Hey, realize this Dominic and Nick — you two are young enough that you could be my grandkids (stretching it just a bit there…), but I still think you are funny. All the same, it’s a good thing you guys can play basketball — don’t quit your day job, know what I mean?
Lets see some imitations. Get us some versions of Haywood, Jamison and so forth.
You showed Jones fatheadin’ on Andray — what’s he going to show on you guys?

DMAC AND HOLLYWOOD NICK YOU WERE OFF THE CHARTS FUNNY AGAIN. I KNOW THAT LOCKER ROOM IS ROCKING WITH YOU TWO IN THERE. I LIKE MORE IMITATIONS OF THE TEAM PLAYERS ALSO SUCH AS STEVENSON,DANIELS AND PECHEROV. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF YOU COULD INTERVIEW BOBBY DANDRIDGE DMAC AND PHIL CHENIER NICKY YOUNG. THE REASON WHY I LIKE THESE INTERVIEW IS BECAUSE YOUR STYLE OF THE NBA GAME IS SIMILAR! THEY BOTH HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONSHP IN 1978 AND THEY COULD HELP YOU BOTH ON THE OUTLOOK AND MINDSET FOR THERE BIG RUN TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

Hey guys,
I would like to see a rematch of “Money Making McGuire”(tripple M) and “The Challenger” Nick Young. I think it was cool to see how you to are great role players. p.s. I was at the Heat game when they showed the previews for it. I had a feeling that Dominick was going to win.

….speechless.
Who’s the skinny 15 year-old kid in the Wizards sweatshirt in Dominic’s corner? Someone needs to feed him a sandwich.
December 31st, 2007 at 12:15 PM
Hell, they ALL need to be fed sandwiches, plus more (lol).
December 31st, 2007 at 12:55 PM
looooool that’s true.

You guys are silly…Nick why are your shorts so excruciatingly short? and no you did not pour Crisco on yourself! LMAO
Anyway it is good to see that your success has not robbed you of your humor…You still make me laugh as much as you did in high school…Have a happy new year guys.

Rats.

he wasn’t doing much for us anyway……should have gone with signing donnel taylor if we were gonna sign any1 in the first place; at least he knows the wizards playbook somewhat.

no he had some crazy D i dont think that was a good idea i say pay that man
January 1st, 2008 at 9:10 AM
Chintzy, cheap, short-sighted. At the least we could have kept him until the 10th, when his contract would have become guaranteed.
January 1st, 2008 at 9:18 AM
Neal, I’m guessing that they waived him to keep from going over the cap but told him to stay in town. They can sign him on Jan 5 to 10 day contracts, without going over the cap, if memory serves correctly.
January 1st, 2008 at 12:02 PM
I agree, Wizards4Life..
January 1st, 2008 at 12:17 PM
i think domi.nick should do one with them pulling a prank on gilbert. like punk’d
January 1st, 2008 at 4:17 PM
That’s right Beeb. But they could have kept him until the 10th, then cut him, then sign him to 10 day contracts. A little more insurance and defensive presence at virtually no cost.
I just don’t get it.

It’s not about the cap — we are way over the cap, like most teams. It’s about the luxury tax ceiling, but that is computed on our salary *the last day of the season.* Hence, keeping Wilk around for longer has no effect on the luxury tax ceiling.
In other words, it was just business; it’s not worth the $$ to the Wizards to have him on hand. They don’t seem to think they need a back up point guard.
January 1st, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Note that the luxury tax is not just about paying $2 in tax for every $1 the team is over the luxury tax limit. There’s another thing - teams *under* the limit split the extra $$ paid in by teams over the limit.
In other words, it’s probably worth several million $ to stay under that limit. I have no idea whether we are actually flirting w/ the luxury tax ceiling. But, I can see the rationale for staying under it unless you *really* want some guy who takes you over.

yeah Tom thats the thing no one realizes. about 8 teams out of the 30 may be under the cap this year and the next. That leaves alot of money distributed to the rest of the team. I mean why go over the cap by having a guy play what, like one or two days before we can sign him to ten day contracts? A guy who’s a specialist who probably wouldn’t help in the game against detroit cause he’s too small to gaurd chauncey who’ll post him up constantly. I say wait a couple of days and then think of whether or not you need to sign him then. I disagree with neal it’s not cheap..this is a good organizational decision, its not short sighted because we have the whole season and next years money in perspective. I think this organization does alot of classy things, gives alot to communities, sacrifices their revenue to help others. None of this would happen if the organization didn’t try to be financially acountable. I for one think a sign of success and GM expertise is building a likeable team with good chemistry and character while staying under the salary cap. We have success in that aspect so I try and respect the teams decisions. I mean our team is not a mess like the knicks with isiah and dolan
January 2nd, 2008 at 8:58 AM
The luxury tax is based on our payroll AS OF THE DAY OF OUR LAST GAME. Therefore, we could have had up to 15 players at whatever salary up to Jan. 10th, when all contracts (except for 10 day contracts) become guaranteed.
cheap, cheap, cheap
January 8th, 2008 at 1:56 AM
and so which players did you have in mind that we could sign? How much would you pay them? I’m sure they’d be willing to play for peanuts and a couple of signed jerseys. we get it, you think the organization is cheap for not going over the cap.. I wonder what they did with all the money under the cap I mean here they are they paid arenas and he’s injured during the season again, Etan who had an unforseeable heart condition for which we get no credit yet, Jamison who is earning the max of 16 million.
Neal you know how deep our rotation has been for majority of the seasons, other teams rotations? you think we will be playing that 15th guy? or the 14th guy? we haven’t even been having time to play Dmac. How much time did donnell, roger mason, john ramos, james lang, mike hall play? WE had them sitting on the bench.
The money has been spent on the players we have, Pecherov is coming soon to give us more depth. I suggest let the players play for their money. Soon they’ll be 11 deep which is much bigger than our usual rotation. Arenas comes back and we’re 12 deep. Look at most teams benches and you can spot 1-3 guys who’ll never see time on the floor. Guys who are bench warming and people who are constantly back and forth sent to the D-league who are getting paid while not adding no value to the team. Some are being developed while others are insurance..not very good insurance because they aren’t flexible enough to meet all needs..but they are clearly not there to play that instance. We can sign players to short contracts as need dictates…
So i guess not throwing your money around in a panic is cheap cheap cheap

Ya’ll cats are ill. I love your blog. I check a lot of NBA players web sites and I thought http://www.chris-bosh.com was the most entertaining. When are getting your own site? I look forward to seeing your next post.
