Game Day Sixers
8:35 AM……Dave Johnson checking in…..Simply put we will have to play much better…..I thought we were in the game in the second quarter when we made it a three point gamne at 45-42 but we missed a couple of possessions after that….and the third quarter–well I don’t want to think about it….Caron Butler clearly was not moving as well in the second  half after he banged his right knee–same knee he banged in practice on Tuesday—one of his put back attempts was stuffed by the rim because he did not get his usual lift…cross your fingers that he feels better…DeShawn Stevenson also bruised his tailbone but it is  hard to see him sitting out after what he has already played through…..this is the night.. the Sixers are in town.. they are athletic and they will push the ball… need to be ready…..it is the second of a back-to-back but I would expect Gilbert Arenas to play…BLOGCAST starts at 7.
6:41PM…Dave Johnson checking in….no Caron Butler tonight….bruised right knee and is listed as day-to-day…Darius Songaila will start in his place…Wizards are 7-3 with Songaila as a starter….
6:51PM…starters are in….daniels, stevenson, songaila, jamison, and haywood….Sixers will go with miller, green, iguodala, young, and dalembert
6:54 PM…Spalding  Never Flat Pack Winner…tonight’s winner is Girum Tessema from Arlington Virginia…Girum wins the Spalding Never Flat Pack which includes a basketball, football, volleyball and soccer ball…..winners are from random picks of e-mails..send your name and address to wizardspromotions@washsports.com

very important game! we need to start with high energy right away from the 1st Q, don’t give them an early lead - that will “motivate” them - don’t make bad jumpshoots like yesterday, and watch out for iguodala…than we can get this. Hope Caron and Deshawn are fit to go, and gil gets closer to his old form (esp. shooting) ;>

As for me, we played so bad yesterday that we can only play great today, and we actually HAVE to so let’s get out there and show philly we’re the fifth seed and that’s it! Our two loss against the 76ers were pretty disapointing losser and even heart breaking for me (okay every single loss is heart breaking…) so tonight it really really huge! Hopefuly Caron and DeShawn will be okay and will be able to play their best basketball as we will definitely need it! I guess Gilbert will play which will be interesting cuz I’m sure that he’s part of the equation which will bring us a solid W against philly, we missed him a lot in our previous games against em.
GO WIZARDSSSSS!

Keys: Transition D, Sixers can really push it, and defensive rebounding is crucial, Sixers are #2in Off rebs and #4 in 2nd chance points. Wiz need to try to make this a 1/2 court game.

I think it’s great the Wizards stepped up tonight for this win……one that we desperately needed for the tie-breaker…….now all we gotta focus on is 3 things: beating indiana and/or orlando, caron getting his knees back into shape from being injured all season, and the wizards having success in the playoffs!!!!

OUTSTANDING FOURTH “MONEY’ QUARTER ,YOU SHOWED WHAT KIND OF DEFENSE YOU CAN PLAY WHEN AT HOME BACKED INTO A CORNER. MY NEXT QUESTION IS CAN YOU BRING IT ON THE ROAD FOR A WIN IN ORLANDO. GREAT JOB AGENT ZERO YOUR RANGE IS DEFINITELY COMING BACK SO KEEP UP THE HARD BUT TEDIOUS WORK!
I EXPECT ANOTHER BIG GAME FROM JAMISON BECAUSE HE REALLY SHOW OFF DOWN IN ORLANDO FOR SOME REASON. DESHAWN I SEE YOU HAVE IT GOING ALSO GREAT JOB! LETS REST AND GET TREATMENT ON OUR INJURIES AND THEN COMEBACK REFRESHED!

I was only able to see the 4th quarter, and what a great quarter it was — wow!!
A really big win for our guys. We’re pretty close to clinching the 5 spot, and I think that is quite an accomplishment all things (i.e. all injuries) considered.
Toronto plays at Detroit tomorrow night; here’s hoping the Pistons step on them, and I think that will do it.

Game ball to DeShawn who had one of his best games as a Wizard. Incredibly efficient on offense, incredibly tough on defense. Add 4 rebounds, 7 assists, a steal and only one foul. Great game.
Gilbert was off the charts as well — in fact, pretty much everyone played well. Brendan couldn’t get shots to go down, but he did everything else extremely well. Of course, Antawn too.
Lets win out — that would be very cool!

I was sitting right behind the broadcast boys….great job all around.
