Q-AND-A WITH ANTAWN JAMISON

Antawn Jamison recently sat down with us to discuss the upcoming season. Jamison also reflected on his career in Washington and explained to us why he wasn’t happy with his performance last season, despite averaging 20 points and nine rebounds.

This is off subject… but I just saw Chris Webber is making almost 21 million this season! He is making more than AI, can you believe that!? That is crazy!

Darius Songaila is a good shooter. However he is not very quick or fast, he is somewhat slowfooted. He is good at setting picks and a good rebounder. However he is not a very good defensively. He is kind of like Jamison, but he is slower and better at setting picks because he is wider. Also for a center or power forward he is kind of short. So I wonder how he will fit in if his back ever stops hurting.

There’s really not much to say about this. I just hope Jamison plays some defense this year, and picks up more than his usual 1 foul per game.

I have long said that I am sick and tired of hearing the Jamison-bashing. Every team needs someone like him. He is a class individual and personifies what this organization is all about. Sure he struggles on defense. People tend to put isolated events under the microscope and that can be unfair. The fact of the matter is that he averages nearly a double-double…that is impressive. He might not be the best defensive player on the team, but he brings so much else to the team that we desperately need.

    You go Antawn!!

Thank you Andrew. I have said time and time again to quit hating on Antawn. He was and still is an integral part of the BIG THREE! And we need the type of game he brings and he always delivers. I can’t wait for him to bring it on!

Go Antawn! DC loves you and your game. Don’t believe the haters!

Antawn’s defensive play is not an isolated event unfortunately. It is a constantly reoccuring event. If you ever watch him when he is called for his 1 foul each game, he reacts with such shocking amazement because how could he possibly commit a foul when he never makes contact? “But ref, I didn’t even TOUCH him!”

Jamison is a class act. He’s great for Washington and the team/organization. I hope he stays, and even makes this area his home (from a real Washington born Washingtonian)! Good luck this season and keep up the great work. Go Wizards!

Since his days at UNC, Antawn Jamison has always reminded me of the superhero Captain America. He makes me proud to be a Wizards fan. I love those little flip shots he makes, just like flipping pancakes!

They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there under, under the sea!

Everyone loves the king of the sea,
Ever so kind and gentle is he,
Tricks he will do when children appear,
And how they laugh when he’s near!

Antawn seems like a genuine guy. He’s so honest and also a bit vulnerable whenever he critiques himself harshly. An all-around nice guy.

Antawn just shake those haters off. We love you here in DC with those floaters and ruuners. Those shots are like butter..
