong playoff run – 3 pt shooting, shot blocking, inside scoring, and scoring off the bench. There is a lot to be confident about in the playoffs – as long as the Wiz can stay healthy. Given how snakebit this team is, that is a big if.

Its good to Rest Butler. We need him at full speed for playoffs. He was really slowed down in that second half of the pistons game. Gilbert resting I guess makes sense. They don’t want him to do the same thing he did after the first knee surgery. Man Stevenson is tough. Never misses a game.

Can someone please comfort me and tell me that Eddie will at least decide to play Gil and Caron in the final game of the regular season? If they are cleared, I think they need to play. That is assuming that we still can get the 4th seed if we beat Indiana. I’m really feeling like the importance of the 4th seed is being understated. We need it badly.

I don’t want to jinx us but maybe we’ll be ok for tonight without Caron and Gil. It’s not looking as bad as I thought it might be. I thought the pacers would be motivated as hell. Caron sitting out is understandable but I was seriously questioning the decision to sit Gil. I am praying that Eddie makes the right decision and plays both Caron and Gil if we win and the Cavs lose tonight.

Hey guys, just so you know I was in the locker room a couple guys talked about the play in phillly and they all agreed the refs made the right call. They are dissapointed they won’t get home court but this team has played through some of the most adverse situations you can find this season and they have come out on top. I have the NBA League Pass (as I’m sure some of you do), so I get to listen to quite a few play-by-play teams. There are a lot of stinkers out there. Boston’s guys are pretty awful. San Antonio’s group, especially Sean Elliot, are terrible homers. The Chicago grew is particularly putrid. But the two gentlemen who do Cavs games are beyond bad. I don’t know if there’s a word to describe them. Their color guy is particularly horrid. Their play-by-play guy, dare I say it, is worse than Michael Reghi. They’re more worked up about Gil and the Wizards than the players. It’s sad. I could hardly watch the end of the Cavs-Sixers game tonight. Cavs color analyst thought LeTravel was fouled twice on his last drive (he wasn’t fouled once). God awful pair. It makes you glad to have Phil and Steve.

I don’t have a problem with the “foul” called at the end of the game – other than it should have happened right away – and not with the shenanigans at the monitor which was shameful – the huge issue is that bron bron – BARRELED into the lane – initiated contact – took SEVERAL steps and then got his shot blocked – it should have been a TRAVEL – turnover – Sixers ball – GAME OVER … it should have never come down to foul shots!
it’s disgusting the way games are officiated when letravel is on the floor – if a bron bron no call travel costs the Wiz a game in the playoffs AGAIN – I’m seriously boycotting the NBA from now on … because it will be a complete joke

that was some BS there is a rule that says you can review the last play not the foul just to see if the shot got off in time there was no reason for the review of the play its the NBA huggin the Baby James

The game in Orlando now means nothing to us. I hope they give the 2nd team big minutes. Going into the playoffs having those guys as sharp as they were tonight is going to be a huge plus. We can contain Lebron given Deshawn is ok. Our big worry there is Ilgauskus. He has been hurt which may give us an edge. Put Mason on Gibson and I think that will slow him down a lot. I really like our chances in this upcoming series. We certainly are familiar with playing them in the first round. We beat Miami this year and got that monkey off our back. Now it’s time to beat the LeTraveliers in the first round. The “karma” is there.

Sportzwiz.. I love ya man, but, the guys in the locker room were throwing stuff at the monitor while watching the “end” plus of the Philly game. They all said the same thing all of us did…. Kobe and the “chosen” one’s team get that call. The ref’s had a consult first. Wow, would I have liked to be privy to THAT consult ! I wish they all would have said in the “consult” …. ” the Wizards won… if the Lebron’s lose it will make Wednesdays games Barn Burners”. They chose to call a foul that is never called?
Here is in hoping the officiating is better come playoff time.

What a terrific game by Dominic McGuire last night! Of course, he almost gave me a heart attack at the free throw line, but still…
Dom played 30 plus minutes (must be his most action in a game this year); if he’d cleaned up his free throw shooting a little, he would have had a double double. He shot efficiently, had 10 boards, and did everything else well too.
Nick did pretty well too; even Pech was positive. Andray was very active, with 11 boards in 27 minutes, good shooting too. His problem was the same as usual, however: he commits stupid fouls through lack of discipline. Still, he looked great.
Bottom line: we won a game against a team that has been hot and played pretty well. We did it w/o Gilbert, Caron or DeShawn, with Brendan playing only 16 minutes, and on a night when Antonio was a bit off and Antawn played well below his average.
Credit goes to Darius who played solid ball and above all to Roger Mason and Dominic McGuire. Especially Roger, who is earning himself a big pay check.

Good morning. I watched the game last night and read the blog, but my computer battery died. Anyway, can someone tell me what the “monitor shenanigans” thing was? I missed something. But UNBELIEVABLE that Philly lost! What a bunch of nonsense. We are going to have some serious problems with the refs in this series, which just means we have to beat them by A LOT so there is no question about fouls like this!!!!!!
I agree, DMAC was ballin’ last night! I love that kid’s game. Yes, he needs work, but I see so much potential in him. And Roger Mason, all I can say is WOW!!! I wish we could keep him for next year!

It’s time for Roger make a case to the Washington Wizards Organization, that you need my services and theres no way you should ever let me go! It’s Playoff time and there no better stage then right here right now to make a unbeatable case! Roger has the three-pointer down pat but is there more he can provide off the bench. Maybe a And One Specialist and a 90% free-throw threat would be definitely posssible! its your time to shine and get some more respect! honestly im not surprised at roger’s play last night. I keep on telling everybody that he has the nicest form/shot on our team. watching him shoot around in warm ups, this guy cant miss. im happy that his confidence level is up because he will be important for us coming off the bench against queen jame’s servants.

I wonder whether the Wiz (or Orlando) will play any starters in our last game? Or for how long? The comment on-air during the 4th quarter last night was “looks like a summer league game”. It did, too.

Let’s Go Wizards…we can win this game easily…
I would love to see us get off to a great start…that would give us the ability to rest Jamison and D-Steezy…and it would give our bench some good minutes…I will say that Caron SHOULDN’T suit up today…let the knee rest…if we could beat the Sixers without you…this game agaisnt the Pacers shouldnt even be a competition…but you know as they say anything can happen in the NBA…
P.S. Well Guys im off to school…I will be checking back in at 4:30 or so…
My School Hours…9:30-4:10…isnt it wierd…lol
