Game Day Chicago
4:20 AM CST…Dave Johnson up and getting ready for tonight’s Bulls game…..BLOGCAST starts at 8PM Eastern and you can listen online as we Blog while we do radio…and we will have another random winner in our Spalding Never Flat Pack contest….The Wizards are 2-2 in their last 4 games and with a win tonight would be 3-2 with two of the victories coming on the road. We are keeping our fingers crossed on Caron Butler. It is encouraging that he is resting and feeling better and will be looked at against next week. For now Antawn Jamison’s philosophy:“Not to make excuses but it has been kind of difficult. We still have been playing tough and we have been in a majority of our games.”
“We have always been a team with pretty good character. No matter what the situation is we find a way to get it done. As long as I am on the court, we are going to have guys out there who want to play the game of basketball and want to win.”
This will be a big challenge tonight against a Bulls teams that is poised to make a late season run. They are only two and half games out of the final playoff spot. Head coach Eddie Jordan on the Bulls….” They are a very aggressive, active young group. They also have added key veterans like Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden. So it seems like everyone except for Joakim Noah has been to the playoffs and Noah won two NCAA championships and is a winner. Their guards coming off the bench, Larry Hughes and Ben Gordon, are very agrresive There is a lot of random play because there are new people in the lineup. They are a hard group to defend and rebound against”…Hope you can join us for the BLOGCAST.
7:15 PM EST…We have a winner. Congrats to Reuben Moghadam on Washington DC…..He is our winner tonight in the Spalding Never Flat contest…It might be Reuben the blogger….anyway he wins a basketball, football, soccer ball and volleyball…..it is simple just send your name and address to wizardspromotions@washsports.com
7:18PM…Dave Johnson checking in…could be a change in the starting lineup tonight…Darius Songaila might start over Andray Blatche…..DeShawn Stevenson had wisdom teeth pulled but is a go…Roger Mason has a sore hamstring but will play
7:34 PM..starters are in…..Songaila is in for Blatche…daniels, stevenson, haywood, and jamison…Larry Hughes starts…with hinrich, deng, thomas, and noah

February 29th, 2008 at 7:34 AM
Yes, it’ll be a tough game. Noah is working out very well as a rookie. If DS plays well, and Andray is focused, we have a shot to win.
February 29th, 2008 at 12:00 PM
No matter what happens the Wiz play hard, and that’s a plus, So’ Eddie, however I think that the sands of time are runnin’out.Caron and Gil are the keys and here they are lookin’ sharp sittin’ on the bench with their nice duds on…This is the 2nd year in a row. Right now they are damaged goods and sometimes I wonder if Gil will even be with us next year…Caron’s no dummy and he wants to heal properly and not become permenant damaged goods like maybe Gil is….I don’t blame him….
Meanwhile the days dwindle down for our team…The only poitive I see out of this whole situation is that our reserves are gettin’ more minutes, and that’s a good thing…At any rate I’ll be in my bedroom, with my big 48 inch TV on, up here on the Mason Dixon boarder, rootin’ the guys on..Us Wizard fans just have to stick with it year in and year out, because that’s what loyal fans do!!!
Go Wizards, I’ll always love Ya!!!!
February 29th, 2008 at 5:01 PM
Key to this Game will be TEMPO. we need to set the tone early and run through our offensice sets crisply as all the movement that our offense creates when run properly should loosen up their defense and create some easy baskets. We should be able to get get 3 or 4 layups out of just back door plays with the way they try and pressure on defense.
February 29th, 2008 at 5:02 PM
I’ll harp on the same thing that I was at the beginning of the season. Because this organization is owned by a pool of flesh that doesn’t know what’s going on, the team physically suffers by trying to short the amount of players needed, because of a salary cap issues. We have been short all year and have also made Jamison play way more minutes than he should be. None of this gets the team ready for the playoffs. We have one of the best general managers in the business, trying to piecemeal a playoff squad. In the words of a car salesman,”Let’s do a lot with a little”.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:53 PM
I won’t be on here much to blog tonight, but I’ll be watching the game. I’m just so busy; I guess I’ll be taking multi-tasking to a new level: watching the game while packing while blogging.
Pray for me people lol.
GO WIZ!!

