ETAN THOMAS NOT CLEARED TO PLAY
Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that during a routine team physical, Wizards Center Etan Thomas had a cardiac test that revealed an irregularity. Thomas has not been cleared to play, and will have further tests before his status is determined.

hope this turns out to be a mistake not just because we need him to play but because he is a good guy and i dont want any thing bad to happen to him

Man, this is bad news for Etan, and it sounds serious.
No one wants the center controversy to be settled this way.
But no one can deny we’re all thinking about what now. Interesting that the #2, #3 and #4 centers were spoken of as Blatche, Massenburg and Songaila, respectively. Pecherov is definitely a PF.
To answer a question put by a blogger:
A player’s salary is counted under the salary cap even if he is injured. If a player is forced to retire for medical reasons, his salary is not included in the team’s salary for cap purposes after a one year waiting period. However, the team does not receive a salary cap exception to acquire a replacement player.
