9:08 ETÂ Dave Johnson checking in….no Chris Wilcox tonight….injured pinkie finger…..Earl Watson is a question mark with a right calf contusion
9:15 PM……Spalding Never Flat Random Winner time…….our winner tonight is Josh Brick of Fairfax, Virginia……Josh wins the Spalding Never Flat Pack which inlcudes a basketball, football, soccer and volleybal……if you have not done so send your name and address to wizardspromotions@washsports.com

Neal, it was a 3-point extravaganza by the Blazers, and it seems that we cannot guard 3 point shooters to save our lives.

I don’t think that was the issue, though it didn’t help. We were outrebounded by about 20!
I suppose when you lose so badly, there are a host of factors to point at. We shot extremely poorly as well.

i only saw a little bit of the game last night in the second half. i was encouraged by our defensive effort in the first bit of the 4th quarter, just the inability to capitalize on their misfortunes is what i think ultimately did us in. i think there were 3 minutes already gone in the 4th quarter and we had only scored 2 points (they hadn’t scored yet) off of a combination of several forced turnovers and several defensive stops/rebounds. our inability to capitalize last night against portland down the stretch did us in..
on a less serious note, i wonder what would have happened if we had gilbert. he still hasn’t gone true on his word of scoring 50 against mcmillan.. maybe next year.

Rod Benson, All-Star from the Dakota Wizards wrote in his latest blog about having Gilbert go through a rehab assignment in the D-League similar to what MLB teams do by sending them to their Triple-A Affiliates. Anyway, very funny and definitely worth the quick read.

That was funny – he got a pretty creative idea goin’…
I’ll be on here blogging tonight for the game. I was listening to my Gnarls Barkley CD (which is SICK by the way; sick=GREAT).
It just seemed like they went out like it was going to be an easy game or something, but boy were they (and we) surprised. Just as most of us think of Portland as a “lower” team, I think that’s kinda how the game was…approached. We can’t go out like that against the Sonics tonight (even though we all know that the Sonics…C’mon the Sonics…aren’t that great a team, but ya never know).
We gotta stay FIERCE! GO WIZARDS!

OK we lost to one of those hot shooting 3 baller west coast teams namely the Portland Trailblazers who rarely gets beat at there Homeland. I feel we had alot of good come out of the game because we reached the low limit on 7 key fundamentals. However if we having a low field goal percentage then any team can beat up so that being said lets get busy! Secondly some how some way we must we must take over the rebounds and out rebound the other team soon or we will lose! The key is to start fast and vicious and get the reserves to play outstanding also! Good Luck lets float like a butterfly sting like A Bee!!

Its a bird It’s a plane No it’s Mr.RM. Random Missiles any time from long range.
You saved us this game and we fans thank you very much. We stayed true on the free throw line for 90% and we needed everyone of them. Our Rebounding was disasterous we were out rebounded 49 to 32. I personally donot know how we won this one from that one stat. We stayed true to not turning over the ball with 10 which is very good but not outstanding because Caron needs to curb his nobrainers down a little! However they seemed to go inside repeatedly for layups since there three point shooting was non existent! The steals and fastbreaks were exciting and thats our bread and butter so use it with reckless abandoment! Get soon rest and get in the whirlpool for treatment if you can! Good Luck!

Great come back, and, great Win. Did anyone else notice…. Mason had five 3 pointers in the 4th quarter and pretty much put the team on his shoulders and brought us back… BUT…. (this is the cool part) when watching the game I noticed that on 3 of those 3 pointers Songaila is the one that set the pick to get Roger wide open. Roger had a Great game, but, Darius may just have had a slightly better one. Roger canning the 3′s brought us back. Darius’ picks, defense, assists, and scoring may really be the reason we came back and won this one. Anyone that doubted Songaila before …. rasberries to ya lol. That man plays smart basketball.
We are still in 5th place……

one of the reasons i thought that we were down in the first place is because we cudnt get any points in the paint for some reason. we were settling in for too many jumpers that we cudnt make. jamison and stevenson cudnt make anything inside of outside.
roger mason really did carrie us. only him and caron was really creating our offensive flow.
i wud have to agree with grifon that songaila had a terrific game too. he kept getting to the basket making his layups. his defense was also bothered his defenders. did anyone see how long he made wilkins hold the ball when he was guarding him??? he made him take a lot of time off the shot clock. great win for the wizards. we cant lose an important game to a team like seattle (17-53) lol. im still frustrated with the loss to portland but they were really on fire and we cudnt get any offense going

