Lets not forget that Navarro has stated that it is *life goal* to play in the NBA. Signing a big contract w/ Barca doesn't get him to his goal.

Hence, we certainly aren't going to give away his rights for nothing (or for a 2d round pick either). If somebody wants Navarro, they have to give us something worth something *to us*. My guess is that it'll be a 1st round pick in '09 or '10.

Lets also remember that we never *had* the guy, so we're not losing anything if there's no deal. Navarro is the only one who's losing out.

hey Tom I saw a report yesterday that FC Barcelona has given EG and the Wiz until August 3rd to trade JCN. If not FC Barcelona will sign JCN to a new contract which will require a much bigger buyout of the new contract. This possibly prevents JCN from ever playing in the NBA. I read this report on Hoopshype.com on yesterday.
Personally this can be a good thing for the Wiz because if the Heat, Memphis or Cavs really want JCN they will step up now. Also the Wiz could possibly lose the opportunity to at least get a second round draft pick for JCN.
If you watch LA Bomba play he reminds you of a slower version of Juan Dixon. La Bomba is a combo guard with no great quickness. For him to succeed he would have to be with the right team. I could see him playing in the Princeton O for the Wiz. Problem is the Wiz would have to trade AD asap to even consider that. I believe the best fit for JCN is wth Miami playing next to DWade. Only thing is do we give him up for a second round draft pick?
Even though Miami is considering Rafer Alston I stll think they would take JCN especially since DWADE is recovering from shoulder surgery. I just pray that JCN don't try to put it on us with a buzzer beater. Maybe we will put DMAC on him.

yeah I've seen the wages of wins before. A perfect player is considered to score o.200 I think or 2 wherever the decimal goes. It's pure weighted stats and I dont know if the little things that don't show up on a scoreboard are rated. Also I've seen things where it depends on what system and team you're playing in. Some players are overrated. Arenas is the highest rated player. I think nick young was considered overrated in some rankings and Dmac underrated. Pech is harder to rate being foreign. But then again what you do from here on out is what counts and I think they have potential to be better than our current starters for those positions 2,3 and 4. Haywood has better rating than etan and we basically might cut all the people who contributed negatively.
The thing I question about this rating is that sometimes some players don't get much of a chance to play, or play restricted roles leading to low stats. It's hard to pin point available talent or who is really responsible for the wins.It raises an interesting question. is it better to trade for adequate players and have a balanced roster or a few star players to contribute to the win total. Once those stars go our ability to win games decreases alot. Arenas + caron = 17.5 games.

In fact, it seems that defense has very little actual impact on team results: take a look at <a href="http://dberri.wordpress.com/2007/03/26/incorporating-defense/" rel="nofollow">this post</a> on DJ Berri's Wages of Wins blog. Here is <a href="http://www.wagesofwins.com/WizardsDefense.html" rel="nofollow">a Wizards table</a>.

Just looking at the wins produced results, btw, you can see that the guys we are replacing this year -- Hayes, Mason, Taylor and Ruffin -- contributed nothing; in fact, they all had negative wins produced. Note that this table is through 66 games only -- which is probably why Songaila doesn't look good. He got better as he got healthier and into better shape. We were 4-12 the rest of the season because of injuries.

Probably was EG. I don't think defense and EJ go hand in hand (sort of speak)..

They're obviously trying to get defensive expertise. He sounds good. I've got my fingers crossed. I wonder if his selection was more EG's thing or Jordan's.

Its great to get a defensive coach but you need defensive players. Michael Ruffin, DeShawn Stevenson, and Dominic McGuire is all Washington have.

I'm playing the wait and see game. Our guys promise year after to get better on D. I have yet to see it. I don't know if I can go through another year of the team not defending 3 point shooters, the pick&roll, points at the basket, and giving up over 100 points a night. It's just too much for Wiz fan to take...
