It’s Official Wizards-Cavs Round 1

Here we go again Wizards’ fans and I think I speak for everyone on the board when I say hopefully the third time is the charm! With the Raptors loss to the Pistons today the Wizards have clinched at least 5th place in the Eastern Conference playoffs which means for the third straight season the Wiz will play Cleveland in round 1 of the playoffs. The Wizards can still get homecourt in round 1, but would need Cleveland to lose two of their final three games (they play Miami, Philly and Detroit) and the Wizards would have to win their final two as well.

Yeah, let’s show the Traveliers our wizard powers!
Hopefully Philly beats them, Detroit most likely will also…then again it would be in our hands against orlando…let’s do it! If Arenas keeps improving like he did over the last games…easy as pie! ;>

greets,
phemy

Does anybody know if they are doing anything special at the verizon center before the game? I still think it is very possible to get 4th because philly and detroit can both beat the traveliers.

I’m not convinced that the Wiz have quite “clinched” a match-up with the Cavs.

Perhaps, I’m wrong but if the Wiz lose 2 and Philly and Toronto both win their remaining two games, the tiebreaker would be conference record. Since Toronto would have the better conference records, Toronto would be 5, Washington 6, and Philly 7.

Tinylives, actually in a 3 way tiebreaker it goes to head-to-head between the three teams.

For instance, The Wiz beat toronto 3 out of 4 times and split four games with Philly so their head-to-head record vs. those teams is 5-3. Toronto beat philly 3 out of four times and beat us once so their record is 4-4, and finally Philly is 3-5 vs. us and Toronto.

Had we lost to philly it would have made everyone 4-4 and then it would have gone to conference record which Toronto would have won. Hope that clearifies it for you.

I just like the thought of playing the Cavs in the first round of the playoffs. I don’t think the trade they made was very good and I feel like we have too many weapons for them to match up with. Where as with Cleveland, they’ve pretty much just got Lebron. I also look forward to the Wizards-Celtics match up in round 2. Even though the post season is totally different from the regular season, it should be a fun series.

ya i think the trade wasn’t a good one for cleveland. they shouldn’t have traded away drew gooden because he was a key guy in 2006 against us. gooden is much better than ben wallace, cuz gooden can do everything, wallace can’t do @#$%. west is an ok PG but when u got guys like boobie gibson n damon jones then ur set, plus pavlovic. i mean they still got queen james, ilgauskas, and varejao, but we r healthy this year AND we have depth (albeit inexperience). wizards win in 6, then go on to face the celtics.

Resilient is what Ivan Carter described our Wizards in his latest article. I believe its
a great character building trait that determines winners from losers. First to be resilient
you have to have lost something in this case a lose of a game or something. Next you have to believe that all this pain and fustration has meaning for a bigger purpose! Next you need the toughness attitude that you will never quite until the job is finally done. Right now the job is only just starting to materialize and there is much rebounding to do!

“absolutely” is what lebron says. deshawns comments added feul to the fire. well the media as u all new would do, is constantly bringing this is. despite deshawn comments the cavs and wiz match up is always antcipated. but the beloved “king james” aint write no bible, and there are no absolute truths. jay-z want be there. but soldier boy will. firstly let me say this, the pressure is mostly on us. deshawn brought pressure to himself firstly by calling lebron overrated, and when he came to washington he said the wizards were missing defense in the playoffs tha year of jeffries, and he was here to rescue them, well last year was a fluke, but we will see. and gilbert of course said everybody wants to play cleveland. well now is the time. u asked for it and u better deliver. and not only is this make or break, gil and twan is on contract resignings this summer, and most of all losing to the same team 3 times is rough. they already feel like they own us. and the media loves king james. im scared of the way we sag off their shooters “damon, pavlovich” but their biggest threat is big Z he gives us fits. and of course lebron, but i think deshawn and dominic can handle him or at least slow him down. GOOD LUCK WIZ. oh yeah…. get ur popcorn ready

Gee Wiz, I agree, we cannot afford to take ANY team lightly right now! Especially Cleveland. Payback will be sweet if we beat them, though! I know we can do it… not sure we WILL do it, but I know we CAN.

I might skip something tonight to watch the game, too! Not class, but another commitment that I can reschedule.

GO WIZ!!!! Come on 7:00… I am bored!

truthfully fellas, what the hell is the deal with the verizon center crowd? i go to at lease 3 games a month and everytime i go i cheer like its game 7 of the finals. and evey time i she “shhhhh’ed”… WTF!?!. its almost os though the wiz fans dont like to be loud!. have they never been to an NCAA tourney game? i would hate to see them at a caps game. they might have to leave! lol. seriosly, i had two cuples turn to me in the 4th of philly game and asked me to calm down. Zero is heating up and they want to sit on their hands?! fo the playoffs we need real fans at the games, i want to win! We got the james gang and the boston 3 party wrapped up. GO WIZ, WE believe!!!!

king James, I have to disagree. The trade didn’t help Clevland. Not saying it hurt it just didn’t help. Lebron can carry a team far into the playoffs as we saw last year, but this year is different. Clevland can’t scout the Wizards with Arenas as the six man. If Ilgauskas doesn’t show up our defense (YES we finally can play some D this year) will stop you guys. If the Wiz play their game, meaning Haywood gets involved early, D-Stevenson puts a slight lock on Lebron(holding him under 25) and Arenas and Caron play their usual games, we should beat you guys in six games convincingly. Last year really did not count without Caron Ron and Arenas. For the first time in year we have wins based off of defense not over offense. Back to back against Boston, sweep of Dallas, and New Orleans. Both Boston victories were off strong defensive efforts. Look out Lebron, look out Boston, it is our year to make some noise.
