6:02 AM…Dave Johnson  checking in…for luck I did have that cheese steak–not sure about the luck–but it was as good an excuse as any and it was good….Wizards had a breakfast meeting and film session yesterday..it was two in the afternoon..that tells you how late or early we got into Philadelphia on Thursday morning..we did not arrive from San Antonio until around 4am..it’s like being on a west coast road trip with out going to the west coast..talked to antawn jamison and he mentioned the pride this team is playing with as they try to make the best of life without Gilbert on the court.. and yes he talked about how getting out of this month 8-8 with all the adversity would be more than welcome….it has been impressive how players have stepped up minus Gilbert….Antawn’s average is up 8.8 ppg and so is Antonio’s….Nick Young’s scoring up 8.1 ppg and Blatche 6.8 ppg..those figures are over the last 7 games….would love to see Blatche have another big game against the Sixers..remember he had 26 the last time…BLOGCAST starts at 7…i will check later from the hotel..feel free to post questions that I will ask eddie in my pre game chat.

5:14 AM…Dave Johnson checking in…we arrived here in Philadelphia about 3:30 AM. ..team will have a fim session later tdoay….a tip of the hat to the Spurs..they were better on a night when the Wizards were not bad…consider that the Wizards shot 47% against the Spurs  and only had ten turnovers…Tony Parker’s penetration and points proved to be too much..and the Spurs loaded up defensively on Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler….Butler’s shooting % was fine .. he was 5 of 9…but that was the problem only 9 shots…as Eddie Jordan said. it is not much as looking at what they didn’t  do but learning from how the Spurs got to be the champions…check in later

5:51 AM EST….Greetings again from San Antonio. It was nice to read all the posts and see how we all are trying to come to grips with the death of Sean Taylor. Again we wish the Redskins family strength as they try to move on. The Wizards did practice here in San Antonio yesterday—no surprise  a lot of time spent on defending the Spurs. Like the Mavericks , Wizards are facing a Spurs team angry after a loss. It didn’t matter on Monday as the Wizards did get their first win in Dallas since 2001. It was the most complete game of the season. Glenn and I were talking at dinner last night about how this team is starting to take on Caron’s identity on defense–diving for loose balls, digging to try and force steals. And how about Butler borrowing Gilbert’s hibachi—Caron alreday with 14 three pointers this year–only had 18 all of last year. That final shot Monday in Dallas…I thought Caron was Gilbert when he nailed it between the circles…BLOGCAST  with the radio broadcast will start at 8:30PM…but I will check back later today and then courtside..feel free to post questions I might use in Eddie’s pre game radio interview.  dave johnson

9:49 am EST….Dave Johnson here in San Antonio…..thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Sean Taylor and to the entire Redskins family during this difficult time….. The Wizards are here in San Antonio and will practice later today. last night as we talked about on the blog and radio broadcast..it was the Wizards most complete game of the season…we appreciate all the activity last night..in fact I am going to take some time to go over the posts again.. and feel free to offer more comments or post questions here….check back later dave

8:25 AM EST… Dave Johnson checking in from Dallas…team had the day off yesterday… they had just played Golden State and Memphis back-to-back so a chance to receover….Caron Butler was icing his knee before the Grizzlies  game and still finished with 27 points..yes the Grizzlies game was a stinger…there was an opportunity there..have to steal one back now… and it is a BIG challenge….the Wizards have not won here in Dallas since 2001..BLOGCAST will start at 8:30P…with the radio broadcast….but will check in from courtside before then and will check back later from hotel in case anyone has any questions for Eddie Jordan..
