WIZARDS GET A LOOK AT 4 MORE POTENTIALS

On Tuesday, the Wizards hosted four more potential NBA Draft picks in Daequan Cook (Ohio State), Michael Peeples (Fairleigh Dickinson), Dwight Brewington (Providence) and Lee Humphrey (Florida) at Verizon Center.

QUOTES:
Daequan Cook, Guard, Ohio State
On how playing for Ohio State helped him improve as a player:
“It helped me a lot because we played against the best teams and the best players in college basketball. It allowed me to boost my confidence and mature as a player.”

On what he can bring to an NBA team:
“I bring a lot of confidence. I’m a great shooter and I have the ability to be a great scorer. I can run the floor, rebound and do whatever the coach needs at the two-guard position.”

On the possibility of playing for the Wizards:
“It would be great for me. Gilbert Arenas does a great job of getting to the basket and he is a great scorer. Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison are great players who can penetrate and look for the open player who can hit the open shot – and I am capable of doing that.”

Lee Humphrey, Guard, Florida
On how playing for Billy Donovan has prepared him for the pre-draft workouts:
“Coach Donovan was a great coach to play for. His individual workouts are similar to the workout today, so I think that has prepared me. He’s intense and he runs a very organized program. I think the organization and the workouts he put us through had prepared us for the NBA workouts.”

On his biggest strength:
“My shooting is my biggest strength coming out of Florida. They used me a lot on the perimeter for my shooting ability.”

On working out with Ohio State guard Daequan Cook:
“Daequan (Cook) is a great guy and it was fun to work out with him today. We didn’t joke around too much about the national championship game.”

No one has Cook projected in the first 20 players taken. But… you never know.

He won’t be contributing in the NBA for a few years, however.

He won’t drop to where we are in the 2d round. Anyway, he is a kid; there’s no way to know whether he’ll be much of a player in the NBA. He didn’t even play much at Ohio State, I don’t think.