I didn’t get to watch the game, but I have it on the DVR. Sounds like I’ll be fine just watching the 4th quarter?
Rebounding almost cost us the game: we allowed them 5 more shots, and they had 4 more FT attempts than we did too.
Obviously, give this one to Roger Mason; we wouldn’t have won except that he was on fire from the 3 point line. Songaila played well too, except for rebounding (which no one but Antawn did).
The entire team — minus Antawn — managed 20 rebounds! That’s everyone combined.
Antawn’s game is really fantastic right now, and it has been the whole 2d half of the season. He’s not shooting a high %, but otherwise he is just over the moon. What a way to play the 2d half of your contract year, huh?

Can’t leave Brendan out — he played extremely well, which we are used to by now. Caron too, except for 5 turnovers.
We are going to need DeShawn to step up against Sacramento. We’re going to *need* that win.
Note that the 4 kids combined for less than 13 minutes last night. McGuire got 5 of them and had a steal and a blocked shot to go w/ one foul and both a made and a missed ft. That’s at least some production. Nick and Dray did less than nothing.
Anyone know why Andray played only 2 minutes last night?

Antwan seems to be a little tired to me, he should be he has been carrying the team on his back all season. I hope he gets some rest tonight because we have some tough games ahead.

I didn’t see the game. Wish I had seen all Mason’s threes.
What’s up with rebounding? Aren’t we supposed to be a good rebounding team? Are our centers not getting position? Getting out hustled?
I’ve watched a couple of college games lately. The refs there (and HS I guess) don’t call as many fouls there. Maybe that’s part of the reason our rooks and Blatche get called for so many fouls – they’re not used to the stricter standard.

Sorry y’all, I was tired as hell and fell out. I finished watching the game this morning. That was a great win. How you gonna put me out like that ant; I wasn’t mad that we were losing cuz I knew we were gonna win, so I just went to sleep trusting that the Wiz would hold it down…And they did!!!
If it helps, I missed blogging with y’all lol….
Yeah, I heard that crazy a** fan too yelling “airball” (like a couple of times) at my boy Caronimo. I don’t know why cuz they had a couple of those too. Hahahahaha (damn fan).
C’mon GR; D. Song is great and all, and he did great last night, but give the man Mason his FULL credit. He only deserves it. All I gotta say is: WHAT I TELL Y’ALL ABOUT MASON – leave the guy alone…He’s all good….
To all those “hater” teams, announcers, and refs: WE COMIN BABY!!

I watched the game this morning too. I watched the first quarter, then skipped forward to where we were down 73-56, so that I could watch the big come back.
It was fun. Everyone played great that whole stretch of 1.5 quarters.
Man, Kevin Durant looks a lot like George Gervin!

lol… Bridge I was only trying to give credit where credit was due. I knew “Everyone” would be talking about Roger and the teriffic game he had. It’s just that 3 of his 3 pointers in the fourth quarter were Wide Open shots because of the great picks Songaila set for him. And like Da Big Taba said it was really cool to watch him on that posession in the 4th quarter guarding Wilkins. He made him hold the ball for 8 or 10 seconds.
I’ve been on Mason’s bandwagon since he played here in college.
Mr. Blatche is obviously in Mr. Jordan’s doghouse. As far as I know there isn’t anything wrong with him? We sure could have used his quickness around the basket last night!

But, Blatche played 20 minutes in Portland — and he was… ok (not bad, and a lot better than some other guys).
Maybe Eddie just thinks it’s veteran time. He is right, it is.

Neal… Brendan just wasn’t quick enough for Collison. That guy is a rebounding machiene. Every single time it seemed Collison would have position on him at both ends. We could have used Blatche in there a little, but, Eddie didn’t play him?
