3:01 AM EST…Dave Johnson checking in….it’s about 2 in the morning…and yes the loss last night was a tough one…we were right there..frustrating that we had a 30-16 edge in sceond chance points..but at least four of their sixteen second chance points came very late…there were times we had trouble getting to shooters…but they shot lights out with  16 three pointers–Stephen Jackson made some tough shots and needless to say Baron Davis as well…but consider we shot 51% and only had 12 turnovers.. Caron Butler will be icing his knee tonight…keep your fingers crossed…BLOGCAST with the online audio starts at 8 PM…i’ll check in befor then…

hey guys. Why does Eddie refuse to go big with Blatche and Haywood? Is it because we don’t really have another center. Even though he plays Song at the 5 sometimes. We seem to be a better team when we go to a big lineup. Other teams seem like they have a hard time playing with us. Maybe it’s just me but I just don’t like the small lineup.
One other question. Can we somehow stop Jamison from shooting bad jumpers? Over the last few games he’s like 2-17 outside the lane and 11-15 inside the lane. I know shooters shoot but he is almost unstopable in the lane.

jamison could help himself by not shooting every time he touches the ball. he has only one assist in the last 2 games. it is much easier to play team defense if you know I guy is going to try to score every time he gets the ball. You do not often see a second chance bucket on a jamison miss. still, he is rebounding well and putting up scoring numbers, so it is hard to complain too much.
the defense last night was the big problem. what was it, 15 threes? and most of them wide open! the coaching staff really needs to be able to adjust to that.
and the fact seems to be that we are a better team with Blatche and Young on the floor. Need to figure out a way to keep them there.

Bad loss yesterday but we’ve got to keep playing. I think we should start Young at the 2 I think he is an all around better player than Stevenson. And hopefully we can get a win tonight!

Jordan has always not concerned himself much with perimeter defense. But the good defensive teams manage to protect inside and also on the perimeter. I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive.
If Haywood and Blatche play much simultaneously we have to spell Haywood with Songaila and Butler with McGuire. I think we lose as much as we gain. I do agree that Blatche is playing better than Haywood, but switching who starts risks hurting morale and chemistry.
I feel the same about Young and Stevenson. In the first place, I’m not sure that Young is playing as well as Stevenson yet - overall. In the second place, switching who starts risks harming team chemistry. Jordan can gradually increase Young’s minutes w/o doing that.
I really like that Jamison is shooting much more inside than last year. I’m not sure why he’s getting more of those shots. But he’s also a good perimeter shooter. And yes, he mostly looks to shoot. I haven’t noticed him ignoring open teammates, though. Am I missing something?

looks to me everyone but the wizards gave up and threw in the towel its a 82 game season we have won 6 in a row we cant win them all so we lost to a team that burnt us behind the line and if they would have missed those no one would have said a word i know because i have seen it quit a few times and don’t think the team is going to quit because of one game so keep your heads up lets look to put a spell on JCN and that rag tag bunch an show them that taking DS was a lot better than taking JCN

Haven’t be in here for a minute, so I’m checking in. Sorry to hear about Gil. I know he was looking forward to getting back but it could have been worse. Three months is nothing compared to the entire season. He should be back in Feb. But it’s going to take him a while to get back in shape.
The guys are playing well, though. Six in a row. Three withoyt Gil. You got to admit that’s pretty good. From what I did see, Blatche is playing well. NY1 is also hot!! Jamison & Caron is definitely stepping up their game. From what I saw last night, GS was dropping the threes. We have never been at defending the threes..I see nothing has changed.
I just have to ask this question. Can someone please tell me why DeShawn is starting? Besides the one game where he really stepped up his game, I don’t know why EJ is starting him. Is it because NY1 doesn’t have the experience? Well at the moment, besides the rookie mistakes, he ’s playing better than DS2..

and wizravterp.. we have seen Blacthe and Haywood together and we will see it again so it is not a case of Eddie refusing to use them together.. he has and he will.. in fact it is a good point you make….we coiuld see that tonight with the Grzzilies having Gasol.. and Miller etc..all goes over 6′8″

well as many of you i think nick young should be gradually be geatting more minutes…maybe 25-30 a game by the end of the year..if deshawn keeps this up i think that if nick young can stay away from turnovers and up his defense with those long arms of his he should be able to get steals easily..if he can do this he maybe wind up being the starter at the midpoint through the season..

it’s great that we can even talk about nick young…like this so early in his career…i remember being in the “war room” and Ernie Grunfeld was fired up when he realized he could gte Young..he is coming a long nicely but it’s too early to talk about him being a starter.. stevenson has dranw some tough d assisgnments this year and done well…. and he did have 19 points two games ago..but the scoring is a bonus

Dj were you in the war room during the drafting process? I also had hoped we would take nick young and was worried for a second cause i thought charlotte was going to take him. But apparently they had plans to get Jason richardson. After they didnt take him I was fine. i figured we were going to take stuckey If detroit renegged on the alleged promise they had made to him, Nick young, Thad young or Sean williams. I wish this game would be televised. I think nick young vs Navarro would be interesting. But I think in terms of scoring despite Navarro is la bomba I think nick can take him. I wish I could watch the game

I don’t understand why we never show away games on TV. It’s like we stop being fans cause they are in another stadium. Theoretically broadcasting more games means you can show us more ADs

I guess we are lucky they aren’t shooting quite like gsw from the 3pt line so far, but we have once again given up a lot. Some nice passes in the offense this time though and I think we should really use our big men to score. Gasol isn’t exactly a great defender.

