TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team will conduct training camp in preparation for the 2007-08 NBA season at the Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA from October 2-6. In addition, the Wizards will host an open scrimmage, free to the public, on Saturday, October 6th at 5:00 p.m.

“We are excited about returning to Richmond for training camp for the fourth consecutive year,” said Grunfeld. “We are looking forward to hosting an open scrimmage on the VCU campus, so our fans in the Richmond area can have an opportunity to get an up-close look at our exciting team. The previous three training camps that we held in Richmond were very beneficial to our team, as our players, coaches and staff have enjoyed training camp at a first-class facility like the Siegel Center.”

YES!!!! As a Wizard’s fan from Richmond, I don’t really get that great of a chance to see them at games except on a few games that are on Fridays, Saturdays, and occasionally on Sundays in D.C. so this gives me a great oppurtunity to see them in my hometown for the Wizards training camp for the fourth year in a row! I hope the Wizard’s will continue to use the Siegal Center for their training camp because it’s a great facility and I enjoy watching them.

I’m just excited about the season and what this team could possibly be. I think the additions made are already an upgrade from last year. My question is are they done.

yeah Wizards4life how it works is they play an intersquad scrimmage against eachother….they divide the two teams (white and black)….some years more fair then others. but the doors to the arena usually around 3 and its a first 6,000 (or however many the siegal center can max) and its free of charge…u just got to get there early

I’m starting to get nostalgic about missing training camp at Siegel Center. :) Great facility and a great staff. Have fun in Richmond Will!

Hey Will let us know your observations on BH and ET as far as training camp is concerned. I’m curious to see if there are some new attitudes of approach with these two guy’s as teammates.

Well with all the injuries the wizards sustained in the final stretch of last season this season has become the most important one. What we already know is the Big three will have to carry the load, rest your knees guys this camp is not about you. This camp sole focus should be getting these younger guys all the opportunity to find there place and get familiar with the offense. Andray Blatche time is now to show that he belongs in the league. The only way that can happen is to give him more minutes to make mistakes and learn on the job. I dont know a player to become a good or great player on the bench or in 7minutes of playing time. I like the rookies the wizards drafted, give them a year of watching and learning and they will be fine. As for you other guys on the team: Antonio Daniels-Keep up the good work, DeShawn Stevenson- keep playing hard and physical, Songaila- your the X factor, Pecherov- watch and learn from the best, Thomas and Haywood- although you two are not counted on for points your blocks and REBOUNDS are the KEY to a championship team. Haywood you have the chance to be a great deffensive Center in the east. Put your HEART into Rebounding and you will never have to worry about minutes on the floor. The city loves Thomas because he is nasty on the boards thats all thats it REBOUNDING.
