Kind of interesting, on http://www.draftexpress.com they have Glen Davis coming to us in the second round. Just wondering what anybody thought of us trying to pick him up in the second round and going after a SG/SF in the first.

Good catch, JG — they had Russell Carter projected to us until today. Carter will never be a starter in the league, but Glenn Davis has every chance to be. I’d *love* to get him w/ a 2d round choice; he has *a ton* of talent.
Of course with that much talent, there’s a reason he is projected in round 2 not round 1. He is very very heavy. Plays below the rim. Still, if he is available at our pick I hope we take him.

On the surface, I do like Glen Davis as a second round pick for us. However, that is after they have us taking Jason Smith in the first round. I think we have to get some bench depth at guard/forward. We need points and defense off the bench. If we do not get DeShawn re-signed, then we definitely need a guard somewhere in the draft.
I actually like the nbadraft.net mock better. They currently have us taking Derrick Byars with #16 (I like him A LOT…maybe second to Al Thornton) and Dominic McGuire with #47 (Not tremendous offensively, but apparently will give is rebounding and defense off the bench)

Aaron Gray is projected near the end of round 1 or early in round 2 — although his stock is rising a bit as the draft approaches.
The other three guys are 2d rounders or won’t be drafted. Major Wingate has been projected to us w/ our 2d round pick by http://www.nbadraft.net, for example.