I think that deal from memphis sucked. Lottery protected and top twenty protected for a long time to play in the place where he really wants to play. I forsee Memphis getting top twenty picks for a long time based on the fact they won’t over perform. I don’t really see us getting that pick for a really long time unless I’m missing something or they have an expectancy of how they think memphis will perform and when they’ll get the pick back or plan to resell it to teams that need or want to get rid of cap space.
cause honestly after the wiz held on to him for all these years and then he pops up seemingly in the middle of nowhere, I’d give him to the highest bidder or if all the offers are insulting I let him stay the rest of his career in Europe

wermol you post on realgm? I think they make a big deal about ncalling him N1. Too hard for me. Oh and by the way I wanted Jamison traded. ONly reason I don’t know is because we would take equivalent salary and not have any room for resignings and free agency. He’s a tweener. i don’t see us winning the ship with him as starting PF. He’ll make a heck of a 6th man though

Jamison is good, just not on D. He is always the jersey coming into the screen after an offensive rebound by the other team. He is an asset, but he’s a defensive liability.

we should be dictating, not responding to the way memphis plays. if they want to go small then pump the ball inside for easy buckets! Plus with 2 big guys guarding the rim, our smalls can extend on defense and close out on those shooters.

Oh I mean when they correct everyone for calling him NY. I figure when it comes to basketball and we talk about our players and say Ny we kinda know who we are talking about. I can’t get myself to call him N1. It doesn’t seem like anything someone would call him anywhere except realgm. ON the other hand NY I remember him referring to himself as that somewhere. I tried to sign up for realgm but apparently I need a non free email account to be a member. Now that takes me having a paid for email which takes me for being a sucker who’d pay for air , sex and bottled water. So I just lurk. Not that I’m satisfied being a stalker type

The wiz have a nice mixture of veterans with their young players….things will come around. All the wizards are playing with a great deal of confidence, which is allowing Eddie to play them more-so now, than I have ever seen him do in the past (my opinion)……Keep the faith.

Yeah, it was REAL tough being a wizards/bullets fan back then….The general manager back then was…….(I remember when he and the Big E won the championship), but he really could not bring in a decent team during his mgmt career (topic for another day)….Second half has started…Adios.
BTW-If anyone can get it, CSN+ is carrying the game on COMCAST…..And Navarro is pretty good.

I think giving some other team in the NBA a good player not matter where the team is, plus adding a player is a net loss. On the other hand they gain alot and we gain a little. So would you like to have a little gain and a Net loss in terms of improvement of the NBA in general? maybe. It’s the way we were leveraged that I’m against. Just to avoid any future incidents of people leveraging me like that I’d let him stay in europe out of the principal of it. I’d make a lousy Gm though, but they’d be a whole lot of no I’m not listening to you entertainment for the media

Last game I didnt understand why they pulled nick young when he was on fire and confident. I’m all for starting deshawn but beyond that you play who’s getting a good matchup. Someone said he’d done his job and now its time for the Vets to bring back the bacon. My whole attitude was that had turned into a shootout and we were back in the game and it was finally out of control. I don’t understand controlling it then getting back the lineup that lost control in the first place. we all know where it was going. It was really any ones game

newposter it sounds like you think its a bad thing to talk about his game. I notice the way you write his “boy” as though his friend is disloyal, but we were talking basketball and I follow basketball very closely. I asked about roger masons shot since he knew him. Tom and I had discussed whether roger was a practice shooter who couldn’t make one during the game. SO i asked him hows his shot. He told me roger mason was a good shooter, probably one of the better ones he’d seen. So that kinda answered one of my questions. I said yeah, he looks really solid on D IMO I think thats what they use him for. His response was I don’t know about that. Roger couldnt even defend me and I’m a slow ass white kid. They must have played together in college and High school. So now I watch the game with this info in mind. It’s not like something is being said thats not apparent to the coaching staff. I mention it to you guys cause it might not be apparent to us

Hey, was a disappointing loss yesterday, but just need to move on.
Dave and Glenn, do you know how is Haywood’s ankle? Yesterday he didn’t really seem at the top of his game, is there reason for concern?
The keys for us seem to be stopping the spanish duo and perimeter defense. I think it will be a very tough test for Blatche - he is probably our best matchup against Gasol, but he needs to avoid quick fouls. I don’t know who will be guarding Navarro and Miller, but I sincerely hope that we show better effort on the perimeter in defense than yesterday. Those guys can shoot threes.
