ODEN, DURANT LIKELY TO PLAY IN NORTHWEST

I love the Draft Lottery. It’s such good drama that my wife actually insisted on staying on ESPN than watching the end of the American Idol season finale.

It doesn’t matter if your team is in it or not, be honest - you chuckle (if not howl) when a team slips out of their projected position to a lower pick because someone else snuck in to one of the top three slots in the annual ping-pong ball gala.

This year, the losers were Memphis, Boston and Milwaukee (who had the three worst records this past season) with the Hawks, Blazers and SuperSonics beating the odds and sliding into top three picks, with Portland earning the right to select the first player in next month’s draft followed by Seattle.

Looks like Greg Oden and Kevin Durant will both be moving to the Northwest. The question is which city…

Portland got real lucky last night. I think they will select Oden with the first pick in the draft. With Portland and Seattle getting #1 and #2 pick the playoffs picture will look a little different next year. Watch out Lakers and Golden State.