February 29th, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Glenn Here: Keys: Bulls are one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the NBA, Wiz must limit 2nd chance opportunities, also limit turnovers, Bulls, loaded with guards will apply pressure, run and jump. also try and get open shots. Darius with the start tonight against his former team must play big.
February 29th, 2008 at 8:31 PM

February 29th, 2008 at 9:18 PM

February 29th, 2008 at 9:20 PM

February 29th, 2008 at 9:29 PM

February 29th, 2008 at 9:31 PM
Ohhh. I still don’t agree with the call…
Thanks DJ
February 29th, 2008 at 9:31 PM
it is just hard to watch us struggle on offense…wuzards only 4 field goals last 13:24 of the first half….only 11 points in sceond quarter…dehsawn did not have his shot going…1/8 jamison 1/10
February 29th, 2008 at 9:32 PM
yeah i don’t know what he could have said to get two quick ones like that
February 29th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
we were trying to drive to help our selfs and we cant get the calls… an that happend in the last game…. we tryed the paint then and they were calling nothing…. and if you dont have a outside shot and you cant get a call your way on a drive your going to lose!
February 29th, 2008 at 9:37 PM
You know I think the refs made a mistake. I think that they both blew the whistles and didnt want to admit to it.
We are under 28% right now we could do it….

Wow — just looked at the box; we were down 18 points at the half and came back like gang busters. Very nice.
Big game from Andray. Nice work by Darius in a rare start. DeShawn must be completely worn out. Looks like the starters played the 2d half w/ the exception that Roger played for DeShawn.
The 2d unit seems to have been totally ineffective w/ the exception of Andray. He had the best night of any Wizard player, yet we went down 14 during his minutes.
Nick, Dominic and Pech together went 2 for 8 and got a combined 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 assist. Together they got called for 5 fouls, but they got to the line zero times!! Good thing we got the win, or they’d be pretty down I’m sure.

Deshawn got two back to back technicals and was shown the door lol

It was the best 3rd quarter of basketball I’ve ever seen the Wizards play!

Looking forward to seeing Caron and Gilbert come back online asap!
GO WIZ!

Well I obviously couldn’t watch this game and damn I hate ESPN…. Anyway this was a great game, I mean DeShawn was “asked” to leave the floor and even with that we managed to get a W against a team which isn’t that bad (anymore). I wasn’t sure about this game but I had a lil hope and honestly I’m really happy we got it. In the mean time I read about Gil going through a full non-contact practice, pretty good, I mean you never know what will happen with Gil but it has to be a good news!
Let’s head to sunday confidently, and try and get our second win against one of the best squads in the league!!

DeShawn got 2 T’s? I bet Eddie was ticked about that!! Turned out fine, however.
I don’t think the Bulls are very good, guys. They didn’t get better via this last trade, and if they traded big Ben there must be problems on the squad. But, who cares? We got a road win we needed.

Great Win guys… DeShawn got “T” up really quick, i thought that the game was over from then…but obiously i was wrong…we went on a BIG run…I think everyone did pretty well in this game with the exception of Olesksiy Pechorov…he got POSTERIZED by out of all people Nocioni…i mean i would understand if it were LeBron James or Kobe..but Nocioni…anyways…Haywood game up really BIG at the end of last nights game…great win…cant wait to see the game on Sunday…it should be a great one..
GO WIZARDS

It would give a little bit of credibility if we could beat the Hornets on our court. Not to mention a sense of pride and maybe a little momentum. No easy task. They are very good this year. I hope Andray’s leg is ok and Deshawn has cooled down. We will need both of them plus a top notch game from everyone else. Haywood is a given. You can count on one hand the games he has “taken off” this year. Question.. how many other than me think Haywood playing like he always could but for some reason didn’t this season is the real “spark” for the Wizards? I think him coming in this season with a fire in his belly for basketball (finally) set the tone for the Wizards early on. He continues to play with fire and it seems everyone else feeds off that. There has been a lot of talk this season about Caromimo (owe Bridge another buck.. well spent
) and maybe there should have been just a little more about Haywood?

CaroNimo (rats another buck lol)

yeah, but no buck for the misspelling…
About Haywood — seeing him differently also makes one look at the past differently. How much of his erratic nature was a *very motivated* ball player expressing his frustration w/ how he was being used?
I always thought Haywood should be the starter and get 30 minutes a night. I like Etan, but he is *not* the center Brendan is. He doesn’t have the size or mobility. In fact, when he came into the league the expectation was that he’d be a 4. He just didn’t develop at that position. Here’s hoping that when he comes back, both he and Eddie can accept that he is a backup.

Yes those “fights” between Haywood and Thomas had a 3rd participant in Eddie. Eddie just never threw any punches. Eddie played the Haywood vs Thomas card way too long. Even if Eddie was forced to realize a few things this season due to injuries I think he “has” realized them. If Haywood would have been our starting center for the last 5 seasons he may have been on the all star ballot this season…. if he had used Blatche a little more last season Blatche wouldn’t be so much of a “rookie” this season…..Grunfeld gives him good players - I “think” he now knows he needs to use them and not just 7 out of the 15 (well 13 this year). I guess we will really know if he has, come next season, when everyone is again healthy?

Brendan Todd Haywood is no longer Brenda anymore lol
