Our club is 61 years old and it has many great wins under its belt.. However. Last season Zalgiris finished dead last in Euroleague (two wins). The season before that Zalgiris did reach the second stage (Top-16), but lost all games there. Last spring the club recovered to win the Lithuanian league, but Lithuanian league is widely regarded as hardly in top-10 of the strongest National leagues in Europe. The reason is money. Zalgiris is the largest club in Lithuania yet its budget is ~7,1 mln USD. When Zalgiris won Euroleague in 1999, practically all key players were bought by richer clubs. We are helped by the huge Sabonis basketball school, which is widely regarded as the best one in Europe. Zalgiris second team (juniors) are the running champs of Euroleague junior tournament. on the other hand, Zalgiris signed 4 important players this summer and after a slump there's always a rise (sooner or later). Anyways, don't get carried away, this is an average (at best) Euroleague team. Not to mention for the majority of players it's only third game ever under the NBA rules.
