PRE-DRAFT WORKOUTS: DAY 2 (PART II)
Guards Carl Elliott (George Washington) and Jamon Gordon (Virginia Tech), and big men DeVon Hardin (California), Josh McRoberts (Duke), and Anthony Tolliver (Creighton) completed the second session of Day 2 workouts for the Wizards on June 8th at Verizon Center.
QUOTES:
Carl Elliott, Guard, George Washington
On the possibility of being drafted by the Wizards:
“It woud be really good to stay in Washington. It is not too far from New York, my hometown. If they draft me it would be a great thing to stay in D.C.”
On his workout:
“I hope the Wizards saw that I can shoot the ball pretty well. I can defend and pass the ball well. Hopefully I can be a good fit for the Wizards.”
DeVon Hardin, Center, California
On the workout:
“The guys out there today were some of the best competition I have played against. When you get to this level the competition is at a high level.”
Jamon Gordon, Guard, Virginia Tech
On his workout:
“The workout was great. It is a dream come true just to be able to workout for an NBA team. It was my first workout so I was kind of tired out there. The coaches kept pushing us today and I fed off of their energy.”
On the possibility of being drafted by the Wizards:
“I have always liked the Wizards style of play. I feel I can help them out especially on the defensive end. Wherever I go I just want to come in and play hard.”
Josh McRoberts, Forward, Duke
On the Washington Wizards:
“The Wizards are a great organization and I would love to come and play here. Washington D.C. is a great area. It was great to get the opportunity to workout for the Wizards. It would be great to be a part of this team.”
On today’s workout:
“I think it went pretty well. It was a lot of good guys and it was very competitive. It was a great workout for all of us.”
Anthony Tolliver, Forward, Creighton
On the workout:
“I think I did okay. It was my first workout, so I was pretty nervous. I think, though, I did some good things and showed them what I can bring to the table. Hopefully, they are impressed. I just gave them 100 percent at all times, and my M.O. is that I am going to be a guy who works hard. Hopefully, the Wizards see that and bring me in.”
On playing for a Mid-Major School – Creighton:
“I definitely think that I have to show more. I played at Creighton and people who know about basketball know the Missouri Valley conference is tough. But you have to earn the respect from players, and even some coaches, and show a little bit more effort, skill and poise because they feel you went to a smaller program. I feel like that I have to prove a lot every time I go out there.”
NOTE:
Former GW standouts Mike Hall and Pops Mensah-Bonsu were on hand to cheer on their former teammate Elliot.
“I just came to show some support. It is tough because I was in the same position last year. I was trying to impress people, last man in the workout and show I belong. He is doing well so far.â€
Hall played two regular season and three playoff games for the Wizards last season after joining the team as a free agent in February.

Last year, Glenn Consur gave us some great analysis of the guys who came in — isn’t he part of the picture any more?
