Gameday Sacramento
Hello everyone, Dave will be checking in shortly but until then, just a quick preview of tonight’s opponent.
Sacramento comes in with a record of 32-39, but don’t let that record fool you, Sacramento is a very talented team that plays extremely well at home (22-12 home record). Their strength is their wing play as both Artest and Martin average over 20 points a game.
Without Mike Bibby, Beno Udrih has taken over the starting pg spot, but he may be out for tonight’s game with a lower back strain, officially he is listed as questionable. Anthony Johnson will most likely start in his place with Mikki Moore and Brad Miller filling out the starting lineup.
Great to hear your thoughts on your surprise player, and in regards to Tom’s comments about Antawn I can’t disagree at all he has been unbelieveable this year, but I can also say the same about Caron who has taken his game to another level.
12:19 PT…3:19 ET….Dave Johnson checking in…got side tracked but like the team…… now focused on the game tonight…..don’t let the Kings record or the Wizards previous win back in December fool you ….this will not be easy….Wizards need to get back to the way they were playing before we came out here….really needed Roger Mason to bail us out on Wednesday and give Antawn Jamison credit on a night when he was not shooting well..he kept battling on the boards and then made key shots late but without Mason that would have been a loss…..team traveled here to Sacramento and then rested which is really what they needed with the schedule of late…BLOGCAST starts at 10…hope you can join us…
9:20 ET…Dave Johnson checking in from Arco Arena…..No Beno Udrih will not play tonight with a strained lower back
9:24 ET…..Spalding Never Flat random winner…..tonight’s winner is Melissa Barber of Alexandria Va……again we have a winner every night…..send your name and address to wizardspromotions@washsports.com……
for our European friends—I have yet to pick a European name but I know some have entered—I am checking on eligibility….but again Glenn and I appreciate everyone who listens and blogs.

I agree about Caron — but I don’t think it was as big a *surprise* for him to continue improving.
Lets get this big win tonight!
March 28th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
hopefully Ron Artest’s defense wont bother Caron but im not that worried about it. Lets keep going into the paint they dont really have any big men that can block
March 28th, 2008 at 12:37 PM
well we got the 76ers playing the Suns if we can get this win i think the Suns will take care of the “hot” 76ers puting us 1 1/2 gams up on them for the 5th spot!
March 28th, 2008 at 1:00 PM
I wouldn’t be counting on anyone to beat Philadelphia right now — but in any case, this is a game we need to win.
March 28th, 2008 at 4:25 PM
Lets go to DisneyLand the Youngun dreamed while the warrior kings went about there daily duties. He dreamed some more of being a warrior king and wanted to resolve this situation. The commander of the warrior kings saw promise but also lack of discipline so he stayed there at the end of the bench dreaming the day he would have the confidence of his warriors to go out with them. Will the next warrior king wake up or will he keep dreaming at the end of the bench. Dray I believe you will wake up and be just that!
March 28th, 2008 at 5:40 PM
We need to go in with with a lot of energy and play well 2nite and start a early run..if we do that were good for the night. Also play with a lot of D and get some players from off the bench and play very good with a lot of energy also. Other than that. I can say that we got this game tonight but dont let the kings fool ya they will play but like i said we can pull a win off 2nite
March 28th, 2008 at 6:28 PM
hallo zusammen,
…won’t be blogging tonight, got some stuff to do tomorrow early in the morning, and then holidays are over… gotta see how i’ll manage watchin’ the game&getting up early ;>
But yeah, kinda have to repeat myself - like the last few games: Very important game once again, one we really have to win. I’m, like Tom, not so sure that PHX will beat PHI, but ..we’ll see…
If (or when!) Antawn hits buckets like usually again, mason and caron stay hot, haywood rebounds etc…we’re good to go, easy win
greetz and good luck wizards,
Phemy
March 28th, 2008 at 7:16 PM
We’re in trouble if we lose this one. With the Puddlers and the Jazz coming up.
Got to get good inside play, offense and rebounding.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:52 PM
9:20 ET…Dave Johnson checking in from Arco Arena…..No Beno Udrih will not play tonight with a strained lower back
March 28th, 2008 at 8:52 PM
9:24 ET…..Spalding Never Flat random winner…..tonight’s winner is Melissa Barber of Alexandria Va……again we have a winner every night…..send your name and address to wizardspromotions@washsports.com……

