Arenas Rehab Update
Hey everyone, Gilbert Arenas talked after practice today here is what he had to say.
On his rehabilitation from knee surgery:
“When I had my first surgery, the ligaments that I tore and bruised took five months to heal. After I had this surgery I was able to bend my knee. The first surgery I was not able to bend my knee for almost two months. I could have been walking without crutches right after this last surgery but the doctors told me it was best to use the crutches for the full six weeks.”
On recovering mentally from the injury:
“You have to stay positive. It is easy for me to rest because I know I am going to have a full recovery. It just depends if I just take my time and let it heal properly.”
On his return date:
“I don’t really know. I keep pushing it back. Hopefully, I will be able to comeback sometime between the middle of February to the middle of March.”
On second thoughts of returning too soon after the first surgery:
“It is easy to say it now, but back then during the practices I was fine. Even after the last game I was still fine and that is what I was mad about. When I went to get a check up for the swelling they said I needed surgery and I felt as if I could still play. The doctors said I could still play but risked doing further damage in the long run.”
On advice he received from Jason Kidd:
“I wasn’t going to get it check because I thought it was normal. He told me I should get it checked out because you never know because there was a lot of swelling. So I got it checked and I needed surgery.”
On how he feels:
“This is not the same injury as last time where I had all the pain. The first surgery was a rough one. My leg has not looked or felt the same since April 4th. This is the best it has looked since I got hurt the first time. I am pain free now.”

Im just glad that arenas’ injury has not hurt the Wizards…..in many cases with some teams, if one of your star players is injured, the team is really effected by it…..in our case, we have had some guys who have really stepped up off the bench and come to the rescue in this hard time……can’t wait to get you back arenas, I think were doing ok, but its gonna be great for the playoffs once we get you back
