A.D. INDUCTED TO BGSU HALL OF FAME

The Bowling Green State University Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes seven new members, including Wizards guard Antonio Daniels on the weekend of Sept. 21-22. The official induction ceremony will take place Friday, Sept. 21. In addition, the Class of 2007 will be introduced at BGSU-Temple football game at Doyt Perry Stadium on Saturday.
Antonio Daniels (Men’s Basketball, 1994-97)
Antonio Daniels, a native of Columbus, Ohio, was the MAC Player of the Year in 1996-97, helping the Falcons to the MAC regular-season championship in that, his senior year. A two-year captain at BG, Daniels helped the Falcons of head coach Jim Larranaga to winning records during each of his four seasons, including a 22-10 mark in his final winter.
Daniels was also a second-team All-MAC performer as a junior, leading the MAC in assists that year. The 1994 MAC Freshman of the Year, he was a first round draft pick of the NBA’s Vancouver Grizzlies three years later, going fourth overall. Daniels finished his career second on the BGSU career scoring chart with 1,789 points, ranking 10th in MAC history at the time. He averaged 24.0 points and 6.8 assists per game as a senior in 1996-97.
Daniels has played in the NBA since his graduation. He spent one season (1997-98) with the Grizzlies, and played four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs (1998-2002), one with the Portland Trailblazers (2002-03) and two with the Seattle Supersonics (2003-05). Daniels has spent the last two seasons with the Washington Wizards. While with the Spurs, he won an NBA championship ring in 1999. Entering the 2007-08 season, Daniels has played in 723 career NBA regular-season games, and has averaged nearly eight points per game during that span. He has played in 69 career playoff games, averaging more than nine ppg during playoff time. He and his wife, Sonia, have a two-year-old daughter, Jada Christiana Daniels, and reside in San Antonio.

I think he’s really underrated. I think he’s actually better at managing the game and distributing the ball than Arenas.

I have always said I like him on the floor with Gil. He’s good at reading the floor and making plays. We all know he leads the league in assist-to turnover ratio. Not to mention he’s just a good all around guy. Good things happen to good people. Congratulation AD!! You deserve it..

Congrats AD
You are what I call the ultimate team player because you are more than a scorer more than than a leader but like a player\coach because you have achieved a championship ringer and my Wizards want to know what it takes to get one!Show them what it takes and we fans will forever be in your gratitude!!!

GREAT AD!! You are truly a role model.
Any word on what we are going to do with Etan and Haywood…..let’s get this done and over with, so we can move forward.

Wizards4Life, what exactly did Gil say? Was this recent? Was Gil mad at Haywood?
I also wish one of our centers would go somewhere. I think we could make do with Songaila, Blatche and/or Pecherov as back-up center. But I think Grunfeld has tried to do something and hasn’t been able to. It would have to be hard to trade Thomas’s contract. And EG must want a good center in return for Haywood. Grunfeld seems to like Haywood more than Jordan does, or Haywood would be gone by now.

“No matter if Etan is the starter or the backup, he’s going to give you the same kind of energy and the same kind of play,” Arenas explained. “Brendan will give you three-four (strong) games (off the bench) because he’s mad, then he’s going to tank it.”
thats a qote from usa today!

He is going to have more pressure on him to perform this year. It’s not just going to be either Mr. Thomas or Mr. 3/4″ vertical leap. He will have Pesh and (hopefully) Andre on his heels too! With some real competition lets see how he responds. I’m afraid of his response too lol. I can hear Eddie now.. Where the heck did the name plate over his locker go This Time?

oh… to the original subject. AD is one of my favorite players in the league. AT his age to be inducted into BG’s hall of fame is amazing! Not to mention, well deserved. Congratulations to Mr. Daniels!

I didn’t really followed his college career but as a pro, AD is an excellent role model – class guy, hard work and profesionalism – there’e no thug attitude with this guy !!!

good job ad. He’s a relatively young inductee compared to the other inductees. OT: how much do season tickets cost, is it ridiculously priced? cause i’d rather watch it from tv than from really far even though I’m a diehard fan.
