EIGHT PLAYERS ADDED TO TEAM USA

USA Basketball announced today that NBA players Carlos Boozer, Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, Mike Miller, Tayshaun Prince and Deron Williams along with incoming rookies Greg Oden and Kevin Durant have been named to the Men’s Senior National Team. The eight players will join over a dozen other players who will compete to make the final roster that will participate in FIBA Americas Championship 2007.

The tournament features ten countries looking to earn an automatic bid to the 2008 Olympic Games to be held next summer in Beijing. The two top finishers receive the bids.

While Wizards forward Antawn Jamison is listed as “expected to participate” with the team in Las Vegas, the Washington Times reported at the end of the playoffs indicated that “Jamison will take the summer off to rest and spend time with his family, including a son born earlier this season”.

Guard Gilbert Arenas is among the list of seven injured Team USA players who will not play in this summer’s tournament.

i am glad AJ wont go we need him to be in shape but not broke down and the fact that the team was sub par would make it a better reason to rest up and let a set of young legs take over

I’m all with you Wiz4life, the only possible problem this summer (except trades and so on) is Darius…. He wants to play for his national team, I hope he’ll still have his back and his all body healthy!

yeah i cant blame him for that and plus he did not get that much playing time this season so he could probly use some floor time with any team to get his wind back
