WIZARDS TO HOLD OPEN SCRIMMAGE AT VCU
The Wizards will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at the Siegel Center inside the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University this evening at 5:00 pm. The doors open at 4:00 pm for the general public.
In the meantime, the players are running a morning shoot-around session in which assistant coaches Mike O’Koren, Phil Hubbard, Randy Ayers and Wes Unseld, Jr. stress a few more offensive sets and defensive drills such as rebounding and transition defense.
11:54… Just saw our forwards Pech, Andray and Dominic running the break with fairly good ball dribbing. Then on the other end of the court, Darius just had a nice back door pass to Willie Deane who finished with a reverse layup. The Pech got a couple of defensive rebounds.
11:57…Wow…DeShawn was double-teamed and saw an open Pecherov on the top of the key. DeShawn soon threw the ball to Pech, and there was the three from Pech.
12:01… Brendan threw down a slam dunk from a dribble hand-off from the driving Caron.

12:10… Wizards owners Mr. and Mrs. Pollin just stop by and sit in front of the scorers’ table. The Wizards have a short beark, and Gilbert Arenas comes over to greet the Pollins. Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld is now accompanying Mr. Pollin and talks about the progress at the training camp. After a short break… The Wizards now runs 5-on-5 in half court set.
12:17… Just talked with Wizards tv play-by-play announcer Steve Buckhantz. He told me he will be the PA announcer for the scrimmage.
12:18… Now all the Wizards are in the huddle and everyone is listening to Coach O’Koren’s final words. “1-2-3 Wizards!” The morning shoot-around comes to an end.
12:25… After the practice, Antawn Jamison spent some time chatting with Mr. Pollin. Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld also had a chance to introduce the new assistant coaches to the Pollins. It was a really nice family atmosphere here at this moment. And everybody is ready for this evening’s scrimmage.

Thanks Will. The Pollin’s are such wonderful people. I can’t think of a team owner throughout the league who is so mutually liked and respected by the entire Wizard’s family and fans alike.
Hey Will… will there be a blog from tonight’s scrimmage?
