ONE MORE WIN, EDDIE’S IN

The NBA’s cut-off date of to determine the All-Star Game’s Eastern Conference Head Coach is this Sunday, February 4th. Eddie Jordan could be named that coach as early as tonight when Washington visits Toronto - one more win would guarantee that the Wizards will have a better record than both Chicago and Cleveland through Sunday’s games.

In fact, the only way for Eddie to not make the trip to Vegas is if the Wizards lose both their games and if Chicago or Cleveland win all three of their contests.

NEXT GAMES:
Wizards: at TOR, vs LAL
Cavaliers: at MIA, vs CHA, vs DET
Bulls: at LAC, at SEA, at POR

Who hoo! You read my mind — I knew we were approach the point where we could get a meaningful condition prediction here.

Let’s do some math, shall we? The only way Eddie can’t get in is if Wizards lose two games and (either Team A loses three or another team, Team B, loses three).

We’re discussing a total of 8 games. Let’s assume the probability for all of these aforesaid teams of winning their games if 50 percent and the chances of any team winning any game is independent of any of the games listed above.

The probability then of us (Team W) is losing two in a row is one-fourth.

The probability of Team A winning three in a row is one-eighth, and the same for B. The probability that either Team A or Team B will win three in a row is *roughly* one fourth — good enough for our purposes.

Thus, the conditional probability of Team W losing two and Teams A and/or B winning three is one-fourth times one-fourth, or one sixteenth.

With some simplifying assumptions, the changes Coach Eddie goes to the All Stars to coach is 15 in 16.

Tim Legler of Espn.com said the Wizards will lose there top seeding to Detroit because of the Antwaan Jamison injury.Well what do the fans have to say to our ex Wizards analyst.Go to __ __ __.You fill in the blank because they are counting us out already and it just doesn’t make since. The character our captain said we have has to manifest itself right now to prove to the nay sayers we are not just the Big Three but a team which is fearless and complete from the world GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

To clarify, some people asked that if Chicago ties by going 3-0, and we go 1-1. The series is currently split, they have a better conference record.
    Wouldn’t Skiles go? nope

    It goes by winning%
    If we go 1-1, 28-18 = (.609)

    Chicago goes 3-0, 29-19 = (.604)

We have to lose both AND Chicago has to go 3-0.

I hope they win tonight. Thanks for the information. I didn’t know the Wizards just had to win one more game for Coach Jordan to coach in the All Star game.

    Factoid from the net void:

Jason Kidd is likely a lock to be an All-Star reserve. But to make sure, he wouldn’t mind seeing Washington coach Eddie Jordan named the coach over Chicago’s Scott Skiles, whom he hates from their days together at Phoenix. ”Gooooo Washington,” Kidd said with a small laugh.

Basically, if the Wizards take of care of business, it’s a wrap.

Toronto is a tall, fast paced team. It may be good to see Blatche step up in this one.

Nancy, all I can say is WOW!!! YOU GO!!

GO WIZ!!! TAKE THIS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS!! EDDIE COACH THE TEAM AND CARON WILL BE AN ALL-STAR!!!

    How about the youtube?
I know a guy (Will P.)… said he does some work with the website [washingtonwizards.com] too

Well, keep up the good work.
I love the blogs and website.. very nice for the fans.

  18. Iron Chef G-Wiz Says:

Chicago Bulls lost to Clippers, so Eddie’s spot is up for the Cavaliers coach to grab.

Cavs have tough opponents in Miami and Detroit. Also, Charlotte could cause problems.

I think even if Washington falters against the Lakers, Eddie Jordan and his staff are coaching the East.

  19. wizardsdotcom Says:

WizDom - Are you referring to Will Fan? He’s a GREAT guy and both he and I make up Team Website here at the Wizards.

(BTW, yes, I also upload all those grainy clips to YouTube).
