I must first apologize for putting this comment in the “wrong category”. Yes, the video previews are funny and I also can’t wait to see the Dukes of Wizards battle it out.
Onto my real thought. It seems like I discuss this every year. I’m about to go insane if the next NBA All-Star ballot results have Yi JianLian outvoting Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison at the East Forward position. No Eastern Conference Coach would vote Yi as a reserve this season to the ASG. The entire fan voting thing for starters is a sham. I have no problems allowing Chinese NBA fans vote but I do have a problem if they’re voting in a bias and uninformed manner. Seriously, do these people from other countries even know anyone else in the NBA besides Team Houston, Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and Michael Jordan?
Most everyone knows that the ASG is a popularity contest but this is getting ridiculous. On the flip side, how is Gilberto-Nacho-Salsa-Tostada-Enchilada-Pico de Gallo-Halo Addicted Arenas having more votes than Billups? And onto the ultimate laugher - Luis Scola and Shane Battier having more votes than local products Kevin Durant and Grant Hill.
There needs to be a change. I say, how about asking a current NBA trivia question before you get to vote on a daily basis? The question is timed so you don’t have time to Google your answer. If you get the answer right, you get to vote for the day. If not, then no vote for you. I’m sure 95% of the so called “NBA fan” doesn’t even know how Brandon Roy’s team has a double digit winning streak. Or who Josh Smith is.
Speaking of the ASG, I think Roger Mason should participate in the 3 point competition. Since Gil couldn’t take down Kapono, maybe Roger can.

^ I totally agree with you about the voting. It is a sham. It shouldn’t be decided by fan voting. It’s just wrong. Shaq is second in centers in the East. He is not an all-star this year. Period. Yi is clearly not an all-star. Two or three good games does not make you an all-star. The only justice that is done is when the coaches pick the reserves. And obviously Gilbert is not an all-star. I’m sorry, but you can’t be an all-star when you don’t play. This is getting ridiculous. Caron and AJ are all-stars.
How many guys are averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds a game? I just did some fact checking and the answer is five. Five players in the entire league.
D. Howard
A. Jefferson
C. Boozer
A. Jamison
Y. Ming
I’m sorry but if you average 20 and 10, you are an all star. How can you NOT be an all-star when you average those numbers? All those 5 guys deserve to be on the all-star team. I’m hoping all five of them make it, but especially Jamison. Jamison is 6-9 and grabs almost 11 boards a game. Enough said. Where are the Jamison haters now? What the hec, lets trade him.

Wow! Maybe AB should do the post game show on ComCast… go and interview some people coming out of the Acela Club and see if they can name 6 Wizards after watching (or not watching) the game. That would be a riot.
Seriously, though, I am sharing he Vlog with some students who are doing projects. It was great!
On a side note, does anybody know if AB’s hand is ok? He was holding it kind of funny after that amazing block!

I agree with you wizards fusion in regards to all star votes and our players. I feel the coaches will vote caron in definately although on the small forwards I see lebron starting and paul pierce and richard jefferson being a threat for the other top small forward to be picked. Although richard jeff’s team has a bad record but he’s in top five in scoring if I’m not mistaken.
Another off topic thing I want to bring up is roger mason. Alot of people bashed his signing and his game
http://www.washingtonwizardsblog.com/2007/09/24/mason-re-signed-with-wizards/#comments
is one example. I think he needs to be commended for what he’s done and hes really stepped to the plate.

No way Butler should not be an all-star. Following are the stats on the players mentioned. Figures are FG%, 3pt%, FT%, rebounds per minute played, and assists per minute played.
Butler: 50,42,87,.17,.11
James: 48,29,72,.18,.19
Jefferson: 46,29,85,.16,.07
Pierce: 44,37,82,.14,.13
Now who’s going to tell me Butler should not make the team?
Just one thing is in the back of my mind regarding Mason. He needed a while to get his confidence. Will he have a recurrence of self-doubt when the play-offs start?

As a major “Roger basher” I have to agree wholeheartedly that he needs to be commended for putting his game together. His shooting has improved and his face-up defense is good as well.
Caron is having a phenomenal season, yes. No question he is an elite player in the league.

One thing tho, neal — if we are doing this kind of assessment, we need to see the negative stats too for all those players: how many turnovers and fouls per minute played by Butler, James, Jefferson and Pierce?
December 28th, 2007 at 2:45 PM
Right you are, Tom. Here are more complete figures. Figures are FG%, 3pt%, FT%, and rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, fouls and turnovers per minute played, respectively.
Butler 50,42,87,.17,.11,.06,.01,.06,.06
James 48,29,72,.18,.19,.05,.03,.06,1.00
Jefferson 46,29,85,.16,.07,.03,.01,.07,.07
Pierce 44,37,82,.14,.13,.04,.01,.06,.08
Butler still comes out on top, in my opinion. He’s just not as well known. It is notable how many assists and blocks Lebron James gets. Other than that, Butler is THE MAN.

I don’t think LeBron turns it over once a minute — that would be something! But in any case, I’m not doubting Caron — he is great! These are terrific stats.
Where do you get these stats, and can we get the equivalent ones for Antawn?

Domi.Nick. The competition chain of command goes Basketball (horse is acceptable), boxing, and COMPETITIVE EATING. You know what you need to do…
