2007 SUMMER LEAGUE ROSTER SET

The Washington Wizards return to Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2007 NBA Summer League (July 10-15) presented by adidas. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Wizards are competing in the Vegas Summer League. The Wizards are scheduled to play Sacramento, Detroit, Houston, Cleveland and Milwaukee in Summer League action.

The Wizards Summer League team will feature the team’s two draft picks: first round pick Nick Young (Southern California) and second round pick Dominic McGuire (Fresno State). Wizards’ 2006 first round pick, Oleksiy Pecherov, will make his second consecutive appearance in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Wizards Notes: Also on the roster is the newly hired assistant coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau joins the Wizards after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets.

What are the chances of AB, Pecherov or Kyle Visser getting significant minutes or starting at center?

This guy Thibodeau may be what we need. In 18 years his teams have been in the top 10 in defense 14 times. I’ll bet they had to pay him a lot to get him from Houston. If he makes a difference it’s worth it. This could be the best free agent we sign this year.

Houston fired him lucky for us, he’s got his work cut out for him here. I think he’s just what we need. Side note: Juan Carlo Navarro could very well be here also.

Signing Visser to the Summer League team gets my notice — first *possible* indication that there may be a trade in view to move either Haywood or Thomas?

People like Aaron Miles too — but probably no roster spot for him, esp. if Navarro actually comes over (what an exciting prospect that is!)

i truely believe this has been the missing piece for us to actually play some defense around here

anyone know anything about leon rodgers, I saw his stats from euro league and he has solid numbers, I think he might be added especially if they are trying to improve athleticism. I think roger mason stays since IMO hes a better combo gaurd than donnell, plus he seems to think he’s staying he said they wanted him back, hayes can be replaced by young and rodgers, mike hall by mcguire, ruffin by visser, the 6′9 248 pound banger and pecherov, AD by navarro if we have a trade, if not navarro replaces donnell + mason. PLus navarro might lure gasol here if chicago doesnt trade for him. I like gaso he’s unhappy, he wants to move, he works well with navarro, he’s solid and hes so much cheaper than the other premier big men. I also like camby or tyson chandler

Guys, the Wizards need to try to get Darius Rice, he was the D-League Finals MVP, Put up big numbers and is a solid young forward, which we need we need a solid power forward, keep gil at point, put deshawn on the bench so we can have off the bench scoring, put caron at 2 guard, move antwan to small forward, put darius at forward, and have haywood at center sounds pretty good to me.

I nearly looked at nearly every team’s summer league roster and I don’t see any of them with J.R. Reynolds. Anybody know if J.R. Reynolds is going to be in the summer league and what team he is on?

caron wouldnt be able to keep up with most 2 gaurds defensiveley…and antwan already has a hard enough time keeping up with PF, and Darius isnt worth starting unless you have someone injured

@Bruce O

Leon Rogerd played at Eiffeltowers Den Bosch in the Netherlands and hey is one of the best players ever played here in the Netherlands.

Hey plays basketball at a high level as he is playing on the playgrounds.
I really like see him playing, he’s a good offensive player and defensive he can take steals when he is motivated to play.
In the ULEB-Cup hey was two times MVP of the week.

I am really curious how he will do on this level, he can play ball thats for sure but if he is as good as i think he is than the Wizzards have a good player next year.

Thanks king I looked it up and saw some of him on youtube, yeah I think rodgers is good enough to be picked up, I was curious how he was doing in practice and whos doing the most damage among the SF (rodgers/ mike hall and mcguire). I think rodgers might be able to play some shooting guard as well, playing time at the SF and Sg might suddenly become hard to come by with roger mason thinking they are keeping him, hall coming to play summer league, mcguire being signed and being a steal and rodgers also being a good player. Also nick young, navarro and deshawn (if he resigns) and hayes who if you look at his college career was good but he has never improved his ability to penetrate and I think has no mid range game.

Gilbert0 you mentioned darius rice who I think is playing for clevelands summer league squad, he is a good three point shooter he scored 52 points (11-18) I think in the D-league final he’s 6′ 10″ i think. I’ve toyed with the idea of caron playing the 2 can he is an undersized 3 .Caron can defend the 2 spot but people think he doesnt have the handle for the 2 spot plus hes not a catch and shooter or doesnt have a shooting guards offensive skill set which is useful. Look what rip is doing in detroit..

I saw bellinelli poured in 37. Him, rudy fernandez, almond and nick young were some of the top SG. We did tryout bellinelli and he was available at the 16th pick ( he went 18th) but Ernie thought nick a better choice (hopefully cause of talent and not because bellinelli might have some sort of buyout). I hope nick young is atleast just as good as bellinelli who has a lot of pro experience