March 28th, 2008 at 8:54 PM

March 28th, 2008 at 9:05 PM
so is he coming back soon????? what does it mean by active but no play
March 28th, 2008 at 9:08 PM
you can list 12 active players for each game..we only have a totsl of 13 players..so we just list thomas on the inactive…..this happens with other teams…….still no timetabel on arenas…
March 28th, 2008 at 9:09 PM
anyone else out tonite?
March 28th, 2008 at 9:13 PM
no just arenas ands thomas…udrih out for the kings

starters are a johnson, martin, miller, moore, artest……daniels, stevenson, haywood, jamison, butler
March 28th, 2008 at 9:20 PM
SportzWiz and the DJs are always good at putting that info up top. From what was read, I doubt that other players besides Gil and Etan will be out. Nick (as you probably know) already returned from his injury.
Now let me go eat so I can at least be a little bit more on time - I always wait at the last minute. I baked dessert tonight - cookie bars; having one with some ice-cream (Yum). Be back in a few…
March 28th, 2008 at 9:29 PM
wow sounds like a wizards party
March 28th, 2008 at 9:34 PM

March 28th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
Arco Arena is like a high school gym compared to VERIZON CENTER
March 28th, 2008 at 9:37 PM

Enjoy the game everyone
GO Wiz.
March 28th, 2008 at 9:47 PM

March 28th, 2008 at 9:52 PM
welcome john50..that’s what eddie said before the game..need to keep kings on their heels
March 28th, 2008 at 9:54 PM
Yep DJ - strictly entertainment here
Jamison is HOT!!
Where the hell is everybody?…C’mon people!
March 28th, 2008 at 9:55 PM
wow how did that guy get that open
March 28th, 2008 at 9:56 PM
how old is AD i would hate to see him when he was 20 if he is that fast now
March 28th, 2008 at 9:59 PM
ad is 32….defense needs to be better
March 28th, 2008 at 10:02 PM
o no this is not what we need
March 28th, 2008 at 10:04 PM
I agree W4L. I had my little bro and sis over just the other day and I had them guess how old AD was (because they were talking about how FAST he is). My sister’s guess was 20; my brother’s was 23. Can y’all believe that!!
But yeah, the man is fast…
March 28th, 2008 at 10:08 PM
wow what a shot
March 28th, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Nice D i think the young guys play better D for some reason
March 28th, 2008 at 10:11 PM

