100,000 SHOTS IN THE MAKING
Wizards All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas said in his recent blog that he is working on making 100,000 shots over 73 days. It turned out to be an immediate hit, (the NBA clearly got bored while long waiting for the KG-to-Boston trade to become official, and it did that afternoon), so that the NBA Entertainment sent down a camera crew to film his workout at Verizon Center practice court yesterday morning (July 31).
You must be wondering what kinds of shots that count. According to Drew Cleary (Wizards strength and conditioning coach and Gilbert’s training partner), Gilbert has been working on a variety of jump shots, including 18-footers, college threes and NBA three-pointers as well as short jumpers from various spots. Layups do not count into the total.
Now let’s see what Gilbert has to do to achieve this goal in 73 days. That means he needs to make at least 1,370 shots each day. He has made close to 20,000 shots since July 19 (within just two weeks), according to Drew Cleary. His pace now is about making 1,500 shots a day which will make him well ahead of his projected schedule (around September 29 just before Wizards training camp).

lol I always love aundras over dramatic comments. Now thats a fan. Anyone know any volunteer things that can be done with the wiz. I’ve been thinking since I’m so obssessed with them I might as well do something random for them just to be a part of helping them get a good season….I should become a reporter or some srto of blgorrer (yeah I started mispelling everything to show my great writing skills and absurdly good use of punctuation and other stuff that is usefull in the graet riting arena..etc..etc.. I know I should be a ball boy or one of those rebounders at the training facility..or maybe gm

hey i think its kind of weird that he is doing this. I’m a senior in high school from ohio and we have been trying a similar thing. We are shooting for 1 million shots in 100,000 hours. We count any shots that we take as a team or on our own. We either shoot on a gun or by ourselves. Just thought I’d mention that not that anybody cares lol

Iroy13…100,000 hours is about 11 and half years. a million shots won’t take that long if you are shooting as a group

btw I don’t think gil’s issue is his shot. I think his issue is his jumping/ athletic ability. Thats what seperates wade from him. Wade has more blocks and penetrates alot more. He should ask nick young what he did to get such hops