March 28th, 2008 at 10:19 PM
stevsnon rols ankle back in
March 28th, 2008 at 10:19 PM
i been on this for a wile now i wonder why we never sent AB to the D league for at least a year or 2….
and god only knows how good he would be with 2-3 years of collage under his belt
March 28th, 2008 at 10:24 PM
certainly this year blacthe was needed for numbers….but i think he has always shown enoiugh to stay at this level…but make no mistake ..he has ROOM to grow…..
March 28th, 2008 at 10:30 PM
We just seem to be playing too comfortably out there - I’m seeing no sense of urgency really.
I’m also worried about Caron. He just don’t seem to be playing like he’s completely 100% from injury.
I would REALLY dislike to lose to this team…Not saying that we are, but I would hate to…
March 28th, 2008 at 10:33 PM
i don’t think butler is totally back……but he has had soime gamnes..tonight forcing things
March 28th, 2008 at 10:37 PM
OPEN 3 POINTERS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES? Last game it was the same thing… open 3 pointers from opponent and not running offense/rushing shots from us. We need to learn from these losses at least.
March 28th, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Thanks DJ. I noticed the same thing as well. We have to apply that D. I know we are going to win (Cause I believe in the team) However, we have to show these teams why we are 5th in the Eastern conference and climbing. We are a Threat. We have always been. We need to play and act with that confidence.
March 28th, 2008 at 10:37 PM
this has to be one of the most funniest halfs i have ever seen. a lot of sloppy bad plays. what i really liked the most is when Anthony Johnson turned it over when he tried to shoot and then pass hahahaha. pretty much after that everyone was playing bad and sloppy. we really need this win. philly is half a game behind us
March 28th, 2008 at 10:42 PM
14-2 fast break points
March 28th, 2008 at 10:43 PM
we need this one because it will put us up a game on them and we got 2 hard ones on the way
March 28th, 2008 at 10:43 PM
da big taba good points…funny thing bya johnson he actually just about knows our play calls from his time in jersey and sac wtih eddie
March 28th, 2008 at 10:44 PM
and why does every team shoot 55% against us lately?
March 28th, 2008 at 10:53 PM
Oh that was niccceeee!
March 28th, 2008 at 10:53 PM

P.S. I hope Gilbert is ready to play at the Staples Center…i know i maybe a little amitious but still..he loves the national stage
March 29th, 2008 at 12:09 AM
The Warrior Kings Won one the hard way! I like it because it doesn’t come down to a last second wish and we are winning with a plus 5 or plus 6 diferrential in scoring!
Determination, Dedication & Discipline is what the warriors swear by!
March 29th, 2008 at 12:57 AM
sorry yall i was at a party..i see they won..Good win
March 29th, 2008 at 6:34 AM
Sorry, last day of vacation I had to celebrate properly… Anyway we won and that’s what matters!! I’m gonna try to watch this one cuz it’s not every day that we drop 114 on someone.
I believe Stevenson and Songaila had especially good games! Of course Antawn also had a good game as usually.
Philly lost, we won, we’re still in fifth!
Btw you can pick my name in the spalding contest if you want a european name Dave ;).
March 29th, 2008 at 7:09 AM
I’ve got the game on DVR and no doubt I’ll check it out — at least the 2d half (this is getting to be our specialty, these heart attack comebacks).
Looking at the line, DeShawn had one of his best games of the season — and it’s obvious that we really needed it! Darius played extremely well too. And Jamison, as usual, was the leader.
Very unusual for Caron and Brendan to have off games; they have been so consistent. Blatche had 3 rebounds and a block in less than 10 minutes. He must be deep in the doghouse, to be playing so little, but who knows why.
Roger had an awful game — bad shooting and lots of turnovers. And Nick did nothing.
But… hey, we got the W, and that’s what counts. Now lets go knock off the Lakers just for fun!
March 29th, 2008 at 7:30 AM
Yeah, great win! And wow - nice dunk there by CB!
Lakers lost against memphis - cmon, we can beat them too! Let’s go for the 4th spot =D
greets,
phemy
March 29th, 2008 at 7:35 AM
I didn’t watch the game but heard the halftime score and figured all was lost. Great to wake up to a surprise. If we can get an upset in one of the next two I think we can overtake the Cavs and get home court advantage against them in the playoffs.
March 29th, 2008 at 8:24 AM
Caron Butler - #1 on NBATV Daily (top 10 plays) -and- had “Haier Play of the day”
Proof that teamwork is KEY
*Kobe Bryant had 53 points in yesterday’s game against the Griz and they STILL lost! Haha that’s funny…
March 29th, 2008 at 9:14 AM
Just watched the game, we should have never let this team be that close, bu we get the W and we needed that since 76ers lost. I love D-Songs game he gives you rebounds and points in the paint he was the player of the game tonight. The DUNK was like that, CB3 flying high AWESOME BABY! I hope we have some of that for Kobe and the gang.
March 29th, 2008 at 9:38 AM
I just watched the game and this third quarter was definitely wild. I mean we started with the 3 or 4 worst minutes of the whole game, and then we took control, mainly with Jamison’s halley oop and Caron’s dunk. Then Mikki Moore decided to help out a lil bit and it was done. Great move to put Darius into the game in the late 4th.
Now let’s take care of business in LA!
March 29th, 2008 at 1:09 PM
Warrior King on the prowl!
http://aol.nba.com/wizards/photogallery/shotsofthegame_080328_1.html
Case Closed!
March 29th, 2008 at 1:11 PM
Two dependable reserves now in Mason and Songaila (now that he’s gotten his game back). And with Arenas and (presumably) Thomas back next week we’ll have four. The four kids can be in street clothes for the rest of the year as far as I’m concerned.
It seems to me like the 3 point shot is gradually becoming a bigger part of the NBA game. We’ve never been a good 3 point team. I hope Mason and Hopla are changing that. And we’ve never been good at defending the 3. I hope Ayers is working on improving that.
I REALLY hope Mason comes back. Actually, I hope that Jamison, Arenas, Mason and McGuire are all resigned. And that we have enough left to sign our two draft picks for a full complement of 15. It would be hard to earn playing time with that team.
March 29th, 2008 at 1:34 PM
I not trying to get all personal or anything but neal I disagree with your comment above:
“The four kids can be in street clothes for the rest of the year as far as I’m concerned.”
I completely disagree with this. I’ll throw out a scenario - what if your job (or whatever) is like “Oh neal, we don’t need you anymore at this time because we have better workers to perform your job for you.” I guess that just gets up my skin a bit because the “four kids” (as some of you like to call them) work hard too. They in the NBA with dreams, just as the rest of the team are. Shouldn’t then, y’all be calling the Vets ‘elders” or something. I guess that I’m a kid then too huh.
Also Mason and Young (in my opinion) did not have off games - they made some key shots.
Man, I’m even thinking of not posting on here anymore because I just get so pissed sometimes. I guess that that’s what passion for the SPORT itself does and not necessarily for stats and numbers.
That’s all I gotta say…

Hey Bridge, I agree with you, the young guys have had key moments in games when we really needed them. Especially Nick Young he has showed immaturity at times but he has hit some big shot and made some fantastic plays. Gil is not going to come back with the same swag, he has not played in a while and we need these guys to do what they do and have done. I love the vets, but the youngins have kept us in the hunt all season. PS keep posting, its about people expressing opinions everything said here is from the passion of fans that want to see this team win, we are all in it together. Go Wiz!

The four kids I mentioned did not include Mason. They are the three rookies and Blatche.

neal -
I think you misunderstood…I know who the four “kids” are that y’all refer to, I was just responding back to a comment Tom made above. I know this team - I would be able to give facts about every player whether sleep, drunk, or if I had amnesia; with all three of these, I still would be able to. I love this team…
Thanx Suz
And I will try Aundra…

Hey Bridge just wanted to show some support! I almost posted a coment earlier today to say how fed up I was about people determining wheter players had done well in a game or not only by looking at the stat sheet. I usually always try to watch the games I miss (such as yesterday) to understand really who played well and who had an impact but didn’t really fill the stat sheet. But I calmed down and didn’t post. Now you did and I definitely have to say I’m behind you and understand you, but you know what, we’re here to share our passion and to give opinions so let’s just keep on doing what we do and ignore some unimportant stuffs…

I am going to group Mason in with the “kids” simply because he has never played any significant NBA minutes prior. What the “kids” give us, especially the last two games, is something that doesn’t appear on a stat sheet. Our starters were flat both games. As soon as the “kids” hit the floor they brought ENERGY with them onto the court. That energy in the last few games has been very infectous. They spark our team! When they sit and the starters come back in they seem to try to emulate that same energy. that equals a win win situation. Bottom line is we have come back both times to win. It won’t appear in the stats but they won the game for us.
Bridge… I’ve got socks older than 22 LOL.
